Review of Butterfly Tenergy 19Switched “down” from Dignics05/80 FH/BH to T19 both sides on my Viscaria ALC. Throw on Dignics 05 was too high for me and the lift on D80 for my BH style was a problem. T19 solved for both! A terrific rubber - no compromise on playability compared to T05 with a medium-low throw, good enough penetration and easier backspin lift. 3rd opening is consistent and easy, most importantly my BH opening has improved drastically. Caveat: BH punches and blocks are less ‘deadly’ than Dignics and I miss the ‘snap’ but the consistency more than makes up for it; besides lesser spin sensitivity means my BH passive blocks are more predictable now. I think I have finally zeroed-in on my go-to rubber!

Review of Xiom Omega 8 ProI play Dignics05/80 on a Super Viscaria. I wanted to slow down and focus more on placement and control, without too much compromise on power. So got this (FH) and the O8Euro (BH) on a Xiom Hugo TMXi Pro Supreme blade. Initial experience: (1) good, linear speed esp effective when played close and ‘on the bounce’. (2) Sponge not too hard compared with Tibhar MX-P or Rasanter R53 etc and the top sheet does have a decent dwell for backspin lift. (3) Spin on loops and drive is average and requires effort - seems like a spin trade off for speed. (4) I found the throw arc a bit inconsistent - medium high at mid range and medium low from close table - perhaps because of my technique. (5) Easy on passive blocks, forgiving even on a not-so-good angle (my blocking is weak yet I found most balls landing!). I am not sure this will work for me as I miss the ‘bite’ and spin from my Dignics/viscaria combo. Of course, short play is better with O8Pro.

Review of Xiom Omega VIII EuroTrying this on BH with O8Pro on FH on a Xiom Hugo TMXi Pro supreme blade. Shifting from Dignics80 (BH) on a Super Viscaria, this is a big change in speed and power but excellent experience with (a) backspin lift / even difficult heavy spin serve returns, (b) blocks - very forgiving but bit low on power, (c) decent spin generation. My BH game is close to table so cannot comment on loops and mid distance effectiveness. Overall, a good rubber and can deliver in most situations.
