SpinLord Keiler

As my first mid pips rubber coming from a regular looper backside, I’m pretty enjoying my time with a Keiler 2mm on my FH. It is very easy to hit through incoming spin, slow down the pace with floating short dead balls, chop from mid distance, and the pips are grippy enough to throw some very decent serves. Being an all around player who seldomly dare to attack during a game, Keiler gave me a lot of confidence to adapt to different kinds of situations and in finish points easily, and even offered me some easy wins over players who weren’t exactly sure how to play against a MP on a FH. On the downside, it is not as disruptive as I expected it to be for a mid pips, and even after +8 months with it I still somehow find it difficult to control, or at least to master, specifically while trying to block: on a Samsonov Alpha blade, which is supposedly one of the best blades to block and counter-attack close to the table, I find it very difficult to deal with high incoming spin and speed. Sometimes I manage to send back a quite disturbing floating, slowing down ball that can lead the attacking player to make mistake, but most of the time I just send back an easy no spin ball who puts me in big trouble, or worse, it just go way out of the table without even trying to pretend to land. I understand that the blocking move is very specific so maybe with more time and practicing I’ll be more in control. At least that’s the kind of rubber with a lot of unusual moves to try & learn.

Playing the OX version and enjoying every moment of it. I am not a skilled pimples out player, but the Keiler is easy to get a hold of. Quite versatile and still somewhat disruptive. You can do pretty much everything with it, except looping.

Spinlord Keiler on blade Vodak Hinoki OFF-. For me is curently best 1,5mm. Good disruption (not the best on Killer level) , good control , medium soft sponge , little bit catapult. On repulsive Hinoki OFF - is enough version 1,5mm , on slower Vodak Controll ALL+ or my old Stiga Alser Allround wood is the question, what is probably slightly better - version 1,8mm or 1,5mm. Medium pips rubber with good allround propperties , in the time ABS Ball it has enough friction for lifting shots , despite this is still forgiving by block and counter . For me good compromisse for all around offensive play.

Great medium pips. More deceptive than medium spinny short pips. No adjustment in strokes needed when moving from short pips to this one. Very fast, easy to finish point with drives and smashes. Somewhat sensitive to spin on passive play however, during rallies it behaves as spin insensitive rubber and can be easily used to hit through spins. Serves are not as good as 802-40, I don't use it for serving. Chopping with 2.0mm sponge is below average, too fast to chop effectively. Thinner sponge will be good for chopping. Overall, excellent rubber. A must try for any pips lover

Attention !!!! I do not really know so much about pimple rubber, but I'd like to talk about it anyway. ;-) I only bought this rubber to have fun and so I´m very glad, that Keiler is so easy to play. - ... and it makes really fun, to annoy the opponents with it !!! The weight of my rubber in 1,5 mm was uncut 40 g. Some people discuss, if Keiler is a medium pimple or a short pimple rubber. In my opinion, it´s clearely a short pimple rubber (- as like the Degu), because the game features do not really match the characteristics of a medium long pimple rubber. ... and in contrast to the Yinhe/Galaxy Pluto, for example, (- whose Pimple length is also much discussed!), which rather plays like a medium long pimple rubber. When I play with smooth rubbers, I am quite a service-giant and even with the Keiler, which generates enormus spin, my opponents have great difficulties. Because I´m not able to attack with the Keiler (what should be not a problem for pimple players), i only use this rubber for serves and to disturb. YES, ;-P ... boys just want to have fun !!! ;-)
