Here comes the saw
The DONIC SLICE 40 CS is the latest rubber development for modern defensive play: A sticky top rubber, like in the successful DONIC BLUEGRIP series, is combined with a catapult-friendly tension sponge, like in the DONIC ACUDA S. The result is a hybrid rubber sheet that allows for an extremely high degree of rotation: when pushing, when defending with backspin, but of course also for topspin. The DONIC SLICE 40 CS offers sufficient dynamics to give attacks the necessary penetrating power, but it is explicitly designed for defensive players. And that’s also why it is only available in 1.3 mm and 1.5 mm. If you want to create extreme backspin in defence, then go and get the SLICE 40 CS and unpack the saw.
Technology: Hybrid rubber sheet, medium-hard tension sponge, sticky top sheet.
Character: Excellent grip, extremely high rotation for defensive and attacking strokes
Recommendation: Developed for the modern defensive game
i can compare this with Tibhar Super Defense and Victas 401. In general words - this is enhanced version of Victas 401 for classic defenders. Has some grip, some tackiness. There is some catapult effect. I was surprised that after playing Victas in 1.8 I did not have to put a lot of psychical efforts and I was not late for fast attacks. When you want to put pressure with your pushes on the table- its very easy and controllable. Spin manipulation - very easy to do. When you defend from far zone- you dont need to put extra moves or efforts. Attacking capabilities - nature is very similar to Victas, but again with more control and rotation. These all for 1.3. If you take Tibhar same thickness - there will be totally dead rubber. This one gives an actual feeling of at least 1.5mm. Generates a lot of downspin on chops and pushes. My seasoned training partner did mistakes he never does usually. Overall, I am happy that this rubber very energetic, controllable and not dead like most of defensive rubbers. Not that sensitive for incoming spin. I recommend to try this rubber
I can compare with Donic slice 40 CD, Tibhar super defense 40, Submarine, Victas 401, Butterfly takiness chop, Victas regular-which is an all round rubber. Here we are talking about a more dynamic ruber, Takines chop and Donic slice 40 CD. I would liken the tire close to Tibhar Defense 40. However, Donic Slice 40 CS is an interesting rubber. The sponge is tensor, but with reduced catapult - gives very good feedback without catapulting uncontrollably, medium firm in my opinion. You can give a nice spin with a short movement even over the table. It's a little more difficult to bowl balls without spin. Has very decent attacking potential. Control over the ball is quite good, on a flat shot the ruber feels slightly dead. The Victas 401 is a much more dynamic rubber than this, and the Victas is also more sensitive to incoming ball spin. It cuts back from the table without a problem, but still with the arrangement for cutting with a smooth ruber, i.e. with attention to the spin of the ball coming your way.
