I tried this blade with (FH) DHS H3N 2.2mm 41deg & 729 Battle II Prov. (BH) Andro Hexer Grip SFX 1.9mm & Andro Rasanter R37 2.0mm. Earlier blades I have used the 729 V-6 and Yinhe MC-4, that I will compare the PG5 with. It's bouncier in the flat hits and blocks than both the others. Strangely it feels better in the short game, and more controllable when playing with spin than the MC-4. The V-6 is about the same in this play. Services is more difficult. Perhaps because of this blade being a bit more flexy than the other two, and makes the ball go longer than you want. One thing I've noticed, is that when I do a back spin serve and hit it right, the spin is higher than before with the other blades. The throw angle is a bit lower with this one than the other two, so it's more important to do the correct strokes to get the ball over the net. It's easier to play away from the table with this one, as it gives a bit more power than the other two. Weight: 90g
Well i had hell of an experience with that blade )))
As Im a CPen player i was hoping for a 85-86g one but received 88g one which after sanding the finger-slopes came down to 87g. It was still pretty heavy for my arm so i almost lost a feel in my strokes. After a few months struggling with that blade i decided an extreme customization, the original head size was 164mmx148mm too long for any kind of blade in my opinion. So i prepared a 158x148 template, marked the excess area and shaved off 4mm from the top with sanding wheel, which reduced the blade weight by 2g and additional 3g was saved on rubbers which ended up with 5g reduction in total.
The blade became very balanced in speed and control, frequency increased from 1312Hz to 1379Hz and now it plays much more agile. My feel returned and my game improved significantly.
So SH player might not suffer as much as a CPen ones but its not the best blade out of the box IMO.
However now i'm a blade customization professional ).
This blade have good control with enough speed. Easy to generate spin and good ball are great. One thing that I hate this blade is the handle too small and make it head heavy.
Very good value for the money. The blade has a good flex, and a soft feel. Very good for spin shoots. This is not a super fast blade, but it is not slow. I would say it is fast enough, and it has planty of control. I'm using this blade with hurricane 3 blue spong on the forehand and h3 neo on the back hand, no boost. I don't feel any lack of speed, and this wood is great with chinese rubbers. The spin is unreal.
Limba, Ayous (crossed), Alc, Ayous, Alc, Ayous (crossed), Limba; (90 g.);
Very controllable blade with alc inner. Very flexible, when you hit with power you can feel how the ball enter, the blade flex and shoot it. The blade has a tight handle (dhs), its very thin but its greath for a agile play.
The best: the control and the balance between control, flex, speed and feeling.
The worst: the little atractive look.
