To me this is a perfect beginner or training rubber, very balanced with great control and CHEAP. If you use it in contests you likely won't like it, because it has beginner/training rubber performance. I think it might improve a lot of newer players to back up and practice with a rubber like this instead of using high performance rubbers all the time, just have something with more performance in tournaments. NOTE: I no longer would use this rubber as long as you can get kokutaku 868.

Great training rubber. The topsheet is medium hard. It comes in 42, 44, 46 sponge hardness. The black colored topsheet is very tacky and has blue sponge. It's intended for FH. The red colored topsheet is only slightly tacky and has red sponge. It's intended for BH. For many months now, I've been using the 46 hardness black and red topsheets on different blades. I'm very satisfied with this rubber's characteristics. When using the tacky black topsheet for FH, the speed is average. But the tacky topsheet can create enormous spin on service and looping. The control is also great due to the lower speed and tacky surface. However, this rubber has many gears. The speed is there when you need it. If you put in more power, you can easily get powerful shots. I have no trouble finishing points with this rubber on OFF- and OFF blades. The red rubber is very different from its black counterpart. It's only slightly tacky and mostly grippy. I've tried it on both FH and BH. Overall, I prefer it for BH. The red rubber has excellent for control. It can generate spin, but not nearly as good as the black rubber. It's speed is somewhat lacking as well. There are probably better choices for BH than the red 729 general. Comparing to Hurricane 3 Neo, the black 729 general is noticeably slower, but it makes up by having better control. It's as spinny as H3 neo and slightly lighter weight. The price to performance ratio of this rubber is great. If you are interested in trying out a tacky Chinese rubber but don't want to spend too much money, this rubber is a great place to start. Btw, this rubber has new packaging now. The picture on this website is out of date.

A good beginner rubber due mainly to it's price and simplicity. These rubbers last quite a while so they take "beginner abuse" quite well and by the time they need replacing, you'll be ready for something faster and spinnier. This isn't an overly tacky rubber and while it can't pick up a ball off the table, it does react enough to incoming spin to effectively teach a newer player how spin effects the game. Sponge-wise, it's fairly-firm and lacks any sort of real ability to engage the sponge, that said, it's a great rubber in the short game. Again, this is a very good do it all rubber for newer players or those looking for a step up from pre-made rackets.
