The blade chosen by Dima Ovtcharov presents the perfect combination of speed and feel. As a consequence of the change to plastic balls, the European Champion looked for a solution that would meet his high requirements - a blade to compliment Dima's powerful strokes whilst enabling him to play the short service and return game with precision and accuracy.

The combination of five high quality plies and two layers of carbon, plus a specially designed synthetic fiber, has resulted in a top quality blade. This means that Dima Ovtcharov is able to use the hardness of the blade for his power game, yet retain fine touch when reacting to his opponents spin.

I tested this blade with tenergy 05 fh and t64 on the back hand for comparison wih the Viscaria. I can say the True Carbon is faster than Viscaria. In terms of dwell time both have the same feeling and boh blades created a very spinny loop due to the dwell time. I find the True carbon has a low to medium throw compare to Viscaria which has a high throw. At the end of my testing and comparisons between the two blades, I choose the True carbon. Personal preference.

This blade has similar speed and control to Ovtcharov Senso Carbon. But it has different feel from the Senso Carbon. This blade is thinner, harder, and more crisp than senso carbon. It’s a very good offensive blade. I recommend medium hard rubbers or medium rubbers. Hard rubbers might make it harder to control. 2019-December UPDATE: Spent past few months playing with OTC and Xiom Stradivarius, both are Viscaria clones and quite similar. I definitely like the OTC more. I put a new sheet of Battle II (39 degrees) on FH and Vega Pro (2mm) on BH. This is a stiff and fast blade, with crisp, solid feeling. The dwell time is noticeably shorter than inner structure blades like Long 5. OTC's stiffness and hardness, combined with hard rubbers, make blocking and counter looping easy. Drives and loop drives are very solid and secure on both FH and BH, with none of the hollow feelings of some newer blades. Short game is also great. It's easy to keep touch shots short; long pushes are spinny and fast. The only drawback for OTC (compared to softer blades) is the short dwell time and middle to low throw angle. This means it's harder to make spinny brush loops; the margin of error is also smaller for opening shots against backspin. But if you are skilled enough to consistently open up with OTC on both wings, your attacks from close to mid-range are especially deadly. Even when you back away from the table, OTC still has enough power to easily land threatening shots on the table. While I like OTC a lot, this blade is too fast for me. I cannot consistently open up attacks with it. I'll probably go back to a slower, more flexible blade like Carbonado 45 or Acoustic Carbon Inner for better consistency and spin.

Hi All, it has been ages since I wrote a review. I have some blades, and I wanted to try this one, so I got one, for ~60 EUR. So Dima wanted to have a blade that is comparable to a BTY Viscaria, just made by Donic. Since I played in a club wit at least 5-7 Viscaria owners, I could easily try them all. What DONIC tried to do is to create a relatively fast and slightly flexible blade, that is ideal for counterloop battles from mid distance to far away. I believe the flexibility part and the speed part was achieved quite well. I feel this blade is a little bit harder to the touch, than the Viscaria. It can loop like a machine, no matter where are you in the court. When playing close to the table it demands good timing and technique otherwise your strokes will be too long or will launch into the net. Feeling wise, the blade resonates a bit more, than a Viscaria. If you play D05 or T05, you won't notice it, but with softer or more transparent rubbers, you will feel it. Due to this it is an honest blade, if you mess up your stoke, you will feel it. Not as an all-wood or an old carbon blade resonance, but as a softish numb resonance. Over the table it is really good for dropshots and counterloops. Short game requires good touch to keep the ball short. This blade asks for tempo and it places pressure on the other side. Activating and harnessing the flexibilty of the blade requires good technique and some force to be applied. The quality of the loops are crazy good. The flex of the blade adds to the rotation even more, so you can push yourself harder and harder. This is not a begginer's blade, it is recommended if you can loop/counterloop/loopkill from both wings, and you are fast enough to do at least a 50 ball/min random loop excersize with minimal errors. I mainly tried this blade with bluefire M1, but used it with C2, Omega V PRO, T05, T05H.

The Donic Ovtcharov True Carbon is an OFF-/OFF rated, very lightweight, and relatively stiff blade. It produces a very direct and intuitive feeling with the Waran short pips on BH drives. In fact, this is one of the most pleasant set-ups that I have used for BH drives - fast, yet excellent control. Interestingly, the feeling on the FH side - where I use the DHS Hurricane 8 rubber – is considerably number, suggesting that the feeling upon ball impact is more rubber dependent than with other blades. FH drives were, nonetheless, fast and executed with high levels of control. This feeling carried over to flat FH/BH hits and blocks, which are this blade’s strength. Blocks, especially on the FH side, are very stable as this blade/rubber combination absorbs most of the incoming kinetic energy and produces fast and flat blocks. BH blocking with the Waran short pips required proper timing in order not to overshoot the table. BH ‘loops’ with the short pips also benefitted from.... Liked it, price performance ratio very good. My unit was laquered on the store, it made a weird sound but had enough feel, good speed and very good block.
