999 Super 999T
Review of 999 Super 999TBoosted with 2 layers Falco long on a Palio Cat blade. I think the ratings here are accurate from my observations, so will add a few things not mentioned by other reviewers that may affect your decision with regards to using this rubber.Due to the extreme tack, you must be proficient at reading, counteracting and/or overcoming opponents spin that this rubber can generate. Any passive stroke against heavy spin will result in disaster (well, loss of point anyway). The good news is I found the tack excellent for creating my own spin.Flicks (against backspin) and counters (against topspin) were remarkably easy, and some of my brush loops with heavy spin and a very tight arc completely fooled my opposition. So this rubber is spin oriented, and for close to the table players like me who don't have time/space for a big stroke, this rubber excels at creating great spin on thin contact shots.May also be good further from table but can't comment as I don't spend much time there. So if you are enamoured with tacky Chinese rubbers this is an excellent choice, high performance with a minimal price tag ($5 US/sheet). Edit 28 Dec 2017 - Have tried this rubber mid distance, sponge copes very well with a bigger stroke, topsheet retains same great spin. Dec 28, 2017

Butterfly Rozena
Review of Butterfly RozenaTried this rubber as both a B/H and F/H on my Pingmaster s/l carbon which had Omega V euro both sides.Changed red omega to the rozena and played for about 2.5 hrs, twiddling the bat occasionally. Although the Roz is a good rubber and many people would like it (would compliment many playing styles) , it could not match the OVE in either speed or spin with the control being almost equal. The Xiom had a bit more grip, was slightly less bouncy for pushes and service returns, and had a slight edge when it came to offensive play, the Roz being superior when I was forced to play passively or defend a loopdrive/ smash onslaught. So all in all the Rozena is a very solid rubber which can be used for both F/H and B/H, and may help you reduce some of those niggly WTF moments you have with some of the more top end tensors. Personally I have tended to opt for the slower more controlled blade option in coping with those uncooperative sheets as I am addicted to spin. Although cheaper than tenergy, Roz is still very expensive, especially when you can find a lot of higher spec't current or slightly older tensors for $25-35 US dollars .Cheapest I've seen this is $44.95. DHS Gold Arc 8
Review of DHS Gold Arc 847.5 degree sponge, med thickness, tested on Treiber K.I see this rubber's ratings have dropped slightly from the heady days when it first appeared on the database. Funny how new equipment seems to garner extraordinary hype and ratings in the initial reviews. However this rubber deserves it's very high ranking as it's one of the best I have tried. Opted for the softer, thinner version as I felt 50 degree max would be too hard/fast and that I would probably not utilize It's potential anyway. 47.5 seems perfect, the supple top sheet makes the rubber feel softer than it is, and with a high level of grip, spin based strokes have great rotation.Control is excellent , with a very linear power curve that is easy to unleash. In combination with the Treiber K, I had speed, control and consistency that fit well with my abilities. I am an older player (60), but if you are an advanced, fast, powerful player (read younger perhaps) then the harder/thicker version of this rubber might suit your game even better. I thoroughly recommend this rubber as it has that great synthesis between sponge and topsheet and is Only $30US per sheet. Oct 01, 2017

DHS Gold Arc 5

Review of DHS Gold Arc 5I have this rubber on both sides of a Palio King Yue blade, medium thickness 42.5 degree sponge.I was keen to try this rubber after having tested Gold Arc 8( med 47.5), which I thought was excellent. I considered getting the GA5 47.5 but decided on the softer version as I thought they might be too similar and that it may well suit harder or less controllable blades.Although not a tensor, this rubber has superb spin and control with above average speed. The topsheet is just as grippy as GA8, the sponge firm enough to transmit some vibration to the blade, so the combination feels good and performs very well. Of course it does't have the speed, kick/catapult of a harder tensor, but that is not it's function,it's more of a spin elastic control rubber. So if you want a softer, non tensor rubber with high performance, then this is a very good choice. Donic Bluestorm Pro AM
Review of Donic Bluestorm Pro AMI have this rubber in max on both sides of an Xiom HAL blade.I can see why this rubber has been #1 on the database for quite awhile now- it is excellent in all facets of the game. 47.5* sponge is a very versatile hardness, and I find it equally good for both F/H and B/H. Strikes an almost perfect balance between speed/spin/control.Not too bouncy with moderate catapult and the amount of gears really stands out. Not tacky but grip is top class-it is not too spin sensitive but seems to overcome opponents spin easily, especially flicks against backspin.Very expensive if you don't buy it on sale, but definitely worth your money.Donic Bluestorm Pro is a slightly harder 50* variant ,which is on my wishlist as well. Some additional thoughts- Probably the best rubber i have used for lifting backspin serves/backspin pushes to topspin winners. Also fantastic for counters. I didn't have any issues that qvoliszz experienced- my sheets were both dry, flat and did not smell of booster. Jan 07, 2026

Gewo Nexxus EL Pro 48 Superselect
Review of Gewo Nexxus EL Pro 48 SuperselectOne of my favorite rubbers atm.Fast, spinny, grippy.Have it on one side of my Donic Xtreme and both sides of a Btfy innerforce ZLC. Not sure if it's tensioned, but throw angle is not too high, and with minimal catapult I am not hitting balls off the table when adding power. Can be used for forehand or backhand depending on your skill level and preference. Is available in hardnesses 45,48,50,53, so something for almost everyone.Seems durable-haven"t noticed any degradation in appearance or performance. This rubber seems to compliment my intermediate level style of spin offensive play, and I'm impressed enough that I will be purchasing more of these (and perhaps a 45and 50 as well)! Giant Dragon Superveloce V12 FX
Review of Giant Dragon Superveloce V12 FXUnfortunately I had a very poor experience with this rubber.I ordered a pingmaster sl carbon blade (thinner T11+) and got a pair of V12fx glued to the blade after seeing a couple of positive reviews on the database. The rubber appeared and felt like it had a very high proportion of plastic in it's manufacture but seemed quite grippy. I proceeded to use the new blade and rubbers and was very satisfied for the first 15 minutes. rubber had very good spin/speed/control,but i soon noticed that my flicks and topspins were going to net. Upon inspection there was patches of moisture on the rubbers which reappeared even after wiping. Obviously these rubbers were affected by humidity (midsummer in New Zealand) so I decided to shelve this setup and wait for dryer conditions.2 months later I tried again only to find the ball was again slipping on the rubber! This time the rubbers had a layer of dust even though they were clean when I started. I recleaned using spinmax but the dust problem reoccurred after about 10 minutes. I can only surmmise that due to the plastic nature of the topsheet, it either attracts moisture in humid conditions, or builds up a slight static charge resulting from friction with the ball in drier conditions, and attracts dust. Not wanting to completely waste $56nzd I removed them to use on a premade, but they curled so badly there was no way to reglue. Refusing to give up I boosted them which flattened them out (reverse dome) but the topsheet and sponge separated in several places making them useless. I am an experienced player and have tried lots of equipment but have never had this happen before. I did not rate this rubber due to my short and frustrating time trying to use it. But the good news was the pingmaster sl carbon was very good! 12 June 2017 Jun 12, 2017

Huieson Hurricane Storm
Review of Huieson Hurricane StormGreetings- I think this is the best ''budget'' rubber, and deserves a higher rating, especially in the spin category.I usethis rubber on a few of my inexpensive and unknown blades, and the experiences have been generally positive. Topsheet and sponge seem well matched, with good elasticity , so it doesn't feel too hard or dead for a Chinese rubber. Slightly tacky with good grip, it is a good mixture of the two. I have been using this on a 5 ply wood blade for serve practice, and am impressed by how much spin it produced. Lasts well and I think it would be a great training rubber, or even in match play for amateurs and lower level club players. Inexpensive but not cheap, I prefer it to others like Mercury 2, Reactor Tornado V5, 729 Geospin and a few others I have tried.Sorry, didn't weigh it or try it boosted. KTL (LKT) Red Diamond (Golden Cake Sponge)
Review of KTL (LKT) Red Diamond (Golden Cake Sponge)Got a sheet of this very cheap and tried it (boosted) on a fast 5+2 carbon blade. Very good performance, nice elastic topsheet, but when I went to remove it to try on another blade the sponge tore into about 100 pieces!Upon inspection the sponge looked and felt really dry and brittle with almost no rubber content, kind of like the foam used to make those long "noodles" that you use in the pool and can hit people with. So although I liked the rubber initially,it is a one use one blade only product. (Attached using wbg, one layer sponge, one layer blade) Jan 01, 2018

Sanwei AU Golden
Review of Sanwei AU GoldenGreetings- bought a couple of these (green sponge version) and glued them on a 92 gm sword vsea. Didn't reallyknow what to expect as there are few reviews ( which vary considerably),and there seems to be 3 different sponges used (green, yellow and white), and Sanwei give no info as to any differences between them. You would assume that except for the colour, all versions would be the same, but from the close up pictures there seems to be a wide variation in the size of the pores, and even the topsheets look different (red and black look slightly frosted and the blue and pink are shiny). So, your options are, red and black topsheets with either green or yellow sponge, or pink and blue topsheets with white sponge.Apparantly all are same thickness and hardness. My red and black with green sponge versions are virtually without pores, feel soft but firm and there is some, but minimal tack, good grip.On the Vsea the rubber felt linear with nice spin, but what was surprising was the lower throw that was very consistent throughout the power range. The ball grab at high swing speed was impressive without much catapult, and I had a more than usual number of fast, low, spinney loop drives of high quality. I'm sure the Vsea was a substantial part of the mix as well.So my initial thoughts are ; this is a soft spinney control rubber with the ability to handle power well, but probably needs a fast blade to realize it's potential. Lower throw ,linear, inexpensive. Update 11 Oct 2026- now have a blue topsheet version- seems same performance . I think this rubber is under rated in both speed and spin, and the blue/pink ratings are more accurate. One of those rubbers where the more you push it,the better it performs. TSP Ventus Spin
Review of TSP Ventus SpinBlade-Joola Air Fibre, Rubbers-TSP Ventus Spin 1.8 (both sides). My vision for this setup was to have a very light, highly manoeverable bat with great spin potential in the all+/off- speed category, which I feel was acheived with this blade and rubbers. I choose these rubbers mainly because of their light weight/spin ratio although they were softer than I prefer and I normally use 2,0mm or max sponge.Th VS has huge grip on the ball so any kind of spin seems easy, but like all high grip, high spin, tensioned, soft sponged rubbers this can be both blessing and curse. The lively sponge (easily engaged), and the grippy, supple topsheet interaction made blade angle more critical, and I often "lifted" the ball too much on offensive topspin strokes (especially backhand), as if there was too much dwell (can there be such a thing?)Long pushes were also more difficult and I sent too many off the end of the table.Passive and weak defensive strokes against spin resulted in balls shooting off at all angles (not in a good way).Continued below; So studiously ignoring my inadequacies in technique, I have come to these conclusions. The VS is more spin sensitive than most modern tensors and at times can feel a bit "twitchy" and unpredictable, however it is definitely worth persevering with.In generating spin it is equal to or better than anything I've tried so far (reminds me of a softer fastarc G1). Throw is very high so close your blade angle when topspinning, countering or blocking. Could be better on harder or blades with less dwell time.Have only tried it on the air fibre which feels medium flex and hardness. So all in all this is an excellent rubber, just not quite as easy to tame as I'd imagined> Mar 03, 2018

Victas VJ > 07 Stiff
Review of Victas VJ > 07 StiffBlade-TSP Swat carbon with VJ-07 stiff and Regalus Blue (both max). Bought the Victas VJ-07 stiff on the strengthof a few good reviews, especially Konjecture's (thanks Zane), in which he thought that it would suit a player who played "close, spinny and aggressive", which is how I like to play. I decided to put softer rubbers on the blade as it has heat treated (burned) limba outer plies, and is a bit harder than untreated limba. I have to agree with most of Konjecture's observations, except I think the rubber is also really good for receiving, due to the spin insensitivity, soft sponge, and the excellent grip the topsheet has. This rubber allows me to flick or push heavy backspin serves. which for me are the benchmarks of a good receiving rubber. As a close to table player I tend to take the ball early, and the rubber compliments quick and/or wristy mini loop/loop drives/counters.Don't think this rubber would be that good at distance or for topspin to topspin rallies. Feels softer than the stated 45* hardness, I would put it in the same category with Vega Europe, Grip/Powergrip SFX, FX-P, Rakza 7 soft, (etc), but I think the VJ-07 is one of the best softer rubbers I have tried. Not too expensive either! Jan 07, 2026
