Review of Butterfly Jun Mizutani Super ZLCI own both the ZJK SZLC and JM SZLC and I can tell you that they are both exceptional blades. The JM SZLC is a bit slower and has longer dwell time so if you want to get creative I recommend it over the ZJK SZLC. Review of Darker Speed 90This is my primary blade and I play twice a week with it. It is the best one ply you can get. The quality is great and the speed is the best out of all one ply hinoki blades. Review of Nittaku TenorI got my Nittaku Tenor used from a player who probably had it for a while, right away I noticed that the blade is heavier than what I'm custom to play with and the head is slightly larger so I just got my router and I reduced the size of the head to 150x157, the size of the most blades I played with before. As a resoult my blade is beter balanced, before was head heavy, and lighter as wlell (88 grams). Has a lot of power and greater control than my Darker Speed 90 what is a 1 ply hinoki. I used two setups: T64FX(FH) with T05FX(BH) and the second setup was T05FX(FH) with T05(BH). Both worked as a charm. So far is my best blade and I will stick with it! I'm not sure why Nittaku chosed the larger head for this blade but for me it was an easy fix customizeing the size of the head.Mar 14, 2012 | |||||||||||||||

Review of PimplePark ImpetusThis is my first balsa core blade transitioning from ayous to kiri and now trying balsa. My review is purely of a offensive player's standpoint not a defensive one! Kiri and balsa are identical in many ways, they are both light, the balsa being the lighter of the two and they both have a great feeling. One difference is that for a balsa core to be effective it must be relatively thicker than a kiri core so if you do not see yourself playing with 8mm+ thick blade as attaking player than balsa is not for you. On the other hand if you do you will have the advantage of the non linear effect of the balsa core when it comes to the impact and rebound. This particular blade works nicely with hard tacky rubbers like Yasaka Rakza Z. So back to the non linearity of the balsa core, when slightly brushing the ball a great amount of spin can be generated, hitting trough the ball when looping away from the table will put less spin on the ball than some expect. Blocks are non sensitive to the incoming spin and easy to execute and fast no spin serves are very accurate. Short serves can be very spin deceptive with a lot or very little spin generated using a relatively short stroke. In counter looping the father you drift from the table the harder will be to generate spin. Close and mid distance is where this blade has practically no weakness. In the push game make sure you slightly brush underneath the ball and do not strike the ball because doing so it will have a high bounce and less spin. For a long push with low spin close the bat angle more and strike the ball lightly. Generally speaking all direct strikes perpendicular to the blade face have shorter dwell time and all closed angle shots will increase considerably the dwell. For this reason I recommend Tacky Chinese style rubbers versus the European grippy ones. Overall it is a great blade for soft handed players!Apr 25, 2022 | |||||||||||||||
