Andro Hexer Grip
Review of Andro Hexer GripI have always been looking for something that grabs the ball well, not heavy weighted, ad with good control.I was using ELS on my backhand for a while, liked it, but wanted tiny bit more control while maintaining the spin. This rubber, Hexer Grip, serves me well. It feels like what I was looking for. If anyone tried Aurus Select before and was slightly disappointed then this will make you happy. I had gone through several sheets of Aurus Select before was felt like it was lacking something, some more feel, some more spin. The 45 degree sponge means it is a little forgiving. The control reminds me of the good old Acuda S2? Not that they are from the same generation but the level of control is definitely there. Also, like the Acuda S2, it is springy but not too explosive, sort of like a "slow" kind of springy? Unlike the Acuda S2, Hexer Grip grips and picks up the ball well and and allow you to do delicate shots like the banana flip. If you are a very hard hitter, you better off trying Hever Powergrip maybe? Since harder sponge suits harder style of strokes. On the other hand if you are more a pro-placement kind of player like I am, then Hexer Grip is definitely worth a try. Additional note about whether to use it on backhand or forehand. I personally have developed a very strong backhand, I hit, spin, and flick the ball a lot while staying close to table. At an amateur level, playing 3 times a week, Hexer Grip suits me well. Its not too soft for a confident attacking shot. My forehand is relatively weak, a lot weaker than my backhand, so Hexer grip is hard enough for my forehand. I only use forehand for transitional strokes, and only when the ball pops up high. Again, If your forehand is good and can hit harder than your backhand, maybe consider Hexer PwoerGrip or other rubbers with harder sponge (PowerGrip version, EL-S, MX-S, etc) Feb 14, 2019

Review of Nittaku FactiveI like this a lot.My forehand is my weaker side, I use my backhand to attack a lot more. This works well on my forehand. I focus on placement and spin with this on forehand. When done properly, this rubber has enough speed to win points. Think Samsonov (placement). Bluestorm Z1 on backhand Apr 29, 2020

Tibhar Evolution EL-S

Review of Tibhar Evolution EL-SI like it a lot. But then I also liked MXP, and MXS a lot.Is it the perfect rubber? No it is not. It does not have the long and fast trajectory like MXP, and not the same strong spin like MXS. However it works well in which every ball will land on the table with safety. Again, it lacks the killing speed of MXP, and strong spin of MXS. But when you use it well, quality of shots are still very decent. A solid above average rubber. 2021 Update: It remains a good rubber for developing players. However as you progress, you may find it a bit slow. Waiting for EL-D now. Tibhar Evolution EL-D
Review of Tibhar Evolution EL-DTibhar says this rubber plays "noticeably different than the also excellent EL-P and EL-S versions..."I can confirm that EL-D does play fairly differently to EL-S, which was one of my favourite rubbers. I attribute the difference to the new sponge used for EL-D. It feels somewhat similar to the sponge on the original Rasanter series (R47, R42) without feeling exactly the same. The original EL-S feels slow with the new plastic ball. It is still a good rubber for developing players. On the other hand, EL-D is quite a fast rubber. It is easy to find the white line with EL-D, the trajectory is both high and long. It goes without saying that this is not for developing players as the ball does ping off the bat relatively quickly. Compare to MX-P, the throw is higher and therefore blocking felt different. Once adjusted, I found myself doing more active blocking which resulted in a spinier ball. The new 45-47 degree sponge does make looping quite easy, but you do need to have a quicker snap to get the most of it. A feedback I have received is that my backhand loops feels slightly slower leaving my bat but kicks more after second bounce (which indicates good spin). I will continue to use EL-D on the backhand side of my Clipper CR. Sep 12, 2022

Xiom Omega VII Euro
Review of Xiom Omega VII EuroIt is a good rubber and here is why.Firstly, it is definitely designed for the new balls (mid 2018 as of today). It does not spin like the spinnest rubber out there, but it grips the ball so well! Thesedays many rubbers do not grip so well anymore. I tbelieve in order to impart spin on the ball for shots like the banana flick, you need to grip the ball in the limited amount of time and space given. This series, Omega VII Pro & Euro, does that well. Secondly, it’s light. I have tried both Pro and Euro, they are a lot lighter than many rubbers out there. So using it on at least one side of the bat will help bringing down the weight and adjust balance of the setup. When used on both sides, you save a lot of weight and can recover from your strokes a lot quicker. Note that for people who prefer heavy setups, you might not want to use it on both side. Personally I enjoy lighter and softer setup as my swings are more compact due to my own abilities. Thirdly, this rubber controls well. The Pro version shoots off quicker, and to some it might be too quick. On the other hand this euro version, it is a little more steady than the Pro, and still give you way more than enough speed to kill and finish the set off. Need not to say that the softness of the sponge helps in the control department by giving you more dwell and feeling. I use it on both sides of my setup. I appreciate Jun Mizutani’s style so I kinda play like him. I do a lot of backhand flicks, punches, loops, sometimes even logs off the table. My girl friend uses this Euro version on her forehand side. She is a close to table attacker, and she is enjoying a lot more safety and dwell time compare to when she was using the Pro version. Apology for lengthy writing. I don’t usually write review, but I felt like this rubber deserves a shout out. Have fun playing table tennis people! Jun 26, 2018

Yasaka Rakza 7

Review of Yasaka Rakza 7A good rubber with long dwell time (maybe too long, if used on wood blade). Its throw angle suggests its meant for looping, not hitting or punching. Most would prefer it on backhand. I use it on my forehand at the moment because of its controllability.Dec 22, 2019
