Review of Andro Rasanter R47Been using on my FH, max thickness, for a couple of weeks. First impressions are that this rubber is incredible. going from a warn out Evolution EL-S to a brand new R47, I was amazed at how much spin could be generated with a rubber like this one. Speed is fast, it is sensitive to incoming spin and has a medium-hard feel. For me, this rubber weighed 47g cut. In conclusion, this rubber is an excellent choice. UPDATE: after 7 months this rubber is still very good. After the rubber was broken in, readjusting to the softer feel is necessary and once you get used to the new feel, this rubber is top quality.

Review of Andro Hexer PowergripExactly what you'd expect from a 47.5 degree tensor rubber. Great balance between speed and spin. I never find myself blaming this rubber for missed shots, which makes it a beauty to play with. The tensor effect does not kick in at random times like some tensor rubbers. Compared to the Rasanter series, Hexer is more suited to amateur players whereas Rasanter is tailored towards pros and semi pros. I would recommend this if you're looking for a solid tensor rubber, the Hexer series has got you covered for a range of sponge hardnesses (40-47.5).

Review of Andro Hexer GripExactly what you'd expect from a 45 degree tensor rubber. This rubber (as expected) produces more spin than speed. I would recommend this if you're an amateur / intermediate player looking for a reliable tensor rubber. The Hexer series has got you covered for a range of sponge hardnesses (40-47.5), and is the most reliable rubber series I've used so far, that is perfectly tailored to your average league player. (I've used: Bluefire JP, Evolution, Acuda Blue, Rakza, Vega, Omega VII, Rasanter)

Review of DHS Gold Arc 5The DHS Gold Arc 5 is one of the first German based rubbers by DHS, therefore it is NOT tacky like most DHS rubbers. I put a sheet (black, max, 42.5 degrees) on the BH of the Tibhar Drinkhall All-round Classic, an all-round blade. This rubber is NOT a speed monster like Bluefire M1 or a spin monster like Rakza 7, it is a superb, control, do it all rubber which can execute all types of shots with relative ease. The spin is slightly less than Rakza 7, less spin sensitive, you can generate a good amount of spin on serves. It has a medium hardness, but is also available in 47.5 degrees (medium-hard). My ratings are: Speed = 7.5. Spin = 9. Control = 10. The main attribute to this rubber is control, closely followed by spin, which is why I'd recommend this rubber to anyone looking for an excellent beginners rubber, or to players who's play style has emphasis on control, placement, and variation of spin.

Review of Donic Bluefire JP 01Excellent 47.5 degree rubber. Decided to try out a Donic rubber for the first time and they've thoroughly impressed me. Tried black, MAX, on FH of all-round wood blade, mine had a mass of 47g cut to a pen-hold blade with a slight gap for the index finger and thumb, so it will be slightly heavier for shake hand blades. Compared to Rasanter R47, very similar speed, and with full arm loop kills (Ma Lin style) the ball flies off the bat with tremendous spin. Spin is more than Rakza 7, but maybe slightly less than Tenergy 05, I found it easy to serve spiny. This rubber is nice and grippy, you can really close the bat angle and accelerate through the ball, resulting in a quality shot. I'm not sure how this rubber has a spin rating of 9, whereas Rakza 7 is a 9.3. Using an all round blade made it easy to control on the slower shots (pushes, drives, etc), not sure about harder/faster blades. Overall I'm very impressed, would 100% recommend as an attacking medium-hard forehand rubber.

Review of Friendship/729 Battle IIBlack, 2.0, un-boosted, used on FH of a Stiga All-round Classic. A hard, tacky rubber that produces very good spin. The hardness took some getting used to, in the end I ended up not liking this hardness, for me it was too hard. To my surprise, the speed was very good, especially when weight transfer and timing was on-point. I would recommend Battle 2 if you're looking for a top quality Chinese rubber with great value for money.

Review of Reactor CorborSaw this beginners rubber selling for ~ £2.50 per sheet so as a coach, I had to try it out. This is a slow rubber, it teaches the player to generate power through good technique. This, along with the price, is where the positives end. The spin is slightly above average, making the control pretty good. The grip is fairly good. I've been recommending Friendship 729 Super FX to the beginners that go to my club, and being a £10 rubber, I'd say its noticeable how much better quality Super FX is compared to Corbor. If you are on a very low budget, this rubber is one of the best out there for this price. However Super FX is cheap and high quality, which I cannot say the same for Corbor.

Review of Tibhar Evolution EL-SAn excellent rubber. As a beginner, I used this on my fh, 2.1mm, FX-S on my bh, with the Tibhar Drinkhall All-round Classic blade. This combination helped me improve massively. I feel like this rubber would also be really good for intermediate and advanced players, but am relatively unable to comment on this as I am not one myself. The rubbers are able to impart plenty of spin on the ball when needed, aswel as having many gears. I'd say this rubber is fairly sensitive to incoming spin (an attribute that was aided by a blade which had really nice feeling). Overall, this rubber definitely served it's purpose, allowing me to develop as a player. In terms of durability, this rubber was noticeably much less grippy and spiny after 6 months of playing around 8 hours per week.

Review of Tibhar VolcanoAs a beginner, I used this on my fh, and Tibhar Vari Spin on bh. At the time I thought this rubber was ok, but going back to it I do not like it. Not a good choice for intermediate or advanced players. If you're a beginner, you're better off going for say a MarkV.

Review of Tibhar Vari SpinAs a beginner, I used this on my bh. At the time I didn't have a very good bh and didn't like playing on that side very much, but sometimes I go back to this bat and the rubber is surprisingly good, it still has very good spin and control. Not a fast rubber, but that's a good thing for beginners. Overall I think this would be a pretty good rubber to have on either side of a beginners bat.
UPDATE: after becoming a coaching learning more about beginners equipment, I would not recommend soft rubbers to beginners, I'd recommend tacky, Chinese, Friendship 729 rubbers like Super FX or Geospin Tacky. It's not that this is a bad rubber, just I wouldn't recommend soft rubbers to any type of player.

Xiom Vega Japan
|
Review of Xiom Vega JapanPerfect 45 degree tensor rubber. Not too bouncy. I disagree with kurokami, for me, this rubber was more spin oriented than the VP, and the VP was much faster, using both of them on the same blade. I agree that it has a softer, more elastic topsheet, which gives it more spin on the slow shots (pushes, short game). The top end speed and spin of the VJ is lower than the VP, so for intermediate / advanced players, the VP will be a better FH rubber. Conclusion: for amateur / intermediate players, this is a perfect 45 degree BH rubber with plenty of control and spin, with enough speed to finish the point using good technique.

Xiom Omega VII Euro
|
Review of Xiom Omega VII EuroI absolutely love this rubber. It is the best medium hardness rubber on the market. I currently use this on the BH of a Stiga Clipper, and hope to keep it there for a long time. For drives and pushes, it is lovely and controlled, producing good spin. For harder shots such as loops and smashes, it has an extra gear that has noticeably higher speed to finish the point. Advanced players usually prefer something harder, but for us amateurs and local league players, this is truly a gem.

Review of Yasaka Rakza 7Fantastic rubber with brilliant spin capability, and more than enough speed. Used on BH of Stiga All-round Classic, red, middle thickness and its been brilliant, my BH is so much more stable thanks to this rubber, BH drives, flicks, loops, pushes all feel amazing. I've been using for 11 months, and the grip feels almost no different to how it felt brand new. Would highly recommend for either FH or BH.
UPDATE: after experimenting with a Chinese rubber on the FH (729 Battle 2) I decided there wasn't enough dwell time due to it being super hard, so I put Rakza 7 on both sides of my Stiga All-round-Classic, and boy was it a good decision, execution of drives, loops, counter loops, pushes, flicks feel incredible, the serve needs some getting used to coming from a tacky rubber. This combination feels perfect for my style of play - close to the table attack. Confirmed my belief that Rakza 7 is a top quality rubber for either FH or BH. Will definitely be buying this rubber again.
