Nexy Ball Review:
I got a chance to experience the Nexy Polyball last Month after serving as umpire at the Tabaco Open Tourney and pretty much got absorbed with this masterpiece. This observations are based on our club's assessment after 40 our of gameplay (Not to mention 2 Broken Balls).:
Hardness 6 out of 10 It is actually has the feel similar with the AP 3 Star Polyballs having a nice smooth contact with enough pressure on both rubber and the handle. It maybe not close as the AP's but not as hard as Joola nor awkward as the feel of DHS Poly's.
Roundness: 8.5 of 10 Opening the box, out of the 5 we got at least 3 uneven roundness (based from the tourney). We also observed as an aggressive rally continues (flat drives vs loops) the ball has a natural tendency to wobble out of trajectory (natural in side-top but not on pure topspin) and/or slightly lost a bit of its roundness. However, better than DHS whose general flaw is actually getting oblong after a few minutes of strenuous game.
Speed: Its speed is 7 out of 10, faster compared with butterfly's and AP maybe due to its slight weight difference (it is comparatively lighter) and almost at PAR with DHS.
Consistency: This yet were it excels, for service i could say 9.5 out of 10, it gives a nice good spin and direction/control, 7 out of 10 in aggressive rallies, 8 out of 10 in Drills.
Durarbility: Well, for now I guess I would give a fair 4 out 10 for one factor: It breaks when it hits a hard edge. In game, it is actually durable, we even though hard flat drives for hour with it just to test will it break and satisfactorily it did. It was superb. However, once it hits a hard edge ( e.g. the side of the racket and pointed edge of the table) it just cracks like an egg. Hopefully they could fix this in time.
Overall its a 7.5 out of 10 for me. If you are up to training and looking for a ball to train on consistency, Nexy is your choice.
