Andro Temper Tech OFF-
Review of Andro Temper Tech OFF-If God (or your choice of supreme being [ wife, boss,Ma Long?] ) told me I could play with only one blade(heaven [or your choice of nirvana] forbid) it would be this one. An example of the overall performance being greater than the sum of it's individual attributes, this would have to be the most well-rounded blade in my quiver. What stands out the most (for me) about the TT is it's large sweet spot. Mine seems equal to most of my composites and has better feel and feedback .Brings out the best in all the rubbers I've tried on it,be they European or Chinese. Suited to a very wide range of playing styles and abilities.Stable, linear ,user friendly. Good up to mid distance, but you must generate your own power if you want more than off- speed. I find this blade fun to play with and it's versitility and success rate make for a very satisfying experience. So, if I was standing at the Pearly Gates (or your choice of immortal portal) I'd make sure they have this blade in stock! TG2 neo F/H , M3 B/H Nov 08, 2017

Avalox Ma Wenge C555 Carbon

Review of Avalox Ma Wenge C555 CarbonPlayed this blade last night with sigma II euro FH and vega euro BH. What a superb blade! Excels in all aspects of the game with no apparent weaknesses.I am a spin based offensive player but have a good background in allround skills, and the blade performed very well regardless of stroke I was attempting. The blade is of medium stiffness/hardness with these rubbers, and is fairly user friendly with a rating between off- and off. It's best attribute would have to be it's looping ability, be it brush loop, loop drive or counter loop.It blocked well but is not as good as a stiffer/thicker /harder blade as mine is relatively thin at 5.8mm (which I prefer).Newer models may be thicker as I've seen 2 sites advertising 6.4 mm .Blade is light weight at 83 gm and feels well balanced with these max rubbers, with good feedback, minimal vibration, large sweet spot.I haven't tried any other rubbers on it, but from experience I presume tacky chinese rubbers would also perform well (especially on FH). Flared handle is comfortable but small for larger hands (I used grip tape).I would highly recommend this blade to any intermediate or advanced player who wants a fast efficient looping blade which is also strong in other aspects of the game. ( qualifications/ experience; owned about 20 blades, more than 30 rubbers) 15 June 2017 Jun 24, 2017

Donic Appelgren World Champion 89
Review of Donic Appelgren World Champion 89This is an excellent blade if you are an allround or controlled offensive player. The all+ rating is accurate but with such an abundance of gears this blade can be pushed from def through to off with ease. The combination of wood and composite material are really well matched, giving small high frequency vibrations which let you feel the ball on the blade and provide you with a comparatively "woody" feeling. The large sweet spot increases consistancy across your entire range of strokes resulting in more balls on the table. With P2 F/H and Maxx P B/H I could generate loads of spin, and the great control meant I could concentrate more on placement (much to my opponents detriment).Speed is mostly moderate, but fast loops/drives/ smashes are possible, but I feel this blade might struggle beyond mid distance. So if you want an extremely capable blade for variable play tending off, then I can highly recommendthe Appelgren W/C 89. Donic Xtreme

Review of Donic XtremeAlthough I haven't posted any reviews for quite a while, I have been on quite an EJ journey, and now have far toomany blades and rubbers than is sensible, but it's been fun. This blade is one that deserves mention and review. 83gms flared, Battle 3 (38*),Gewo EL Pro superselect 48. I bought this at an actual physical store (Rodneys Table Tennis) which had 3 examples to choose from, 77gm,83 gm,89 gm, so quite a variance in weight.I was sorely tempted by the 77gm one (I like light blades) but purchased the middle weight which is still reasonably light. My blade seems to have a fairly neutral balance, feels easy to maneuver, total weight 180 gms with grip tape (handle is smallish for my large hands). One of the things that attracted me about this blade was the double limba layers (my favorite wood ply). Gives the blade a very supple feel, flexible and not too hard,so that you don't feel the carbon much, but it's there, and aids you when you start to increase your swing speed.Power delivery is linear/progressive and the blade doesn't feel excessively fast. Blocking is great- easy to add power or spin, and can take the heat off an incoming powerloop if you so desire. Feeling in hand is good for a carbon blade with slight vibrations. The hard carbon feel is nullified to a good degree by the limba layers,so you get a direct but soft feel. If I had to compare my blade with others I own, probably the closest would be my Butterfly inner force ZLC. Same soft flexy springy feeling, but while the ZLC may have a slightly better higher end,it is "twitchier" than the xtreme and more prone to lose a bit of control, where as the xtreme is almost as fast but more stable and predictable, and really suits the modern topspin offensive game.I also think the feeling of the xtreme is superior as well. At the moment,my Xtreme would be in the top 5 of the hundred + blades I own.Highly recommended! Jun 23, 2025

Donic Zhang Jike New Era
Review of Donic Zhang Jike New EraGreetings- well, caught the EJ virus (again) and bought one. 85 gm, GoldArc 9 (38*) and Domination Speed 2 (whichfeels about 45* ESN hardness). Have had 2 sessions with it so far. This is a very nice blade, but not really innovative despite the fact it has a "new" and different composite fibre. It is a high perfomance, modern blade aimed at the experienced offensive player, and it fulfills it's intended function very well, but does not stand out amongst it's peers. My impression/rating of it's hardness/stiffness would be 6/10, so the feeling is slightly hard with some (but not much) flex.It is fairly direct without feeling harsh, and the sensation of ball on blade comes through clearly. Blade is solid and stable so blocking is easy.Loops and topspins well, but I wouldn't consider this a dedicated looping blade, more of an offensive blade for all strokes. So, although I was impressed by the Donic New Era and it has my recommendation,it is just another very good blade in a market crowded with very good blades. Aug 12, 2025

Donic Persson Jubilee 40
Review of Donic Persson Jubilee 40Hi- Persson Jubilee 88gm,Tronix ACC (47.5*) both sides. Very nice blade from Donic, good quality and well made. This blade seems like a slightly upgraded Waldner senso carbon although it has a solid handle and acrylate carbon. Marginally stiffer/harder than WSC with about 15% more speed and slightly more stable,it performs at a very high level.Would be a great alternative to something like Bty innerforce alc, Treiber C/I,Fang Bo carbon etc,and even some of the latest blades with the flash composites. Won't be around for much longer, so if you want a truly great blade that does everything very well I wouldn't hesitate! Jun 17, 2026

Dr. Neubauer Magical Touch
Review of Dr. Neubauer Magical TouchGreetings - Having had fond memories of a Dr Neubauer Firewall plus,I decided to try the Magical Touch thinkingit might be similar but better overall- thinner,no balsa core,7 ply, perhaps more flexible and still reasonably soft feeling. With that expectation I mounted Dr. Neubauer Dominance Spin Hard (Max) on both sides and the result was --- underwhelming. At first I thought this was due to the rubbers, as they were quite hard, not tensioned, and didn't have any catapult or dynamicism- kind of like some hard Chinese rubbers with no booster. Changed the rubber to 2 T05fx, and all the parameters improved, but not as much as I'd hoped. So after about 10 sessions with the blade my impressions are --- this blade is much stiffer than indicated and feels med hard but fairly stiff. While that is not necessarily a problem, it is accompanied by a low/med rebound speed which makes it less responsive, even with the bouncy Tenergy rubbers. When looping it felt like the rubbers were doing the majority of the work with the blade adding little unless you put in greater effort than usual. Feeling, control and blocking were good. So not a bad blade for close to table play, but I have many better 7 ply wood blades. Aug 20, 2026

Loki Kirin K5

Review of Loki Kirin K5Thought this veneer combination looked good on paper and it is in practice. one of those blades that feelreally nice in the hand,is user friendly, but surprisingly dynamic for a 5 ply wood blade.Had a tenergy 05 and a sigma 2 pro on it, but thought it was a little too bouncy so changed to Battle 3(38*) and bloom power (45*), and this combo still gave me power and spin without being jumpy. The only negative (for me) was the weight- blade was advertised at 78 +- 5 gms- my 1st example was 88g-ordered a second for a club mate 89g- ordered a third and asked for a light example , got 92gms, so very heavy for a 5 ply blade, but this could be beneficial for speed and stability. So very good performance and recommended if you can handle the weight. Jul 18, 2025

Nittaku Acoustic Carbon Inner Large Handle
Review of Nittaku Acoustic Carbon Inner Large HandleExcellent blade ,but I found it quite different in comparison with some of my other carbon blades. The feeling is soft, even at higher swing speeds, and the blade's carbon layers are less apparent, so it retains an all wood feel more than any other carbon blade I've tried so far. It may not feel very "crisp" or "lively" to some of you, especially those who use blades with carbon under the top veneer, or all wood blades with a hard outer layer. However, the speed is still there and I would rate this in the high off-/lower off category.Dwell is high, control and feedback are excellent, and the effort/effect ratio would have to be the most consistent I have encountered. So far I have only tested this with Grip F/H, JP03 B/H , but due to the inner carbon and limba/limba outer plies I think this blade would benefit from harder rubbers, (47 - 50 degrees).Soft or very soft would make the blade feel mushy. This blade would suit an offensive topspin player or even an experienced allrounder as it is not overly fast, creates great spin, and is fairly benign in nature. The only reservations I have about the Acoustic Carbon is the high price and the weight (90+ gm) which with max rubbers results in a heavy and head heavy setup. Palio CAT
Review of Palio CATI purchased 3 of these blades,2 of them for other players whose skill levels were below my own, and for both their 1st custom set up. I had read some positive reviews and thought this blade would suit them without spending lots of cash, and would let them progress without overtaxing them whilst learning.I kept the 3rd blade as I was curious as to how it would perform and mounted 2 boosted (falco long ) 999T rubbers on it. This setup exceeded my expectations and is especially good when I am struggling with control but still want extreme spin. I often use it in doubles matches as its ease of use helps with out of position issues which occur more often in doubles.I feel this blade can be used by players of varying abilities, just choose appropriate rubber and the Cat will bring out the best in them. Although this blade is not that fast, as a close to table player I had no problems with speed, hitting drives and smashes past my opponents. In my opinion control is underrated on this db due to one particularly low rating, should be in the 9s.So,the Cat is; -light -stable -large sweet spot -inexpensive (under $20 US) -good for beginners - intermediate level -neither too thick nor thin (6mm) -user friendly Oct 13, 2017

Palio King Yue
Review of Palio King YueHad my 4th session with this blade tonight, and I'm sad to say it has not suited me in a variety of ways.I found my version to be too hard and stiff, resulting in less dwell and more prone to overshoot the table as I couldn't control the arc of my loops well. The blade makes a high pitched "tock" when bouncing a ball on it, which usually indicates a blade that is harder and therefore stiffer. With 11 layers of wood and composite material, it's got 10 layers ofglue as well,so no wonder it's not at all soft or flexible. The Yue was slightly head heavy with 2 GA5 med thickness 42.5 degree rubbers, which also exacerbated the feeling that it was not a great looping blade. The flared handle was extremely small and even a layer of grip tape did not suffice. So although this blade did not match my playing style (spin), it feels very solid and stable and I think it would suit a hitter/blocker/smasher more. Feb 06, 2018

Palio Hidden Dragon
Review of Palio Hidden DragonPlayed with Double Fish Qiji loop and Big Dipper 38*. This blade is not well known and has only one rating onRevspin, which is a shame because it has excellent playing properties. A 7 ply all wood blade 5.8mm thick and weighs 85 gm, it retains the speed and stability of a 7 ply, but has the control of a 5 ply. Similar to my Fextra, but slightly better overall. Not sure of it's exact ply construction, but definitely a Limba top ply. Out of all my 7 ply wood blades (24) this is the most balanced. Enough speed, great feeling, very good control, inexpensive. I seem to have better success with this blade than some of my much more costly (e.g. Koki Niwa wood) blades. Highly recommended to everyone, especially lovers of all wood blades. PingMaster SL OFF Carbon
Review of PingMaster SL OFF CarbonI have both the T11 and T11+ in my collection, but have not played them much recently as I am a loop oriented player and prefer thinner blades with more flex and dwell time. I really liked both blades though, and often thought a thinner T11 (or +) would fit more with my playing style. The pingmaster sl carbon is that blade. Made by Yinhe, it is a thinner T11+ (5+2) which weighed 72g at 5.7 mm thick. It is slower but more controlled than T11+, I would rate it as off- with slower rubbers tending off with fast tensors.More user friendly than either of it's big brothers,it doesn't have some of the drawbacks of the thick reactive balsa core, so blocking fast heavy loops was easier and less likely to go long.It had more control in general play and I found it better for varying the speed and arc of my loops.Of course the sweet spot is slightly smaller (being thinner) and it loses some pace. I play close to the table and feel that the blade would only be efficient up to mid distance- it doesn't have the mass or power from further away.Relatively stable, feedback was good for carbon blade, only slight vibrations, light and manouverable. So if you are looking for a more spin oriented, less reactive looping blade than theT11+ I can highly recommend this blade. (Tested with Omega V Euro both sides). 19 June 2017 Jun 18, 2017

Sanwei FEXTRA 7
Review of Sanwei FEXTRA 7This blade is almost an amalgamation of a 5 and 7 ply, so has the the best of both worlds. A bit thicker (6mm) than a traditional 5 ply, it is slightly more stable for blocking and flat hits, but being thinner than most 7 plys, it still loops and topspins really well.Medium hardness and some flex give you good arc and the sweetspot is large for an all wood blade. It's off- in nature with that great wood feel and excellent control. I've had about 6 sessions with this blade and it compliments my spin based allround/offensive style. Very reasonably priced (about $30 US dollars),it is a blade that has made a very good impression on me. Tested with Yasaka Shining and Rising Dragon 2mm. Dec 14, 2017

Xiom Hayabusa ZL Pro
Review of Xiom Hayabusa ZL Pro84gms flared, Big Dipper 38*,Rakza 7I really wanted to like this blade.Saw the initial reviews, and thought it would be eminently suitable for my game. Unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. I imagined soft, flexible, supple, but with some power from the composite, and the stats and 1st reviews seemed to indicate these features. Spin was my priority followed by control then speed. I started using the bat and for some reason came away dissatisfied, and this feeling persisted through all my subsequent sessions (8). It was not anything drastic, but I didn't enjoy the blade, it never felt entirely comfortable, and my results were mixed. Why was I having a poor relationship with this blade? Firstly, I don't think the rubbers are an issue as I am quite familiar with both of them, and have them on a few blades.I think my problem lies with the blades feeling, vibrations and sweet spot.Although it's supposed to be soft and flexible, I found this blade much harder and with not much flex, almost glassy/sharp feeling.Bouncing the ball on the blade showed that the sweet spot was only average and that contact outside the sweetspot resulted in a dull, low frequency slightly juddering vibrasion, which when playing translated to a loss of power and an unpleasant sensation.Although I know all blades are prone to this instability outside the sweetspot, the zl pro seemed particularly poor.If you did hit the sweetspot the speed was impressive! On a more subjective level, I felt the zylon koto combination did not support much dwell time and subsequently spin generation was not as good as I expected. To me the blade wood(s) and composite felt mismatched and just didn't work well together. Please bear in mind that my blade was a light example, and heavier versions may alleviate or reduce these shortcomings. XVT Black Knight 7
Review of XVT Black Knight 7I bought 2 of these at the incredible price of $14 US dollars each from aliexpress. Was unsure how it would play so glued on a couple of boosted chinese rubbers that I had spare and was pleasantly surprised how good the result was!Blade is light, smooth (very little vibration) and very user friendly despite having great top end speed with very good control.I could execute all strokes with precision but I think this blade is made for the modern offensive game ( loop/ topspin). It performed very well with inexpensive rubbers and could be even better with high end rubbers. This would have to be the best value /performance blade I have ever played and was better than some of my more expensive high end blades. Additional thoughts 23 Nov 2017- This blade is quite springy and has a high energy transfer so I would not recommend bouncy high throw rubbers for it, unless you can adapt and close your blade angle. !7 Sept 2017 Nov 23, 2017
