The K series from Galaxy are all "CarboKev" blades, with 2 or more layers of CarboKev cloth between the wood plys. The K series in general are looping blades, but like with most Galaxy series, the numbers (K1, K2, etc.) do not have any pattern in how they play. Each blade is different.
What is CarboKev?
Each layer of cloth is made up of two fibers, the vertical is "carbon fiber" while the horizontal is made of "Kevlar" fibers. This gives the sweet-spot of carbon, but is a good amount softer.
K-4 is OK, but nothing special, and a bit too slow for the agressive play. Very good dwell time due to the soft outer layer. Best matching rubbers for me for this blade were XIOM OmegaVI Europe max (forehand) and ACUDA-2 max (backhand). Roxon500 2mm and Roxon450 MAX were good on forehand as well.
Said to be a clone of TBS. I've never played with a TBS, so I can't say. Good speed, but controllable. Fairly soft feel. I have two of these, and the flare handles are fairly different in size. One is pretty beefy (probably 88g), and the other is somewhat slim (probably 86g). Overall a very good blade.
Good blade for ALLROUND player. Speed rating is overated, too slow for me... tried many rubbers on it... best results I had with ROXON500 and HEXER+. Playing with T-8 at the moment.
This is a terrific blade! Good speed, power, and control whether close to the table or 8' back. Loops and long distance chops are nice. Weight 90 grams, ST handle.
