Review of Butterfly Tenergy 80Sorry guys but I hated this rubber on my Nittaku Violin and to me it would appear that it's a lot of hype due to the Butterfly name. I tried a sheet of 2.1 in black. I've been looking for a backhand rubber that has the same level of spin as Geospin Tacky but doesn't bottom out quite as much away from the table. I use Xiom Vega Elite max on the forehand in red. I found the Tenergy far too bouncy with too high a throw angle for me on either b/h or f/h. Also the spin available wasn't any better than the Xiom rubber which is half the price, just as fast and more control and a lot less than the Geospin. I found looping ok but had to change the angle of my attack considerably and never felt comfortable with it. serving and blocking was on a par with the Xiom. It might be that it just didn't suit my blade and my style so I will try it on a couple of others I have including my old Butterfly Surbek Hinoki from 1976! I'm not saying its a bad rubber, all I'm saying is that for the price I think two sheets of vega elite are better value and for less than the price of the Tenergy a sheet of Geospin and a sheet of Vega! I also found the rubber to be heavy and a little brittle when cutting it but that's not an issue when it's glued down. And getting rubber off the paddle theses days is easy unlike trying to remove the 1976 Sriver off the Surbek! If you love Tenergy anyway give it a go but if you've never tried it Xiom is a better buy IMHOUpdate: ok, I've just tried a sheet of 1.7mm black T80 on my Violin. What a revelation! All the hype is true! This is amazing stuff! Great spin, speed, control! Just amazing! Just goes to show, getting the right rubber / thickness for the blade and your style. Review of Yasaka Mark V 30°This is an excellent rubber and sponge combo.... For the right blade. If you have a slow blade this would be an excellent beginners rubber as it has masses of control and plenty of spin. I have put mine on a Nittaku Violin. It's a fairly fast but forgiving blade. It works equally well on BH or FH but I have it on the BH in Max. This combo is a dream team! I can do anything with it. The soft sponge gives loads of dwell time and the rubber grips like mad so looping is child's play! I have Joola Energy Xtra soft 2mm on the FH. I've now found my ideal blade and rubbers. It suits me as an attacking all rounder. Try it yourself! If you have that crazy fast blade that you can't control try a sheet of MkV 30deg. It's dirt cheap from certain outlets. I paid £16.95!
