Review of Butterfly Tenergy 64 FXI use Tenergy 64-FX on the backhand of a Kasumi Basic in 1.9. I switched from using Tenergy 05 only a couple days ago, and what a relief it has been! With 05, my shots were going off the table, when I tried to just hit and receiving was a definite issue. 64-FX has solved both those problems. I can do anything I want with it and looping with it from any distance- close or far- isn't difficult at all. Although the pushes sometimes go a little higher than I want, this is definitely a more all purpose rubber than 05. If you are a hardcore looper, than pick 05, but if you need to push or hit, try this out. You get more speed, a little less spin, but tons more control. If you really flick your wrists while using this on the backhand, your shots will come low and fast at your opponent. Cleaning this is a breeze and there are not any real problems with 64-FX (except maybe the pushing, but it's better than all the other Tenergys). Butterfly, many of your products may be overpriced, but at least when I paid my $64 and tried this out, I felt I got my money's worth.

Review of Butterfly Tenergy 05This rubber is probably one of the most talked-about rubbers on the database. Like it or hate it, the debate will continue. After using Tenergy 05 for eight months in 2.1mm, I've made my list of pros and cons. I'll start with the pros: the catapult effect and explosiveness of this rubber are very noticeable and once you learn to control it, you will be dangerous. The short game is made very easy with this rubber. Looping is out of this world, pushing isn't that difficult, and blocking is near automatic. As long as you angle your blade right, 05 will shoot the ball right to your opponent. Now the cons: it is great for looping and blocking, but not much else. Flat hitting and chopping are very unforgiving. When you try driving with it, getting it to stay on the table isn't easy. Having a high spin rating means it will be sensitive to opponents' spin, so serve receive is difficult if you're not sure of what you're doing. If you are player who loops and blocks a lot of the time, go with 05. If you are a looper who also wants the option to push, flat hit, or drive sometimes, I suggest you try Tenergy 64-FX.

Review of DHS NEO Skyline 3 TG3I bought this rubber for $22 and put it on the forehand of a Kasumi Basic blade in 2.1mm. I know the tackiness is what makes this rubber and other Chinese rubbers so unique and effective, but this might be a bit too tacky. The $22 price is great, but is kind of offset by the fact you have to buy cleaner and a sponge and wash it every 1-2 days. I mean, you can literally swing it around once or twice after you get it or clean it and there will be dust. If you play with it for one session and you will see it covered with dust. But from the moment I hit the ball, I was amazed. This rubber was a very pleasant surprise, considering it costs a third of what Tenergy costs. It is a great alternative to those who either use Tenergy on the forehand (and hate paying $64 a sheet) or want a relatively hard rubber they can loop and attack with. However, you really need good technique to unlock the potential of this rubber. Once you do, you can be unstoppable. The bounce on loops is very significant and you can play short even though this rubber was made to play from mid-distance (which is really easy to play from). Skyline 3 NEO is the rubber for third-ball kill. It will probably work best on forehand because of the high throw. I really can't say enough about Skyline 3; DHS, you made a winner that I will be loyal to for a long time. A $22 rubber that is close to (in my opinion, passes) Tenergy 05? Top this, Butterfly.

Nittaku Fastarc C-1

Review of Nittaku Fastarc C-1Used 2.0 on BH. You need technique to make this perform well, but after that, you will be rewarded. This is like a universal rubber. You can go on the offensive or play defensively when you need to. Nittaku wasn't kidding when they said "create artistic shots."

Review of Nittaku Narucross EX HardI use this in 1.9 on my forehand with a 5-ply wood blade. I don't care if this doesn't have the best speed or spin: I'm consistent with it and that's what matters. Looping, driving, blocking, pushing... I feel like I'm in complete control. When I use this, no part of my opponent's side of the table is out of reach...

Review of Tibhar Grip-S EuropeI used this for about 8 months before switching to Skyline 3 Neo. I had it in 1.8 on the forehand. Grip-S Europe gives you the best of both worlds. It's got the tackiness of Chinese rubbers and the speed of European tensors. The result is a rubber that produces great serves and looping. You can produce great amounts and varieties of spin on serves, block consistently, and the looping is great from many distances. The weakness of many rubbers like this is the pushing, but it is surprisingly easy. Only use this on the forehand, because its high throw angle seems the most natural on forehand strokes. I recommend Grip-S Europe to loopers who attack with or use their forehand a lot and use mainly forehand serves. However, if you are a person who hates hard rubbers or doesn't like a "woody" feeling when you hit the ball, you could try it in 2.0mm. This rubber is very underrated. I'm impressed, Tibhar!

Tibhar Aurus Soft
|
Review of Tibhar Aurus SoftUsed this in 2.1 on FH. It is great for looping and every type of shot, but the short game is difficult. You get great spin on serves, but it isn't always easy to keep them short. Mid-distance players will appreciate this the most. Not me, though. If you do get it, though, get it in 1.9.
