Andro Rasant
Review of Andro RasantI'm around 1600 rating and use Xiom Aria 5-ply all wood shakehand blade, typically with Vega Pro on FH, although I had recently was using Omega IV Pro which felt way too fast with a rock-hard sponge. I use a very thin application of Butterfly Free chack.Rasant is reasonably fast, but not nearly as fast as I expected based on other reviews and compared to latest generation of tensors. Speed felt similar to Vega Pro. Rasant has a sponge that feels medium hardness with an extremely soft topsheet. Somehow the whole setup feels softer when playing than when pressing it with your finger. When looping the rubber really holds the ball a long time and produces a lot of spin with good speed. The feature I like most is the control. I felt like I couldnt miss when topspinning, even when making less than ideal contact. It actually felt like the sweet spot on my blade was enlarged. Ive never experienced that simply by changing rubber. The sound is also really loud and satisfying, and reminded me of Acuda S2. Hitting and smashing were less than average.Softer feel made it feel kind of sluggish. Short game is extraordinarily good. Returning serves with a short push is easy, giving me opportunities to attack on next ball. The great control makes me feel confident. Update: After 1 month, I went back to Vega Pro. Rasant plays well but felt too soft for me on FH. Jun 20, 2014

Butterfly Tenergy 05 FX
Review of Butterfly Tenergy 05 FXI bought this for my BH, and at first I wasn't too impressed. It's advertised as being a "control" version of Tenergy, but it is still quite fast and is very attack-oriented. I had to adjust a bit at first to compensate for the catapult from the sponge.Once I adjusted my stroke, I felt like I can do anything with this rubber. BH flicks, opening loops, drives, blocks were all very confident and effective. I flipped my racket around and started using it on my FH and I think I like it even more. Even from very close to the table, I feel like I can load up my attack shots and not miss. It is without a doubt the best rubber I've experienced for looping backspin balls. Even if I don't make optimal contact, my shots feel very effective, and many of my opponents couldn't deal with my opening loops. Nov 21, 2014

Donic Baracuda

Review of Donic BaracudaIt's fast but noticeably slower than other high-end rubbers, and this is one of the reasons I love it so much. You can put a big stroke on the ball with *complete* confidence. With good contact the spin you'll generate is absurd. The topsheet is super taut and the sponge feels medium hardness to me. The ball likes to take a nice long snooze on the rubber, allowing you to really load up the pushes and service. The short game is magnificent. Blocks are solid and certain. Of course this rubber was really made with the looper in mind, and it shines in this respect. You can use the sponge for a harder power loop, or just the topsheet for fine brush loop, both are filthy with topspin. Higher throw angle than anything I've encountered and takes a little adjustment. Looping backspin is ridiculously easy. Overall I definitely recommend this to any looper, especially if you've been missing too many shots long and want more control. I can't say enough how balanced this rubber is and will definitely buy it again. Only downside is the price. Currently using on BH on BTY Petr Korbel blade.Nov 21, 2012

Donic Acuda S2
Review of Donic Acuda S2I currently use this on BH side in 2.0 on Xiom Aria blade (5 ply wood). This rubber is a good choice for offensive players that want a great deal of control in their game. Its not too fast, and feels very linear in terms of speed being directly proportional to how much you put on it. It has very good spin, but not as much as I typically like and expect out of a tensor, especially on serves. I felt like it was very easy to hit the table on loops, drives and blocks due to the control factor. This rubber has one of the most unique and satisfying sounds when you make optimal topspin contact. Sponge hardness feels similar to Barracuda, maybe a bit harder.Update: I've had this on my BH for 5 months, and the topsheet shows hardly any signs of wear. Durability is better than anything I've used Jun 20, 2014

Tibhar Evolution MX-P
Review of Tibhar Evolution MX-PI read somebody else describe it as a hybrid of a Chinese and a jap/Euro rubber, and I agree. It's the best really fast rubber I've used for service. It's easy to keep the ball low, short, and spinny. Short game is really good.Once you start picking up the racket speed though, the sponge starts to compress and the speed is explosive. Here, the control isnt as good so you'll need to be really precise with your strokes. Loops are really fast, low and have heavy spin. Even against moderate backspin, I had to close my racket angle almost as if I was looping a dead ball. My 3rd ball attacks were insanely fast, but again, I felt like i needed to be very precise or I'd miss long. Counterlooping was tricky for me as well, unless I backed off from the table considerably. Smashing, hitting and blocking were also quite good. I recommend this to highly skilled and very agressive players, however if you like high, slow opening topspins, or prefer to loop/counterloop from close range you may not like it. Xiom Vega Pro
Review of Xiom Vega ProI originally started using Vega Pro in 2012, and although I've tried a bunch of other rubbers, I keep coming back to this on FH.I use max sponge on Xiom Aria 5-ply blade with a thin Btfly free chack application. It has a moderately hard feeling (which I prefer on FH). I get clear feedback and it's somewhat forgiving if I make less than optimal contact. It's easy to keep my serves and pushes low with good spin, almost like a chinese rubber. When looping I can use a big stroke close to the table and produce lots of spin and power, yet feel confident that I'll hit the table. This encourages me to play more aggressively and suits my game well. To be sure, there are many rubbers that will produce more spin and speed, but this still has plenty of both. The longevity is fantastic, and at $38 per sheet you'll be hard-pressed to find a better value. Jun 20, 2014

Xiom Omega IV Pro
Review of Xiom Omega IV ProI am around 1500 rating and use this rubber in 2.0 on FH on a Xiom Aria blade (5-ply wood). Coming from Vega Pro, Omega IV Pro has a noticeably harder sponge and faster speed. When flat hitting, you get a satisfying crack of the sponge and when looping a nice click.Flat hits, smashes and blocks: This rubber performs really well here. Blocks borrow all of the speed and spin of opponent's shot, and propel the ball back on the table. Smashes and drives are fun and satisfying. Push: The fast speed and hard sponge make service return harder to control, but the pushes are spinny and fast. After some adjustment I could drop them short over the net too. Requires a lot of finesse for the short game. Loop: Like Vega Pro, this rubber really grabs the ball and imparts tremendous spin. The sponge adds a lot more speed than Vega Pro. The result is lethal loops, but if you make sub-optimal contact you'll be punished. Update: This rubber is incredibly powerful, but just too fast for me to manage. I went back to Vega Pro and am much more confident now. Jun 20, 2014

Xiom Sigma II Pro
Review of Xiom Sigma II ProI've used Vega Pro on my FH for years, and gave this a try. It's much faster, and has a noticeably harder sponge. It reminded me a lot of Omega IV Pro.Personally, I really didn't like this rubber as I felt like I had to make perfect contact or I'd miss. Oddly enough, I was putting a lot of my loops and blocks in the net rather than missing long. It was difficult to engage and compress the sponge, so the overall feel was really unpredictable for me. Xiom Sigma II Euro
Review of Xiom Sigma II EuroI normally use Vega Pro on FH and decided to give this a try. Sponge is softer than Vega Pro, felt similar to 05-fx, perhaps a touch softer. It makes me feel really confident and like I have a "pause button" when I contact the ball. Control is amazing, and looping is fantastic. I found I can also counter-loop close to the table very easily. Hitting and smashing aren't as great. Pushes and serves are very good. Highly recommended. Dec 01, 2014
