SpinLord Waran

Over the years, I've used/tried 802, 802-40, Super Spinpips, Spectol(soft), VO-101 and VO-102, Moristo SP, and finally Waran and Waran 2. To me, the Waran plays very much like a fast version of Spectol Soft. The throw angle off of the Waran pips is lower than most of the other spinny short pips I've tried (very similar to Spectol Soft to me); Only the VO-101 has a lower throw angle. Similar to the Spectol soft, my Waran (1.8mm) is very decent at chopping as well as blocking and hitting. It's soft enough to loop no-spin balls, and it's spinny enough to serve with just as much spin as Super Spinpips or VO-102. Compared to the VO-102, the Waran has a greater range of speed, especially on the low end, which makes short pushes and chops much easier. For me, the top end is very similar in speed to VO-102 and Moristo SP. Overall, pretty decent for $30!

Great short pip with excellent speed. It is very playable as long as you're controlling the play. Stay in charge of the placement of the ball and kill it with deadly counter shots. Also excels at blocking the ball.

Picot court classique, excellent pour les frappes et les blocs. Il gêne un tout petit peu. Très rapide , il ne prends pas trop les effets. Vraiement léger. Pour un jeu d'attaque. Surtout il n'est pas cher.

After using most of the short pimples availables in the market, waran seems for me the best one. Excelent speed, very good control, good spin and very deceptive in blocks and flat hitting. Very good

This rubber has clear strenghts: Shooting and attacking. I played this rubber in 2.0 mm which is the maximum sponge size for this rubber. It is very easy to attack any kinds of ball, because the rubber is relatively insensitive to incoming spin. It is good for flat hits and attacking topspins. It creates a medium amount of spin. It is really easy to attack balls with it and the flight curve of the ball is not very easy to block for opponents. Chops are possible, but not as spinny to pose problems to better players. Blocks are very consistent and very good. I think this rubber is a bit like a modern classic. Weight is pretty low with around 34 g on normal size blade (157x150).
