The perfect solution for a beginner who is serious about table tennis. Put a hard rubber like this on an all around, all wood blade and it will teach you how to feel, brush and spin the ball. You will learn how to play the strokes correctly otherwise they will end on the net or off the table.
I have been playing/ developing my stroke and skill for only a couple months and shortly after beginning, decided to replace the junk rubber on an inexpensive premade bat with these rubbers. All the guys in my club told me i should start with sriver, but i wanted to learn on something inexpensive to make mistakes with in learning how to properly care for my rubbers. I also wanted to be able to maintain consistency with rubbers early in my game to focus on technique and I figured if I damaged these, I could replace easily and cheaply. This has been a fantastic rubber to learn on! After just a couple months playing on these rubbers, i have been able progress very quickly, developing solid fh and bh skill, and offering real competition against much higher skilled players with tenergy 05s. All the guys in my club have stopped telling me to get different rubbers after seeing my progression. Work really well for defensive play and I can still offer decent offensive moves when needed. I might upgrade to something else eventually, but I'm pretty sure I'll be good on these for at least a year. They have held up really well so far, cleaning with just water and keeping in plastics. I'm interested to see how much life I can get out of them. Picked up a couple more sets just in case at crazy cheap prices on ebay. They are really tacky right out of the pack but after a little bit of play, i think they settle into a level of tack. All of the guys at my club say they are a very good beginner rubber after checking them out.
I can say that for the $5 price I paid on alixpress it is an amazing product for beginners and amateurs.
The bounce test, ball is not bouncing very high but that is becouse of the tack of the rubber. When tacky get worn off, the bounce will be bigger. But overall this rubber is quite fast.
The control is not amazing as the hardness of the sponge is medium hard, if it was softer the control would be higher.
I glued it on my Atemi 300 board, using dragon rubber/hide glue and it works, not bad at all.
It's better for technical game, not very offensive and fast game.
The smell is not as bad as some might say, I can only smell it when I get very close to the rubber, by the way after a week the smell had worn off.
For the price this rubber is really awesome. It is really easy to loop and create spin, but in combination with an All blade you find a low speed. But in the other hand there is a benefit about this speed, that helps you to improve your strokes and learn how to use your strength to create speed on the ball. So I really recommend this rubber for beginners and intermediate players that are focusing on improving your movements. I have tested with a Joola Carbon Pro blade on both sides (BH and FH), and also gave me an great control of the ball.
You can really make of it something resembling Sriver (15 times cheaper though, he-he) by removing tackiness with PO and severely glueing/boosting. Without those actions the thing is pretty useless playing similar to unglued old-style chinese rubbers.
The sponge is 41 deg.
