Butterfly Sriver
Review of Butterfly SriverI feel that this rubber is better for countering when unglued/ untuned. A very linear rubber, the amount of speed and spin is proportional to how much you put in. Sponge is medium; low 40's high 30's. Topsheet is non-tacky and has a medium hardness You can loop with it but it takes more effort than say a sheet of Mark V. I've had a sheet on my backhand since January and it still looks good.Mar 12, 2009

Butterfly Sriver G2 FX
Review of Butterfly Sriver G2 FXIf you're looking for a rubber that's a step above normal rubbers but a step below tensors this is a good rubber to use. It plays like Sriver but has more oomph. Loops well, counters well, smashes well. Basically like a tensor minus a little speed, and with better touch. Highly recommend this rubber if you want a step up from regular rubbers and a rubber that's controlable.Mar 12, 2009

Butterfly Solcion
Review of Butterfly SolcionSolcion is a very linear rubber; you get what you put into it. Makes a nice click when looping. Good rubber for looping and blocking. Not so good for smashing. Sponge is soft and absorbs the ball and gives you lots of dwell time. Topsheet is soft too. Short game is good. Prefer this rubber on the FH.Mar 12, 2009

Butterfly Rozena

Review of Butterfly RozenaI have been using this rubber for the past 9 months (03/2020-12/2020) and have found that this is an excellent rubber to learn and develop mechanics, ball feel, and control. This rubber is relatively linear and will give what you put into it. This rubber is also very stable and forgiving as it has good dwell allowing you to feel and manipulate the ball and is not as affected by incoming spin.Dec 12, 2020

Dawei Inspirit Quattro
Review of Dawei Inspirit QuattroI use this rubber for my backhand. It pushes well, counters well, loops well. I don't speed glue but this rubber is fast. I hear it's a monster when it's glued up. Has a light tack that wears away after a few sessions. Has a dense springy sponge.Dec 12, 2020

Dawei Inspirit Quattro Ultralight SV 35
Review of Dawei Inspirit Quattro Ultralight SV 35A very good looping rubber. Because of the softness of the sponge the ball can really sink in and the topsheet can really wrap around the ball. Very spinney rubber. I say so more than Almana Sound; not as fast, but spinnier. It also makes a very nice click when looping. Compared to some of the other soft rubber's I've tried (Butterfly Solcion, Yasaka Mark V GPS) I like this better.Nov 14, 2009

DHS Hurricane 2 (H2)
Review of DHS Hurricane 2 (H2)Hurricanes and several of DHS's prodicts have quality control issues. However when you do get a good sheet of commercial H2 or a provincial version it plays very well. Has an extremely tacky topsheet that aids in a good service and short game. Is actually quite fast if you have a drive style stroke.Jan 07, 2011

DHS NEO Hurricane 2
Review of DHS NEO Hurricane 2recently put a sheet of Hurricane II NEO Black 2.2 40 degrees on my Avalox P700 and initially I was not impressed (switched from euro rubbers). It had a grippy/tacky topsheet (could not pick up the ball and hold it for >1s, like 729 SP), but it was still very spinny. When I first hit with it nothing "stood out." It wasn't amazingly fast, or incredibly spinny, it just felt hard; serves had more spin than euro rubbers, but I could not feel my pushes. After two more sessions the sponge softened up a little, and the speed and spin really started to kick in. Loops were fast, low, and spinny; the ball would really kick once it landed on the table and I could really feel the topsheet grab the ball and sling it back out. The topsheet has also maintained its grippy/tackeyness. Serves are still spinny, still can't feel my pushes, flips are good and countering is good. When blocking Chinese rubbers seem to suck the spin off a ball and return it dead (tackiness is taking spin off?). So far the rubber's performance is increasing. I just need to "break it in" and to readjust my stroke and feeling since I am used to tensors and spring sponges being ready out of the package. Jan 07, 2011

Review of Friendship/729 SP TranscendVery tacky topsheet for service and short game. Sponge is hard but not as hard as commercial hurricane. Looping is best done with a chinese style stroke. Made for an offensive game.Mar 24, 2008

Nittaku Hurricane Pro III Turbo Blue
Review of Nittaku Hurricane Pro III Turbo BlueNittaku Hurricane Pro 3 Blue sponge is a very high quality rubber that features spin and many gears typical of a Chinese rubber. This rubber is very hard and needs to be boosted with 3-4 thin layers before the elasticity of the sponge comes out - otherwise it feels like hitting with glass. This rubber is also extremely heavy. There was a 13 gram difference between H3 2.15mm Neo Provincial 39 degrees and NH3TB 2.0mm cut to a DHS HL3. This rubber is great for serve receive and looping and generates a tremendous amount of spin - more than Tenergy. This rubber has a very pronounced kick off the table when looping and generates a trajectory this is difficult to play against. This rubber requires full commitment to the shot. Due to it's hardness it is very unforgiving and it will immediately let you know you did something wrong. Given the hardness this rubber it provides a lot of power but will only give you that power if you generate it. This rubber will do what you tell it to do as long as you do it right and it will reward you with shots that are very difficult for opponents to deal with.Jun 17, 2021

Palio Blitz

Review of Palio BlitzUSATT Rating: 1801Total Set-up weight: 184g Blade: Avalox P700 ST (93g) FH: Palio Blitz Black MAX (~45.5g cut) FH: Palio Blitz Red MAX (~45.5g cut) Glue: Butterfly Free Chack Palio Blitz Physical Properties The sponge is white and porous (Tenergy like). The sponge does not feel as hard as the listed 47.5 degrees (unlike JOOLA X-plode, which feels like its advertised 50 degrees). The black sheet has a nice shine to it, while the red sheet is transparent to where you can see the pips. Compared to JOOLA X-plode, the pips are larger and spaced further apart. The topsheet is completely non-tacky; the plastic protection sheets (non-adhesive type) I have do not stick to them. The rubbers have the nice Chinese character for electricity (dian/pronounced dyen) right next to the brand name :) Uncut Sheet weight: 65g Cut Sheet weight: 45.5g Sheet dimensions: 16.9cm x 16.9cm Sponge Thickness: MAX Sponge density: 0.2276g/cm^2 Throw: Medium Low Loop/Counter Palio Blitz is a fast rubber. This rubber makes a nice click sound when it's hit right. Several of my club-mates have described this rubber as having a more "natural feel" when looping. By this I think they mean that they can feel the ball. Lots of tensors/ spring sponges have a tendency to mute the feeling of the ball. Blitz will not mute the feeling. When reading about this rubber's spin capabilities , some people have claimed that this rubber is as spiny as Barracuda, which is supposedly a spiny as Tenergy. I found that this rubber is not spectacular when it comes to spin. This rubber still has good spin, but it does not give you more spin than you put into your stroke - at least not like Tenergy or Barracuda. This rubber does however give you more speed than you put in your stroke. When countering balls stay low and have a flat trajectory, when looping, balls have a low arc and are fast. Service Blitz keeps balls low and has good spin when serving. Push Blitz is a bouncy on short touch shots. On long pushes this rubber is not as forgiving; if your paddle angle is not correct pushes tend to go off the edge of the table. ------------- 07/04/10 After Hitting with it more today I have gotten more used to the throw angle. Long pushes are now very low, flat, and fast. For short pushes as long as you keep the ball on the topsheet and not let it sink into the sponge, balls can be placed very short. ------------- -Flip Block Since this rubber is fast and has a medium hard sponge, there is not a lot of dwell time. This is good for blocking. This rubber is not spin sensitive- Ball goes in, ball goes out; the ball does not sink and stay in the rubber allowing your opponent's spin to take full effect. EDIT 04/23/11 After roughly 75 hours of practice and drilling I managed to bubble the topsheet on my FH. I'm disappointed that the Blitz gave out so soon, but it could be a manufacturing problem, but coming from ESN I doubt that. Jeff(ATTC) Apr 24, 2011

Stiga Boost TC
Review of Stiga Boost TCVery spinney rubber. Feels like a regular unglued rubber except faster and spinier. Is very grippy and get gripper when you clean it. If your rubber hit the table it will tear. Not the best rubber for away from the table looping but doable. Good for blocking, countering, and looping near the table. Is not bouncy like the tensors so it is easier to dump short balls off pushes. Looping backspin isn't bad do to the very gripy topsheet. Out of all the glue effect rubbers I consider the Boost Series of rubbers to be the grippiest. Boost borders the fine line between tacky and grippy. Will feel mushy on an ALC blade. I recommend it for hard blades. I use it on a Clipper CR WRB and it feels very good and it listens to what I make it do. Jun 07, 2009

Stiga Boost TP
Review of Stiga Boost TPBoost TP is the harder version of Boost TC. Same topsheets, different sponges. TP is very grippy almost tacky.Serving is better than TC due to the harder sponge. Blocks and smashes are fast. Loops are good from away from the table, you just need a big stoke. This rubber feels better on an ALC blade compared to TC. This rubber needs to be broken in before it gets to it's true potential. At first TP is very hard, but after a few sessions the sponges softens up and becomes a little more springy. Tibhar Nimbus
Review of Tibhar NimbusA very fast looping rubber. It feels like only half the effort is needed to get the same speed with a regular rubber. Sponge is advertised as 45 degrees but feels considerable softer when looping. Short game however suffers. Basically any shot that requires a lot of dwell time suffers. The ball sinks into the sponge and then is immediately ejected. If not timed correctly short touch shots will pop up. Is faster than Tenergy 05, not as spinny as Tenergy 05, but still spinny. This rubber wears out very quickly. I had it for about 1.5 months and afterwards the glue effect wore off. No more click, less spin, less speed. This rubber is great during the first month, but wears out too quicklyMay 22, 2009

Xiom Vega Pro
Review of Xiom Vega ProServeThe natural rubber topsheet is very grippy and allows for serves to be low. The harder sponge allows the topsheet to do more of the work. Nice spinney serves. Push This rubber is good for pushing. When I'm going for the long flat and fast pushes, they land and they do so with speed and spin. Block Blocking with this rubber is better than Vega Euro. The harder sponge on Pro has more kick than Euro to send the ball over. Loop When looping Vega Pro produces loops with a lower throw than Vega Euro; it almost looks like the arch of my H3 Neo. Loops go deep onto the table and have good pace. When looping against backspin I can really load the ball up since the nice grippy topsheet can grab the ball, and the firm sponge will pop it back out. Jul 16, 2011
