Giant Dragon Submarine
Review of Giant Dragon SubmarineAs a defender, I play with 0x pimpled rubber on bakhand (Curl P1R) on a defensive balde, now with 1,8mm black Submarine.Orange sponge, about 40°. Sponge + topsheet are around 40-41°. This rubber really shines at chopping, as said many times, but it is important to say it again! I NEVER HAD SUCH PLEASURE TO CHOP WITH INVERTED. Tackiness is just insane and durable, providing heavy backspin chops. During defensive shots (pushes, blocks and chops) : speed is low, Control is unbelievable, chop-sponge has a dampening effect. During offensive strokes : speed is medium to high, depending on engagement. Sponge does not feel dampening any more. So that you can counter, hit or take a first-strike topspin with ease, since I noticed many gears like some other rubbers (Yanus DF, Jupiter...) A chinese defensive rubber, very cheap but highly recommanded for "tactician" defenders with a startegy based on chops and sudden attacks... In a word : AWESOME May 24, 2013

Nittaku Fastarc G-1
Review of Nittaku Fastarc G-1I gave up with H3 Neo, too many troubles with this mess of different versions factory tuned/not factory tuned... The quest to find a powerfull but controlled backside to suit my playstyle has ended with G1. As a modern defender, I need lots of grip, many gears, no awefull catapult effect (to perform safe chops and pushes) and a pretty high amount of power for topspins. All of this has been found with Fastarc G1 (and Evolution MX-S wich is the exact same rubber, by the way^^)Feeling is super nice : hard sponge but very elastic touch, hughe grip on this terrible P-ball, lovely crispy-feeling on powerfull shots. I immediatly felt good and safe with this rubber! Aug 30, 2021

Nittaku Best Anti (Anti-spin)
Review of Nittaku Best Anti (Anti-spin)One of the best antispin ever. Best Anti is well known because of excellent properties and feeling :- White spinge is soft and dampening - Very slow. Controling the ball is so easy, even spinny loops or powerfull strokes. - Topsheet is untacky and dead but you can generate some spin on your own if you are well trained. Best Anti reallyr eally shine at : - defensive game (chopping is more consistant than other antis and so easy to do!) - returning serves. Believ me, it is always very hard to attcack a "BA return" : returning short is awesome, even when you return a long ball, it is a "no-bounce" one - blocks : OMG. Chop-blocks, passive blocks... All are good. Perfect for defensive palyers. Jun 28, 2013

Stiga DNA Pro H
Review of Stiga DNA Pro HDNA Pro H 2,1mm black. As a Cutman, It is pretty hard to find a suitable rubber for forehand. I finally ended up with DNA Pro H, for a pretty long time now and I am very happy with it! This is a powerfull ESN tensor with a 50° hard sponge. But the feeling is awesome : not too hard and finally very balanced. Close to the table game is great, since DNA Pro H has many gears, plenty of control and a hughe grip. I litterlay feel the ball on the racket while pushing. Chops need a few adjustments because of the overall power of the rubber, but once adjusted it is pleasant, consistant and effective due to the grip and control. Opening topspin is a dream, it catches the ball like hell. You can ignite the turbo very easily (I had to be carefull at the beginning not igniting too soon, while chopping for example). Then, unleashing the power is crazy good with DNA and mid to far distance game is very satisfaying, with a crispy feeling. Conclusions : A very spinny and powerfull rubber with many gears and a unique touch. I really love it.Jun 17, 2023

Tibhar Grip-S Europe
Review of Tibhar Grip-S EuropeAn hybrid rubber, cumulating euro/jap and chinese properties.1- Euro/Jap genom : speed (8,5/10), "punchy" Red Sponge, amazing grip, high throw 2- Chinese properties adjunction : slightly tacky topsheet, permanent control (>> average control of same generation tensors), some gears, sound (light broken-ball sound), hard and compact pre-tuned sponge. I use 1,8 mm black version. Sponge is around 44°, topsheet is more 42°. This rubber always reacts the same, wich is very comfortable. Grip-S Europe really shines at mid-distance tospins, considering it is very efficient close to the table too (pushes/first topspin) Amazing control compared to ESN tensors, but speed has not been sacrified at all. A very complete OFF rubber, that does everything very well, even chopping and blocking. Provides safe feeling to its user. Great! Jun 19, 2013

Victas VS > 401
Review of Victas VS > 401VS401 black 2mm on forehand. Pros : super spinny rubber, a beast at chopping, a lot of power when needed, many gears, ultra high durability / Cons : very heavy. Probably my favorite rubber of all times (with V20 Double Extra)... VS401 fits the Matsushita Special blade like a dream. "Spin oriented high energy tension rubber for agressive chopper". Nothing to add, probably the most accurate description you can get about it...Dec 21, 2023

Victas V > 20 Double Extra
Review of Victas V > 20 Double ExtraV>20 DE Black 2mm. Test for modern defense : hughe stepup compared to V>15 Extra! More control, more spin, more gears, with less catapult and just a tiny less top end speed. V>20 is not a super fast rubber, although it is not slow at all. Dynamism and speed are cleverly dosed to achieve one of the most balanced rubber on the market. Sponge is 52.5 degrees but topsheet is smooth, giving an overall feeling softer than 52.5. Still harder than V>15, wich is a good thing to me. Chopping is great and very stable, pushing is awesome (super spinny!). Opening topspin, percussion, everything is very satisfaying. A super stable rubber with many gears and a super grippy topsheet. My favorite from Victas to date.Jun 29, 2023

Victas V > 15 Sticky
Review of Victas V > 15 StickyFast review of Black V>15 Sticky 2mm on forehand, defensive syle with frequent forehand chops, LP on backand. My favorite rubber so far is V>20 Double Extra (and VS>401 but it is not comparable). I gladly tested V>15 Sticky since it pretends to share some properties with my beloved and V20 DE : many gears, high grip, dosed catapult effect with great control, enough power to play far away from table (wich 401 lacks a bit)And it is all true ! When you activate the sponge deeply, the power is similar to V>20, meaning very good. The activation treshold is just a bit lower than V>20 and much lower than 401(wich is very unique). Top end speed is almost equal = more than enough to me. The feeling of catching the ball strongly - both underspin and topspin, is even greater with V15 Sticky. Chopping with V15-S is very stable, you can generate heavy underpsin with weird, uncomfortable bounces for opponent. As a conclusion, V15-S is super friendly, very easy to play. The grip stepup compared to V>20 made me switch to it after 1 month of testing. A great rubber ! Jul 02, 2026

Xiom Vega Def
Review of Xiom Vega DefVega DEF black 2mm. Uncut : 71g, heavy but in the average of modern rubbers, less heavy than Victas VS>401 or MX-P! I will continue to compare Vega DEF to Vicats VS>401 since those two rubbers share the same DNA! Super hard sponge, super grippy topsheet, many gears etc. The topsheet presents one of the highest traction on the market for a non-tacky rubber (same as 401, according to Anatomic Edge channel on youtube ). I can confirm that it grips the ball like HELL! In terms of hardness, VDEF feels more elastic despite of its hard sponge and overall it feels less hard than 401.I prefer by far Xiom Vega DEF over VS>401 because VDEF is just a more powerfull and easy to play rubber. VDEF does not have this inert feeling of 401. However, you can chain chops with VDEF almost as easily as the 401, you need to adjust a little at the beginning but nothing too difficult. It is way easier to me to counter loop, fish and topspin. It is a sort of unique rubber with a direct feeling (hard, but not that hard actually). I guess they called it DEF because it allows defensive shots more than any other recent tensor rubbers, but VDEF remains a tensor with a lovely dynamism and many gears. It reminds me of a perfectly tuned H3 Neo , without this typical chinese stickiness. Update : Vega DEF is definitely a beast at choping, the underspin and the ease you get from it are awesone! It's almost curious that this rubber allows so consitant and easy chops without sacrifying offensive possibilties... Its dynamism is very cleverly dosed. Is it The Holy Grail ?! Yasaka Mark V

Review of Yasaka Mark VThe true allround inverted rubber, even in 2014.More efficient than VariSpin in offensive play, just as efficient in short game and defensive shots. Awesome. Apr 28, 2014

Yasaka Shining Dragon
Review of Yasaka Shining DragonA chinese topsheet with a japanese sponge. Well...interseting! Fisrt of all, the quality is top notch ; simply "a normal thing" considering the price : nearly 50 EUR!This Shining Dragon will suit perfectly any player in research of extrem rotation with high control. Serves, pushes, topspins are really spinny! No catapult effect, unlike ESN tensors (and unlike Rising Dragon), so you need to engage a few if you want some power. This reminds of chinese rubbers, but with the help of the japanese sponge no need to engage too much^^ And no need to use booster! This rubber is a beast at topspinning, whatever the distance to the table. However, like chinese rubbers, the control in short game and defensive strokes is excellent : YSD has many gears. Chops are awesome : quite easy and heavy backspin. Conclusion : not an ESN tensor, but a sort of hybrid betwin chinese and japanese rubbers. Very secure, very spinny with a medium-high throw angle and many gears. Personnaly, I use 2mm YSD on my forehand, as a modern defender ; I use to chop both sides and to attack with my forhand when needed. It fits my game perfectly! Nov 26, 2017

Yasaka Mark V HPS
Review of Yasaka Mark V HPSThe HPS version of Mark V is Awesome! Topsheet has more grip compared to regular Mark V, and sponge is more dynamic, without any bouncy feeling though. I am not sure about that but this is a non-tensor rubber. Hardness is medium-hard for sponge but the topsheet is highly elastic and provides a softer global feeling.A very well balanced rubber : pretty good speed, excellent spin, tremendous feeling and control. Defensive strokes (chops) are very efficient and pleasant to do. Even in 2018, even with the plastic ball, Mark V HPS can fit most of the players in search of controlled but powerfull playstyle. Yinhe Jupiter II
Review of Yinhe Jupiter IIJupiter 2 - Black, H38 "National Team" +/- 2mmA very interesting Chinese rubber : hughe control, strong grip, more than decent power (factory tuned). The topsheet is less tacky than most other Chinese rubbers, but you can still liftup a ball from the table since it will stick on the racket. The ball will not stay 5 or 6 seconds like it would with H3 Neo or Moon Pro but it will stick 1 or 2 seconds. It's heavy, heavier than Monn Pro without any doubt... Playing with it :I found it pretty similar to Moon Pro. Super high control close to the table, super high grip on serves, pushes and chops, very heavy topspins. Maybe just a tiny bit less than H3 NEO and Moon Pro wich are my favorites FH rubbers, not even sure about that... I think that Jupiter 2 has the most comfortable feeling : H38 sponge is truely softer than H3 and Moon Pro's sponges, it is so pleasant to have a hard chinese rubber and also feel the ball gripping deep in the sponge. Overall, the rubber is hard but with a much softer feeling than most other chinese rubbers. Dunno for the moement if I will keep playing with Jupiter 2 or stay with Moon Pro, but no doubt I had many fun with it since day 1! Apr 27, 2022
