Butterfly Balsa Carbo X5
Review of Butterfly Balsa Carbo X5I have bought this blade hoping for a light looping blade with control. And i got that at 68 grams. It has very good dwell which helps you a lot on loops. The facts that is flexy helps too. Blocks are good, but you have to do active blocks to get them unconfortable for the oponent. It has several speeds and pushing is nice and stays low. Little vibration, but decent feedback. Unfortunatelly the consistency is crap when pushing, blocking, flipping. Sometimes i get a weird vibration and the ball simply dies on the paddle. This usually happens when you make contact closer to the tip, which is a big minus on flips and pushes. I'm still using the blade only because i haven't found any better. Because of poor consistency i recomend trying other products from butterfly, maybe those are better built. Feb 25, 2016

DHS Hurricane Long 5x
Review of DHS Hurricane Long 5xI had high hopes for this blade because of the above ratings, but man i was wrong. This is certainly not the fastest blade on the planet as the speed is at off- maximum. Yeah, it feels good looping, but it is modest in everything else. Low throw mean smashing goes downward, block is decent but it doesn't feel crisp, flics are slow because the blade is medium in hardness. I own a Timo Boll ZLC too and compared to this the zlc is better in every single aspect... hell, this isn't even the best chinese blade, there are some all woods that i tried and were better... If you're an somewhat experienced player looking for speed, this is not it.Jul 26, 2022

Donic Waldner Allplay

Review of Donic Waldner AllplayBought this for a friend as a first table tennis blade and i have to say I'm impressed. Paired with Donic Liga and Acuda S3 and came out great.Light, great control , good feeling, the attributes of a great all around blade. I'll buy myself one when i'll start using hard rubbers. Friendship/729 Fighter Arylate Carbon
Review of Friendship/729 Fighter Arylate CarbonIncredible control, massive sweet spot, nice touch. Apart from a narrow band near the edges the blade is all sweet spot. At lower-effort-hits it is not fast and you can push really nice with it. At short or medium distance from the table if you put a bit of effort, it really starts to show what it can do. It is perfect for a beginner attacker like me.Update 1: it also blocks really nice, but a bit too heavy. I've put 2 H3Neo on it, i love the touch of the blade with the fastness of the rubbers but now my paddle is as heavy as a rock, and i pay the price every time i wanna brush-loop. Can't say the same with other lighter blades like Galaxy W-6. So this blade goes well only with as much as medium (heavy) rubbers. Update2: i think the blade's speed is All+ or a bit above that. KTL (LKT) Ayous Hinoki
Review of KTL (LKT) Ayous HinokiThis was my first blade. My impression now is that i could have picked a better one, but for the first 2 months of a beginner's journey into table tennis is ok. The pros: Nice soft sweet spot with decent feeling. The cons:1) The big minus is the small sweet spot, smaller than the regular wood blades. Combine it with the beginner's accuracy and it makes shots far more difficult than it should. 2) Slow as hell. After the 2 months you want to do some more aggressive shots. This blade doesn't help. It's more meant for defensive play than attacking. I would say an All- blade. 3) Weird vibrations. You get a lot of weird vibration especially when you don't hit the sweet spot. All in all this is a blade for you if you only play table tennis a couple of times a year. If you intend to get more serious with table tennis, don't buy. There are lots of other better wood classic blades. Apr 26, 2013

KTL (LKT) Loopsonic
Review of KTL (LKT) LoopsonicThe slowest blade i have ever seen.Pro: Light, controllable. Cons: Absolutely no touch at all. It feels like a piece of plastic with a weird vibration. But for the price i don't know why you should expect more. I bought it because i wanted a blade on which to try all my new rubbers and have a comparison without taking apart my playing setup. Although i'm not sure it's good for that anymore. It has a ghizmo inside and a hollow handle. Mine cracked at first usage(the handle). Worst blade ever. May 14, 2013

Yasaka Gatien Extra
Review of Yasaka Gatien ExtraI have recently bought the Yasaka Extra. It's no longer called Gatien and i think it's different from the reviews here. Mine weighs 90 grams, it's off- and is a lot stiffer than expected. When you hit slowly it has a nice soft feeling to it. When you hit harder you can feel the second gear, it's way stiffer and this makes loops a bit more difficult and brush loops even more. It's even stiffer than the chinese copy, the Galaxy W-6. I appreciate the extra speed but i bought it because i wanted an flexy, soft, controllable wood with some bite, as described above. And it doesn't feel like one. It feels like a stiff blade with a soft feel, like many others. Another disadvantage is the low throw. After i swapped the W-6 for the Yasaka extra with the same rubbers , 80% of the balls got caught in the net. Still struggling to adjust to this one and it's an unpleasant surprise. To ayoushinoki : Yes only the one with Yasaka metal tag on the handle end, with JTTAA chop is available in store and it's not a great blade. The Galaxy copy, the W-5 is actually far better. Yasaka Extra
Review of Yasaka ExtraLooking for a Yasaka Gatien Extra and bought this instead. It was an unpleasant surprise. Mine is 95g - pretty heavy, stiff and hard. Even my coach told me it felt like glass and not a good blade. Difficult to loop, pushes are springy, decent fast, no gears. The only thing this blade does good is block. If you want a flexy, looping blade please look elsewhere.Nov 28, 2016

Yinhe W-6

Review of Yinhe W-6An incredible blade but you must pair it with the right rubbers for you. I first followed the indications above and paired it with H3 Neo but it didn't work out for me. Too much vibrations, block was terrible, loop was inconsistent. In my opinion H3neo requires a chinese style of play and a stiff carbon blade. After i changed to tensors i stuck a Donic Acuda S2 on it and man this bat could loop. You can do every loop shot with confidence and incredible precision. Hell, even smashes have lots of topsin. Blocks are incredibly accurate even though is a flexy blade. I can block both near the table and mid-distance(against smashes) and i always feel confident about it. Great blade to use with the new tensors. Update : The minuses are: 1) Not a soft feel, the surface feels a bit hard, but it totally makes up for it with the great control and the extra top spin on loops. I guess you can't really have speed and soft and flexy at the same time. This one is speedy and flexy. 2) The handle is too thin. I have put an overgrip on it and it works great. It still is my main blade and it will be for a long time. Apr 19, 2013

Yinhe N-9
Review of Yinhe N-9I needed a cheap blade to play in the park on Sunday without ruining my main setup. I have put two old xiom vega europe on it and surprise: it plays better than my main setup. Incredible speed , incredible feeling, a bit stiff which means lower margin for error on loops but better blocks and flat hits. The blade has a big sweet spot with decent feeling.Control feels great. I'm still waiting to find a downside after 2 weeks of playing with it. Absolutely fantastic blade. Is better than many other overpriced OFF blades. One year later this is still my blade, new rubbers now. This blade just bites the ball creating good spin and great speed. I was wondering if there are lighter versions out there. Mine has 85gr. Yinhe Mercury Y-15
Review of Yinhe Mercury Y-15I bought this blade from princett for 14 $ and what i can say is that is worth every single penny. I was looking for hard surface blade with some flex and i got a great blade. Yes, surface is hard, but it actually helps getting the lazy plastic ball going on those dead returns. Smashes are great. Flex is springy and it helps a lot to charge up the ball with spin from mid distance on top-spins. Great blade for looping and smashing. Handle a bit thin. I think this is my 2019 blade. I'll update after a month of use.Today i won my first tournament with this blade. Tenergy 05 FH, DHS G8 backhand. I got a great 84 grams blade. Maybe i was lucky. It has 3 gears. Slow for pushes, fast and flexy (with extra spin) for topspin loop and extra hard for active blocks and smashes. At the moment this blade is everything i need and i can handle. Yinhe T-8S

Review of Yinhe T-8SBought it just to give it a try was hoping for a flexy blade, it didn't live up to its rating. Mine is 95g, nice finish, nice look. A standard stiff carbon blade, with some feeling, great for a hard hitter, not so god for spin. Good consistency no weird vibrations, but for the money you could get better blades out there.Dec 16, 2019

Yinhe Mercury Y-16
Review of Yinhe Mercury Y-16After getting a very good Y-15 which suited me perfectly, I thought to give the Y-16 a go. It didn't seem that fast, not faster than the Y-15, doesn't make justice to the 9.3 above speed rating. Mine was 89 grams, flexy indeed but with a weird vibration. The vibration of the blade made it feel like a cheap plastic sheet. Maybe i got a bad one, but it totally ruined play. I sold it cheap. The pink finish wasn't by cup of tea either. Yinhe N-8 S

Review of Yinhe N-8 SGot this blade in order to make some beginner's paddles and sell them. Unfortunately it seems a bit too fast for that. From my point of view speed is closer to off- and not all+ as the above rating, and i got 2 of them, both similar. Nice finish, nice all wood blades. Weight around 88-90 grams, nice feeling no weird vibration, a bit too hard but i guess it's the norm for galaxy blades. Good blades for the money. For all+ blades i thing N-10 is more like it.Dec 16, 2019

Review of Yinhe N11 SVery nice off- cheap blade with flex. Good starting all wood blade with good spin generation. Has a harder surface than most starter blades but works well with tensors. Had a t05 on it and it worked well for me.Harder surface helps with the new lazy plastic ball. Handle a bit thin, had to use a grip on the handle.Jun 01, 2021
