- Choose your location.
Aim away from the forehand (either at the opponent's body, or backhand), or the extreme forehand if the opponent is out of position. Hitting straight to the forehand gives your opponent the chance to take control since they are already in position. Make the opponent move so they have less time to make the shot. Aiming to the elbow isn't much better since, at that further distance, the opponent still has time to get set for the shot.
- Remember to stay in good position.
You may step further and further to your backhand side in order to use your forehand, but make sure you don't leave a big gap in the forehand side for your opponent to exploit.
