Review of Friendship/729 Cream Transcend

This was my first FH rubber several years ago based on reviews from this site. It was just a bit slower than I had expected. Not a bad rubber at all, with decent spin that I wasn't able to tap into back then. A good rubber to develop technique.

I had this on my FH for awhile. It was pretty good when new but now it just doesn't have any life left. The spin and throw really went down as it lost all of its slight tack and it aged. I still have it around as a spare sheet. Weight is 47 g in black 2.2(max), so medium-heavy, and about 66 g uncut.

I put this on my BH. Really good considering the price and it was faster than I thought it was going to be. In red, 2.1 weighs 45 g, so average, and 2.0 weighs 42 g. I think 2.0 uncut was 60 g.

Review of Gambler Outlaw (Tuned)

I had this on my BH for a short time. It was bouncy and I enjoyed this at the time as I had only used slower, tacky Chinese rubbers and was looking for a bit more speed. It wasn't very durable, though. I think it was the first and only rubber I cracked hitting the table when I tried it on my fh. I later put it on a mini-paddle and the sponge cracked all around the edges. Weight was about 38 g in red 2.15.

I had this on my FH several years ago. Nothing really stood out. A typical, medium-hard rubber but with low durability. The sponge crumpled when I carefully tried to remove it from my blade. The top sheet also began to separate from the sponge. I'm not sure they still make this rubber anymore.

I had this on my BH several years ago. I liked it more than the LKT black power I had on my fh. It was a good, balanced rubber.

Review of Xiom Vega Pro

Used on FH. Non-tacky, medium-hard, medium-heavy, High-throw, great looping rubber. Soft touch close to the net, not bouncy at all(on my 729 bomb) like I was expecting for a tensor. Weight in black max is 47 g cut, so medium-heavy, and 67 g uncut. I noticed about 1 mm shrinkage after 4 months.

Review of Xiom Vega Europe

Used on BH. Non-tacky and soft topsheet, medium-soft sponge, medium-light weight, medium to medium-low throw rubber. Had a much lower throw angle than vega pro when looping both on my fh. This did make it easier to block on bh(which is one of the reasons I got it for its lower rated throw angle) but I felt that the soft sponge bottomed out too much(even in max) and too often(even at lower speeds like say flat fh medium warmup) for my liking. The softness also limited the speed of my bh smashes, for which I can probably engage(compress) a harder sponge for a bit more speed. With the blade coming into play sooner, the spin becomes limited at this point creating a flatter arc than vpro. Weight in red max is 41 g cut, so medium-light, and 60 g uncut. I noticed about 1-2 mm shrinkage after 4 months.
