About Me

... apart from being a joker, I am male, born in 1962 and have been playing table tennis since 1975. My passion is: "hunting and collecting table tennis bargains!" (- or in other words, "testing until the doctor comes."?) My motto is: preferably, order fakes and clones of blades. - many are very close to the original, but cost considerably less. ... especially here, you can save a lot of money. ? (- if you use "AliExpress" for this!) My philosophy when putting together a racket: combine a blade that is as fast, stiff and direct with not too fast and "thick" rubbers. - simply offers more control!!! (... a blade can last forever, rubbers cannot.) BY THE WAY: I could easily afford a caravan for the money I have spent on table tennis equipment over the years. ?) Since I tend to lose far too many point games because of my head, it almost doesn't matter what I use at the table. Since I usually choose my materials very meticulously, primarily based on SHG, GHG, and rotational ability, I rarely have a completely "foreign object" on my blade. So, a point game represents the best situation for me to really get to know new materials. Many of my teammates are of the opinion that I'm getting in my own way because of this fact and that I should finally play with the same material for a longer period of time (to improve my playing level). But then where's the fun that a test junkie like me needs to avoid giving up the sport due to poor performance? ... And seriously, at 62, with two bad knees and a patched collarbone, I should be in a league of my own anyway! WIN!
About my reviews:
I always seal my woods with clear varnish (- except Hinoki!) and glue the rubbers with solvent-based glue. (... and never use boosters!!!) I always make sure that I compare my reviews (for the newly purchased material) with my old reviews. When it comes to details about rubbers, I like to hold back a little. I know only too well that the combination with different woods can lead to very different results.
I always clean my pads with a "do it yourself" solution of isopropanol, distilled water and a drop of washing-up liquid. - I have no interest in helping the rubber to die faster by using VOC-free cleaners (... which contain glycerine!) !!!
Many years ago, a request (to other users) brought me a lot of negative reviews. At the time, I called (in various reviews of mine) not to give ratings with a score of 10. - which in my opinion can only be exaggerated!!! 10 points are the measure of all things and we cannot predict that this measure has already been reached. - Or can we??? ???

Playing Style

I am known for my good serves !!! (- i like rotation!) ???
... and prefer to play topspin (FH) close to the table and a little behind. With my BH I smash what is ever possible. (... above the table or a little bit behind.) BH blocks with pressure I can do well, in the FH like BH. I do not chop very well with my BH but my FH is OK! - flicks I never learned !!! ?
- beacause I chop bad, I try to attack the opponent's serve above the table. Since I've watched a lot of videos with Adam Bobrow over the last few years, I've started to change my playing style. ...but only when I play away from the table! ;P
- recently a friend said to me, that he didn't know any other player in our club, who had as much feeling in his hands as I did. ??
