Friendship/729 Presto Spin Max
Review of Friendship/729 Presto Spin MaxThis is a good find for me. Rubber can be confidently used on both FH and BH. I like it more on BH, because of throw angle is a bit too high for my FH, however I tried to play and can adjust easily. For BH it is good at finishing shots with high speed power, at slow loops, at flat push. The BH underspin push require more skills, I'd say for people with average or low skills it will be challenging. But if mastered you can win many points by pushing fast long underspin balls. This is possible due to throw angle and top sheet. Speed: Rubber is not dead, its not your classic Chinese, but still feels harder than MX-S, but more control. Aggressive flicks on serve receive can win outright points due to speed, you can receive medium or long serve this way. Control: Very high, no concerns here, just watch out for underspin pushes as these may spring out fast. Block: Due to high control - very easy. Medium hard sponge does it job very well. However, blocks quality depend more on the blade than rubber. Stiffer blade - easier to block. This is my go to BH rubber these days.Sep 26, 2020

Palio HK1997 Gold
Review of Palio HK1997 GoldOne of the best from Palio. As you might already know, the key feature of this model is elastic top-sheet. This means high spin. How to check? Bounce ball on the racket and watch how it starts spinning without you doing any special brushing. Press finger onto top sheet and observe how it bends. This rubber is for working with the ball for spin. Because of throw angel (medium or higher), it is good at BH. Flat blocks are fast. Grip is perfect for lifting with flicks or slow loops. You can trust this rubber when taking ball at the low point, below or near the table level. This rubber will still throw the ball over the net. It is made for brushing. Many people mentioned booster. I noticed that on the package it is stated that model designed to work without booster. It works. The downside - durability. It cannot last as long as H3 or modern tensors, but it costs $15, so change often. Not good if you have powerful stroke. The arc of the ball becomes very flat if you fire with force. Away from the table be careful. If you know FastArc C1, you will recognise familiar vibration as top sheets are both elastic, but Palio has more power potential because it is more linear than C1. I don't know how people in their reviews are making up magic numbers "spin 9 speed 10" and blah. Boy, these properties (spin and speed) depend on technique, blade angle and etc. I found a good combo where this rubber opens up - wooden blade with hard top layer (ebony, walnut) The hard top works with elastic top sheet and medium hard sponge. I use STN on FH, so for me HK Gold throws too high on forehand. It is also a little tacky, which I do not pay attention to. H3, Battle2, STN are tacky monsters, so this one cannot compete with them in tackiness. We get HK Gold for spin produced by elastic top, not for tackiness. I used many pieces it, can say that it plays very well straight from the package, no need to do any breaking-in or oiling. Do not re-glue. Removing it breaks the sponge, makes rubber curlJul 23, 2023

Reactor Corbor Pro
Review of Reactor Corbor ProDescription of this rubber is not accurate. "Yet loops can still be effortlessly played and comfortably controlled. You will be a much greater player with less effort." - Not true. This is a very slow rubber with very low throw angle. I had it on classic 5 ply all wood Primorac. You have to put a lots of effort to do a medium fast shot.In the average TT club tackiness does not hold long, it will fade away after 30 min of play (until you clean the rubber). Unlike other rubbers, for example 729, H3, 3-60 - all of them can be wiped using your wet palm and at least medium tackiness will come back; not the case with this Corbor. This rubber accumulates dirt in such a way that only proper cleaning using sponge can help. This is FH rubber. Cannot imaging anyone playing on BH. Description is correct when mentioning a long arch. Yes arc is flat and long, with significant kick effect. Basically 99% of killer shots will give attacker a point. Despite this fact, they are hard to land. So low throw it is double sided sword edge - hard for your opponent and hard for you. Only two positive points - 1) Low throw angle - good to polish FH attack, it has very small margin for mistakes. Makes sense to use it as training tool. 2) Cheap. Everything else is complicated with Corbor Pro. My guess is this rubber wants to be boosted. I haven't tried. Aug 08, 2020

Sanwei Target National

Review of Sanwei Target NationalHi, I am not writing a full review for STN. This rubber has already gained a lots of complements from many players, positive reviews are plenty available in the Internet. I just wanted to add some information for people who is thinking of giving this rubber a try.Re-gluing. This rubber does not like re-gluing. Please be advised that only H40 sponge can be confidently re-glued. When cleaning old glue from H40 sponge, the sponge may remain intact. Re-gluing H39 and especially 1.8mm is bad idea. Sponge is too soft, as the most of cake sponges. So, once you glue let it sit there for 90 hours then you decide what to do. If you are going to re-glue, then again be advised that this rubber curls inwards, so gluing it back is a pain in the bum. Part 1: Please be careful when choosing thickness and hardness. STN comes with a choice of three thickness - 1.8, 2.1 and MAX which is probably 2.2mm. On top of that the hardness can be 40 or 39. For some weird reason only a few shops accurately advertise specs. Over years I've seen no spec given or they sell MAX but it's no clear what hardness. Due to the heavy sponge, MAX with H40 will be very heavy... when cut to viscaria size shake hand grip the weight of the sheet will be 56 - 54g. This is very heavy. The most pleasant and predictable sheet of STN is 2.1mm H39 black. In this specification expect 50g when cut. This will be the sweet spot spec. Not too heavy, not too bouncy. My personal trick is that I glue STN leaving 3-4mm gap between rubber and handle. This allows to lower the weight (I like head heavy racket as everything is easier with it). Many reviews claim that STN is tacky but for a short time. All you need to do is to wash your sweat after every training using one drop of liquid soap. The tack will come back, maybe even too much for some people. Durability of top sheet. Over the years I have never been able to get more than 100 quality play hours from this rubber. 92 - 100 hours is a sweet spot. Then change. Jan 11, 2022

Yinhe Jupiter II

Review of Yinhe Jupiter IIPlaying with H38 red on BH as exercise to improve brushing technique over three months period. I play Chinese style using hard rubbers on flexible wooden blades. Jupiter 2 is no exception, it rather a good attempt to clone H3 Neo. Because of factory booster, initially it played faster than I expected but I adjusted quickly. If I was to choose between original version - H3 Neo and it's clone - Jupiter 2, I'd go with H3.As many noticed it has rather high throw making it good on BH. However, softest version in the line H38 is still hard, so brushing with this rubber requires extra skills - precision and timing. (That is why I use it). Once you over that cliff then rubber will open up and you will be able to use it to your advantage. It is very difficult to chop using Jupiter2. After 50hrs of play my BH is improving big time. Wrist muscles are becoming stronger, I am playing lots of BH top spin shots to finish the point. Basically it feels like this rubber was designed for power play, it requires force to put sponge into action. Passive shots are very silly, with little spin and unforgiving. If you are not playing powerful game then do not expect lots of spin from Jupiter2. However with force spin is good (but this is true for most of grippy products). In my opinion any version of H3 is much spinier. Flat smashes are horrible, but I am not good at doing it anyway. Powerful opening attacks with BH can be deadly due to boosted sponge. Just need to get brushing timing right. Maybe it's me but I find it very hard to serve short with spin! (Never had this with other Chinese rubbers). Contrary - it is easy to serve long and fast. Control on this rubber is as expected - good. Quality, durability and packaging is a way above its' price tag. Similar to Neo - solid sponge easy to cut, glue is already applied, no need to put any glue on the sponge. Aug 08, 2020
