CTT National Pride

Review of CTT National PrideI am comparing this rubber to 729-5:The sponge looks the same. The pips are the same diameter as 729-5's but a bit longer. This gives the top sheet a bit more bounce but also more flexibility which makes it easier to loop with. It seems tackier than 729-5 but time will tell. (Both rubbers are quite tacky when new.) I like this rubber, but then I also like 729-5. Others who like -5 might want to give this rubber a try. I plan to stick with this rubber and see how it ages but so far so good. I think the throw is lower than 729-5 but I've been able to adjust. Reviews of this rubber on Euro sites in other languages are pretty good but you have to search hard and translate them to read them! The rubber seems more popular outside N. America. Update 10/21/2013: I've been using this rubber on and off for 6 months on a Galaxy T11+. It's been in storage for about half that time, so it's not too worn out. I've decided to use it on my BH because I find it easier to control than on FH and it gives my BH a lot more spin as well as some catapult effect. Here's why: This rubber has long pips, but it's a tacky inverted rubber! This can produce a lot of spin, so I'm raising my Spin rating to 9. It's tackier than 729-5; the sponge is 2.0 (2.2 may not be available for this rubber), but the long pips and flexible top sheet make a thicker sponge unnecessary. I think this rubber can do it all, if you work on your technique. The spin is more predictable than with LP non-inverted rubbers because it's inverted! Oct 21, 2013

Friendship/729 SP Transcend
|

Review of Friendship/729 SP TranscendThe Transcend sponge on the black sheet from ZeroPong is NOT hard -- it's medium. I was expecting a harder sponge based on some of the reviews here. The rubber is very tacky. This, along with the not-so-hard sponge slows down the ball, even on a fast blade. So you can hit hard and generate a lot of spin with good control, but if you just want to kill the ball, there are better choices. Serves are very spinny of course. So if you want to play a spinny game close to the table, this is a great rubber, but for smashes, or playing far from the table, a harder sponge would be better. Maybe that's available with this top sheet somewhere on the planet! Dec 11, 2013

KTL (LKT) Red Diamond
|

Review of KTL (LKT) Red DiamondI was looking for a semi-tacky rubber so I tried this one based on reviews. Well, my sheet was not semi-tacky; it was VERY tacky! And it came with a LKT TACKY rubber protective sheet to help maintain its tackiness.I like this rubber for FH, but it's too tacky and slow for my BH. Not a bad choice if you like tacky rubbers. The topsheet is soft and flexible so it can loop! The sponge was medium, but hard enough for me to feel the ball. The tackiness seems to last longer than the 729 stuff I've tried. Unless you need a harder sponge, or a very soft one, this rubber might be for you. Quality is very good but I wish it came in black so I could use it with other red rubbers! Update: Once some of the tackiness wears off, it works on my BH too. Still wish it came in black though, so I could use it on both sides! Feb 24, 2015

Yinhe Venus 2
|

Review of Yinhe Venus 2This is a long-lasting tacky Chinese rubber with good speed and lots of spin, available with several different sponge densities.I've tried 40, 39 and 37 degrees, all of which have the expected properties (harder sponges are heavier and faster with less dwell time). Some may prefer softer sponges for chopping, which are available, but I prefer medium to hard because I like to feel the ball when I hit it.. Any review should take the sponge hardness into account. A fast blade such as the T11+ works well with this rubber and the tackiness lasts longer than the 729 stuff I've tried, which includes black 729 SP. This rubber can still pick up and hold a ball after several months of heavy use with regular cleaning and protective film applied after each use. It's very durable. If you like tacky Chinese rubbers, and want to choose your sponge density, try this one! Aug 14, 2014
