DHS Hurricane 2 (No. 19 Sponge)
Review of DHS Hurricane 2 (No. 19 Sponge)I found the H3 Neo to be too stiff and hard for my forehand, especially for brush loop, flicks or any other hits that require touch. This one is the solution, a lot softer in comparison, a bit higher throw but tack is very nice, i think same top-sheet as neo. The sponge feels softer and more european, but a lot more controllable. The only thing i miss is the low arc of the H3 Neo's top spin. But this rubber has exactly the same great speed of Hurricane 3 Neo, and at high speed the loud splash sound indicates you just hit a higher speed level. Great rubber. Update: the throw is actually lower than the h3 neo making it a vey nice medium rubber. Update: i don't think it is as good as the new tensors. I just think it's the best non-tensor forehand sponge for recreational player. If you want to upgrade your game though, try a tensor. Apr 19, 2013

DHS NEO Hurricane 3
Review of DHS NEO Hurricane 3This rubber is pretty cheap and it's tempting to buy it and try it out when you're at the beginning. if you're in this position, you're about to make the biggest mistake a beginner can make. These chinese (most of the DHS) rubbers are fast , heavy, hard, tacky and very difficult to control for a beginner. For over the table game this one is ok, but as soon as you want to loop it will punish you if you don't have the strength and the perfect stroke. It will make things very difficult because t is heavy , almost no touch because of the hardness. Blocks go downwards and end up into the net and the tackiness will make it very spin-sensitive. All of these make everything very confusing for a beginner, even for an intermediate. I dare say , if you haven't been playing for more than 5 years, these rubbers are not for you. I have lost almost 4 months trying to get along with these rubbers when i should have been perfecting my strokes with nice, easy, medium-soft Japanese rubbers. Don't make the same mistake. DHS Gold Arc 8
Review of DHS Gold Arc 8I bought a red 47.5 max sheet for my back-end. I will compare with t05fx. Cons: Bouncy, short game needs adjustement to make short pushes. Completly non tacky wich paired with bounciness means less spinny serves. Pro: Every attack is a breeze. Banana flips are spinny, topspin attack easy, loop is great, smashes are powerfull. It has good speed, not as fast as t05fx, but more linear, easier to control on backhand, better for me. It has improved my game drastically, every short ball becomes a flip candidate with this rubber, making my game more aggressive. Great rubber all in all, i will try the 50 degree version too.Update 1: Great rubber but the serve department really is behind other rubbers. If you ask me this is a great learning rubber if tenergy on backhand is too much for you. Blocks, drives, topspin loops, flips all are great and easy to improve on backhand with this rubber. Durability definitely better than tenergy, almost twice as much. With this on backhand and 05 on forehand i won my first tournament today. Really worth it. Sep 28, 2019

Donic Acuda S2
Review of Donic Acuda S2It's a fantastic rubber. Incredibly controllable i don't know how at this moment it has only 8.2 at control, it's around a 9.0. You can do any shot with it. Because of its great spin and control i am able to do a smash hit with deadly accuracy. This will be my forehand rubber for a long time. It's only minus might be in the serving area, it's not very grippy so serves are not very spiny. But when the sponge comes into play on loops, the spin is incredible. And the lack of tackiness makes the top sheet less spin sensitive giving you better serve returns. I don't know how to explain this, it has a "meaty" feeling, if you hit hard you don't get to feel your blade, but still the tensor sponge which feels soft-ish at high speeds, which is great for me. Great rubber.Update 1: I have the Acuda S2 on the backhand too and guess what, it's just as great! I have a killer set-up, light but with a lot of power and spin with Acuda S2 on both fh and bh. Update 2: Bought a fresh one in 2015 and is a bit faster with a little more kick. Probably they are adapting to the polyball. Still same good feeling though. Apr 15, 2015

Donic Acuda S3
Review of Donic Acuda S3Great rubber. I have bought one fresh in 2015 and found it a tad harder with a little more kick. Still a great rubber with a lot of control. Makes a great bh and it pairs great with any blade, great last generation rubber : springy rubber, grippy topsheet, lightweight with good control.Apr 15, 2015

Donic Acuda S1
Review of Donic Acuda S1I am a great fan of Acuda S2 and i thought to try out the S1 too, hoping for the same great rubber with a little more gears. But man this rubber proved to be disappointing. Speed is the only thing that this rubber seems to have. Spin is just not enough for the speed, making it hard to control. I love to loop , but this rubber just makes things a lot more difficult, lots of my shots go off the table. Control is not good enough for me , not even on the smashes. Even the block is a bit difficult as the throw is a bit higher than the s2. All in all a rubber that only a good hard-hitter could find to its liking. More speed, less of everything else.Apr 09, 2013

Donic Liga
Review of Donic LigaBought this for a friend as a first rubber on bh and it is great. Very good control, decent spin, not much speed, excelent for a beginner's backhand. Also lightweight. Far better than the chineze stuff and at the same price, good rubber for learning all shots.Apr 15, 2015

Donic Acuda Blue P2
Review of Donic Acuda Blue P2I took it yesterday for a first try on my backhand. Incredible control. Very good, soft-ish topsheet that allow very good, very spinny serves(i serve on my backhand). Blocks are good, you get good feedback from your blade on active blocks. Pushes and touch shots are incredible, very controlled and with the grippy topsheet you can even chop effectively at low speeds.Even the sponge feels soft at low speed allowing you to do the extra spinny backhand-topspin-flip serve return that can throw your oponent off. As you start hitting harder, the sponge starts working and it feels a bit harder and with extra catapult alowing you to get to the extra speed you need. At higher speeds even topspin go deeper and bites harder. The big advantage is that you can easilly acces that higher speed even with your backhand, but it's that well balanced that it won't bother you on pushes. To me this rubber it's something between the Acuda S2 and the Xiom Vega Europe, but with an extra higher gear that none of them have. Throw is lower than Acuda S2 but a bit higher than the soft Vega Europe. Great rubber from Donic, and a good replacement for the Acuda S2. Feb 18, 2016

Friendship/729 Focus 3 Snipe
Review of Friendship/729 Focus 3 SnipeI was looking for a good backhand rubber with medium throw and unfortunately i bought this one in black. It's non-tacky which means serves are not spinny, and it has a very high throw. I bought the red one also hoping i got a bad sheet, but no. This rubber has a 8.0 throw in my opinion, it's way higher than H3 Neo or other DHS rubbers, and the worst part is that you can only feel this very high throw at higher speed. This rubber forces you to close you paddle twice as much as you should with a regular rubber (CreamTranscend, LKT Pro XP, Rapid Speed, etc ). This also makes blocks a bit weird, as you have to close your paddle a lot to block a fast incoming ball. All in all, unusable for bh, and too slow and non tacky for FH. It's speed is highly overrated by other peoples and i can't figure it why. Durability of the sponge is just terrible: as hard as you would try it's impossible to remove the water-glue from the sponge without making dents. I have 2 sheets in my drawer, accumulating dust, good for neither bh of fh. Hope this serves as a warning for others. Oct 02, 2012

Friendship/729 Aurora Max PRO
Review of Friendship/729 Aurora Max PROA very cheap rubber with decent speed. It is much more linear than many tensor giving it extra control. With pro points out of the way, let's get to the cons:When you remove it from the sealed package and the foil, the rubber forms a O shape with oposite edges touching. This makes glueing and cutting impossible. I've been able to glue and re-glue this rubber only heavily boosting it to reverse the O effect. Even then you have to take care, too much boost and it will bubble up. If you don't boost, the O shape effect is so strong it will come off your blade eventually. Rubber is nice and solid, orange-reddish looks durable. The topsheet is the problem. Slightly tacky it will stain and look bad imediately after a few balls. It also smells and looks like cheap tire rubber, durability of topsheet is poor. All in all is not worth it, but is a good step in the right direction, maybe next version without factory tunning it and with a better top sheet. Jun 01, 2021

KTL (LKT) Rapid Speed
Review of KTL (LKT) Rapid SpeedIt's a nice rubber, goes well for bh as well as fh at beginner levels. A medium-hard sponge enabling some speed if you really make the effort. The best between chinese clones (better than Cream Transcend, Focus, Pro XT ).To me it feels a lot more tackier than Cream transcend and on my sheets tack didn't wear off. With these 2 i learned to appreciate the advantages of tackiness. For controlled play this rubber is better than most. Not in any way near the new tensors or DHS but a really nice rubber. Update 1: Speed is definitely overrated, it cannot be 8.8(close to acuda s2). More 8.0, an all around rubber. Oct 18, 2013

KTL (LKT) Rapid Soft
Review of KTL (LKT) Rapid SoftI bought a pair for my wife ended up using them myself. Nice, controllable, tacky, medium soft rubbers. They are slow as hell, but if you tune them and add 5 layers of water glue and use a hard offensive blade they become quite a spiny rubber for the controlled attacker. Mine are very tacky, good for brush loop. If i stick the paddle on the door it stays like that and it doesn't come off. They are like a light, soft, slow version of DHS. If you improve the slow part you get a good rubber.Oct 22, 2013

Xiom Vega Europe
Review of Xiom Vega EuropeAfter my pair of acuda's worn out, i wanted something more spinner and with a little more kick. And i found what i was looking for in the Vega Europe. Max on a OFF blade they play best.Great spiny surface great for serves and brush loops. Good kick in loops if you do a full stroke. Great spiny pushes, very controllable. Great control in power loops and counter loops. Blocks are ok, good for a soft-ish rubber. If you are looking for a spiny rubber with lots of control and a bit of a kick, this is it. Update: I bought a fresh rubber in 2015 and they have changed it a bit. It is softer, the softest of the Vega series, a bit slower with more control, same good grip. Good for backhand use. Xiom Vega Elite
Review of Xiom Vega EliteI have tried this as i wanted a low throw rubber for my backhand. I got a low throw but not much else. This feels like a fist generation tensor, it's springy all the time, serves and pushes pop-up and does not allow you to get proper spin on them. Speed is pretty linear and very few gears...ok if you want only control, not ok if you want the occasional strong hit to catch your opponent off guard. Good at blocks and not much else. Go for Vega Europe if you want a backhand soft rubber because is a much better rubber from all points of view.Feb 19, 2016

Yasaka Mark V HPS
Review of Yasaka Mark V HPSI played with this rubber on bh for 6 months, it is a nice rubber but far from the good tensors out there. It is decent in looping spin, blocks, decent in control and with a comfortable medium throw. But it doesn't shine in none of them not compared with the other tensors : acuda S2, xiom sigma europe etc. It's just a rubber for transitioning to the real tensors out there. The big minus is the serving and pushing area. Spin is terrible on serves and pushes tend to pop-up both because the top-sheet is thin and the firmer sponge kicks in even on brush shots. All in all a training rubber not a serious competition rubber.Apr 19, 2013
