Der Materialspezialist Spinfire
|

Review of Der Materialspezialist SpinfireIll try to give an honoust review on this rubber. I played it for 8 months. If you are switching from normal rubbers to pips this rubber is one of the rubbers to play.It plays like a normal rubber and its easy to produce the same shots as you used to do only you are less insensitive to incoming spin. Its easier to open up against backspin and it helps your receiving game from your opponents services. It can produce a very decent amount of spin but any normal rubber will give you more so dont be fooled by some of the optimists here.If you are an agressive attacking close to the table player this rubber will suit you really well. The rubber on it self will not create any deception for you. However with the right technique(there are some vids out there)you can do it all. This however will need a very high amount of level/technique from your side.Any beginner/ intermediate or just above that will not be able to do this easily. You need to practice a lot to get the deception/sinking effect out of this rubber. Also this rubber is fast, very fast.Placement, smashing, active blocking, attacking backspin are its best characteristics. Beginners and players who are switching from normal rubbers can definitely try this one since its forgiving. It gives a good feel and feedback everytime you hit.Easy to play, hard to get the max out of kinda rubber if you ask me. Dont go for max sponge thickness right away try 1.5/1.8 since control is better there. Like I said: Its suits the agressive close to the table attacking kind of player. If you rely on defense from time to time with some natural deception to throw your opponent off game or force a mistake, like traditional short pip play look further then this is not the one or the best short pip out there. I had a lot of fun (and still having) with the spinfire on my backhand. Its still my choice of weapon if I know I can play full agressive attacking if my opponent lets that happen. Especially against long pips this rubber is a killer. Jan 21, 2025

Der Materialspezialist Flashback
|

Review of Der Materialspezialist FlashbackOnly tried this a couple of times in 1.5 mm on my backhand. It has a soft sponge which usually is not my cup of tea cause I like the hard sponges more. This rubber is strange in a very good way. Absolutely not easy to play if you start or switch from normal rubbers. So I wouldn’t recommend it to those players. It plays two ways. Defensively like a long pips and offensively like a typical short pips. This gives this rubber way more deception and reversal then most medium rubbers or short pips. Long pips reversal is there but not as much as the best long pips out there. It’s like this rubber is created for players who want to switch from short pips to longs pips or vice versa. If you can master this rubber this one is an absolute weapon. One of the best out there if you ask me since you switch up your play from defensive long pips to offensive short pips with both it benefits. However I’m not that player yet, so it required to much adjusting in my angle. In a match we’re you trust your instincts this lead to mistakes from my side. But that’s due to skill not the rubber. Blocking is joy, short play I found harder to do since the sponge boosted and springy. Opening up at backspin is easy but for me it lacked speed which made me vulnerable. The rubber is insensitive to incoming spin. Chopping is fun and creates some nice reversal. Creating spin is there, enough to surprise your opponent to not just attack the ball. I had fun with rubber but I need a lot more practice and a thicker sponge since the 1.5 was to slow(The lack of speed was killing me in the end)for my taste. I’ll stick with the keiler II for the moment since it suits my style more and it has a harder sponge which I prefer. This rubber is not in the right section btw. Its definitely 100% a medium pips rubber Jan 20, 2025

Der Materialspezialist Wildfire
|

Review of Der Materialspezialist WildfireI am playing the Wildfire for about 2 months now and the more you play with rubber the better you understand the posibilities and its powers/weaknesses. I played this rubber for a short while in 1.7 and in now for a longer period in 1.3mm. Played them on koki niwa all wood, mizutani ZLC and now on my harimoto inner ALC where it is gonna stay. And for me it mattered a lot on which blade I played it. On the Mizutani ZLC it was harder to control, more flat balls and deadly blocks (due to flat balls high chance of missing the net). Also less control and overshooting when attacking. The all wood blade which usually is praised for pips rubbers felt to num for me. Less feeling lead to overcompensating but what I missed on both blades with this rubber were the emergency balls which i couldnt get over the net. The Harimoto fixed that problem for most of the part. Now I have the feeling im slowly learning to understand the rubber. WIldfire is a rubber that wants to be played actively. Don't get me wrong, the rubber offers a lot of deception and dead balls. Even some anti abilities due to anti sponge in it. But the mix with attacking and defense is the part where this rubber comes on top for me. Attacking wise it plays like a short pip offering a lot speed with mixed no spin balls, and some spin balls even. Pushes are fun depending on the angle of your bat you can give dead no spin balls or add backspin. This deception is a pain for opponents who have a lot trouble reading the ball. This results in net errors or pushing the ball a lil to high so you can counter with an attack fh or bh depending what you prefer. Blocking on the Harimoto is for me the most stable, with the lil extra arc the blade offers the balls will go over the net but will stil have enough deception, sink effect to cause trouble for the opponent. Im sticking with this rubber for the coming months to see what it can offer me more when im learning to know this rubberJan 13, 2026

Dr. Neubauer Explosion Pro

Review of Dr. Neubauer Explosion ProI have tried this rubber for a good month to see if I would get more deception then Spinfire. I can truly say that this rubber offers a great deal of deception. The balls have a great sinking effect when blocked/played actively. The deception is even more then most medium rubbers yet you can play agressively with it. It plays like a classic short pips rubber. If you are looking for a modern short pips like Spinfire/Victas 102 or something like that, stay away from this rubber. It requires an experient short pip player to control this rubber. I could not block consistently due to my experience and skill. After the first/second block the ball was uncontroable and you need to position perfectly all the time. Like i said the rubber has great deception which really makes opponents fear it. However it has a downside. Since it has such great sinking effect the ball is very very flat and if you dont adjust your blades angle all the time the ball will drop dead in the net. You will need a lot of practice with this rubber to control and master it. This rubber has potential in the hands of an experienced short pip player.Jan 21, 2025

SpinLord Keiler II

Review of SpinLord Keiler IIThis rubber is by far one of the best medium/short pips I have tried. It’s plays more like a modern short pips with a hard sponge which I absolutely love in my backhand. Excellent control if you master it’s speed. Cause this is one is fast, very fast. Tried it in 2.1 in my backhand but could not control that. The 1.8 was perfect for my allround offensive style of play. This rubber wants to be played active and active blocks give great deception with a ball hardly bouncing up. Passive blocks are also easy but more harmless so place them well else you will be a sitting duck. Short play is great and the rubber is hardly vulnerable for incoming spin. Opening up against backspin is best shot. Deceptive and hard to read for your opponent. It will either be a direct point or you get a big chance on the next ball. Creating own spin is doable but don’t expect massive like pips in rubbers but it gives more then the opponent expects it to be. Be careful with smashing since this rubber is very fast and reacts immediately. Start with 80% power before going all out. Weak point is heavy chopping away from the table. You can do one or two if you are cornered but you can’t rely on it. It’s better to loop/push it back with speed to fight your way back to the table. Absolutely not a beginners rubber cause you need some skill to control and master this one. If you are the offensive allround player who needs to defend ones in a while ready to take over when your opponent misses the chance then try this one.Jan 20, 2025
