Review of JOOLA Toni HoldIn fact there are two models of this legendary blade. The Toni Hold and the Toni Hold white spot. The difference is that the Toni Hold has 5 plies of cottonwood while the Toni Hold white spot has 5 plies of poplar. (according to Joola) Both trees are related (same family - populus) but i feel that cottonwood is slightly stiffer. I have both blades and i can notice some difference. The cottonwood feels a tiny bit faster. This is in my opinion an allround- or an defence+ blade, While the white spot is purely a defensive blade. Both blades are slightly oversized but not as much as for example the joo se hyuk. They both are quality defensive blades but i like the cottonwood version most because it is a little bit easier to counter attack.

Xiom Extreme S

Review of Xiom Extreme SThis is a well manufactured 7 ply blade (limba , ayous , ayous, ayous, ayous, ayous, limba) by Xiom. It's in the same category as the Avalox P700 or Stiga Clipper. Fast but good control. Although it's a 7 ply blade it doesn't feel stiff. Excellent for playing close to the table or mid distance. Like all above mentioned blades it's also often used to play short pips.

Review of Xiom Novus 19 Extreme SA fast but very controllable blade. Mine weights 86 gram (my spare one weights also 86 grams) and not 94 as advertised. I use 2mm Xiom vega europe H on forehand and 1,8mm DMS Spinfire on my backhand. Total weight is 171 grams. Good for topspin close to the table and mid distance. It's also a very nice blade to play short pips like most 7 ply blades. Passive or active topspin blocks are done with ease. The blade has an amazing feel to play even though it's fast. The finish of the blade and handle is beautiful and feels top quality. Recommended for topspin play but also fast and devastating hits.
