About Me

Playing the sport 50 years and counting, I've gone through dozens of blades and hundreds of rubber sheets. I hit my highest rating of 2128 in 1994 using Mark V on a Stiga Clipper. Currently I'm searching for lightweight equipment to reduce stress on my wrist.

There is no holy grail of equipment, what you lose in one area you gain in another. "Control" is a garbage metric created by manufacturers to sell product. Control depends mostly on the style and technic of the player combined with the blade and the rubber. It's meaningless to assign a control number to a rubber or blade without the full context. What I value most is margin of error. Judge your equipment by how viable the shot is when you hit it a little to soft or hard, a little to soon or late, miss the sweet spot on the blade, or misread the spin a bit?
