Review of 61 Second Lightning DS (Non-tacky)ATTENTION: all 61 second rubbers are NO LONGER on the ITTF list and are therefore no longer allowed in competition!!! Facts: Rubber with 36 and 38 degree sponge available. Weights for 36 degree versions (all uncut, inclusive protective film!): 1,8 mm red = 58 g , 2 mm red = (orig. pack. 72 g) 55 g and 2,2 mm red = (o.p. 72 g) 56 g !!! The weighs for the 38 degree versions lies between 50 and 55 g. (... for thickness 1,8 – 2,2 mm) !!!This rubber is, in my opinion, not as slow as in the overall rating !!!! (- ... the 36 as well as the 38 degree version!) It is clearly one of the fastest Chinese rubbers i have ever played !!! (... and very easy to control.)The version with 36 degree sponge has a higher, medium throw angle , more dynamic (catapult) and a better control, than the 38 dregree version. In my opinion, both sponges, according to international scale, are round about 2 degrees harder. The ball placement after service is, with both, easy to play. The medium hard top sheet produces enough spin and is, like both sponges too, very clean processed (- therefore good to cut). In addition, the rubbers have a good durability. - I feel the new 36 degree sponge version as an upgrade of the 38 degree version and consider it an excellent backhand rubber. Conclusion: Recommendable, very light allround rubber (best for BH) with very low price !!!! (- weighs on my Off+ blade, with 150 x 156 mm, only between 36 and 40 g.) Review of 61 Second EagleATTENTION: all 61 second rubbers are NO LONGER on the ITTF list and are therefore no longer allowed in competition !!! Since a friend was looking for 1.5 mm rubbers, I decided to try my luck again after many years of abstinence. ( ... at AliExpress!) Result: The topsheet is still sticky and appears to be of the same quality as before. It also still generates decent rotation! The speed also proved to be identical compared to two older 1.5 mm rubbers. The sponges, however, must have been reworked, as they are no longer as coarse-pored (crumbly!) and are now heavier. At 9 EURO, this rubber is still highly recommended. ... and not just because its three different sponge hardness levels! Addendum: I hope this rubber doesn't disappear from the international approval list anytime soon !!! - REVIEW 2019: this rubber is in my opinion not as slow as in the overall rating !!! ... and one of the softest and lightest rubber from china. (- not real a typical chinese rubber !!!) Super controlled and spinny. (- with catapult, not dead!) The ball acceptance and placement, after the opponents service, is very easy! This rubber is available with 36, 38 and 40 degrees sponge (chin. scale). The top rubber is medium soft and slightly tacky. My rubber with 36 degree sponge and 2,0 mm provides enough speed for my backhand. (... on my Btfy. Timo Boll ALC) My rubber weighs 56 g uncut with protective foil and 39 g on my blade !!! Even though the sponge can be cut sometimes badly, this rubber is nevertheless very good. What I also like particularly, is that this rubber is available in three sponge hardnesses. (- I ordered each with 2 mm and got a maximum weight of 62 g uncut inclusive foil !!!) This allows every player to find the right partner for his blade. Conclusion: This unusual china rubber should best be sold on the international market !!!! The 61 second kangaroo rubber is an average allround rubber. My version with 38 ° hardness sponge is more in the range between 40 to 42 degrees and the slightly sticky top rubber is quite taut and firm! The weight is uncut, at 1.5 mm thickness, in the range of 50 to 53 grams.All in all, I feel this rubber as irrelevant, because there are many similar but better rubbers in the same price segment !!! The red version of this rubber has been (2/2023) redesigned. (- darker sponge and a non-transparent topsheet in a lighter red !) The playing characteristics have also changed a bit. Rubber available in 3 hardnesses. 35,37,39 degree! At first I ordered 37 degree version. (... in my opinion all versions are round about 5 degree harder at int. level!) The top sheet is a little bit sticky and is, just like the sponge, very clean processed. Control, spin and ball placement are very good, the speed medium fast. Weights: 1.5 mm 46 g. and 2 mm 56 g. uncut. On my OFF blade, 157 x 150 mm, they weighs 33 and 39 g. After I had previously only ordered this rubber with a 35 & 37 degree sponge, it was now the turn for the 39 degree version. (2 mm, black. - lo and behold, still very good quality and low weight, as well as (... in this harder version) a little more speed and spin. (... than both softer versions) Unfortunately the quality of the black upper rubber is not as good as I was used to with the red version!!! (- here too the sponge is now darker!) The uncut weight of my rubber was 56 g. inclusive foil and at last 41 g. on my OFF blade. (157 x 150 mm). Addendum: the 39 degree version, 2,2 mm, red weighs on the same blade 45 g. Conclusion: no matter what degree of hardness, this rubber is definitely recommended. - for beginners and possibly also for advanced users! For me personally, this rubber in the 39 degree version is a real option for the backhand. Either with 2.2 mm or possibly also 2 mm on a very fast blade.Addendum: If YOU prefer speed, take the Lightning DS "non tacky" !!! If you prefer more spin, take the Pro or the Eagle. ( ... Pro and Eagle have a middle throw angle, a bit higher as by the DS "non tacky" version.) In addition, the Eagle “is the speed between” the DS pro and the DS non tacky !!! Review of Andro Rasant Beat2018: I absolutely can not understand, why this rubber is given with so much spin ability.- ...but I suspect, the overall rating in this regard is out of date ! These days, there are many rubbers on the market, that produce significantly more spin, what does not change anything at the good quality of the BEAT. The sponge of the rubber is indicated with 40 degrees but the playing feel is much softer, because of his very soft top sheet! The best spin, you can generate together with full wood blades. - the spin together with synthetic fiber blades is simply too low !!! The weight of my rubbers is each 56 g uncut !!! (black, 1.9 mm and red 1.7 mm) On my blade (158 x 150 mm) each rubber 40 g . Review of Andro Hexer Grip SFXI have adjusted my ratings !!!Update from 06/2020: Finally I found IT !!!! ... THE Spin monster with outstanding control !!! ( Weight: "light" selected, bl., 1,7 mm, packed 90 g and 58 g uncutted. ... 43 g on my OFF+ blade. (150 x 156 mm) After a test phase of 4 months with various rubbers, on various blades (Carbon, ALC, Super ZLC), I can finally finish my odyssey !!! In recent years, I have played no rubber, that has produced so much rotation. (- and there was even a Tenergy 05 FX among others !!!) Due to the introduction of the ABS ball, i was looking for a new forehand rubber, that gives the ABS ball the rotation I was used to. So far I played mostly rubbers with a sponge hardness of max. 42.5 degrees around 2 mm thickness. By the way, I've opted for a harder, stiffer and faster blade. (Jun Mizutani Super ZLC replica). In combination with the HEXER Grip SFX (which has only a 40 ° hard sponge and a tight upper rubber), with these harder blade, I now have a similar wonderful game feeling as before !!! (- I previously played a Timo Boll ALC with the Joola Rhyzm-Tech in 2 mm.) I play this rubber in 1.7 mm thickness on a Super ZLC blade at my FH and I'm simply thrilled !!!! Conclusion: This new SFX version with its 40° sponge plays amazingly direct and pleasant and undoubtedly suitable for the backhand as well as the forehand. Whether in active or passive game, every game situation (including service) can be mastered with great certainty. Yesterday while training with this wonderful new rubber, I had to be very surprised. My opponent could not reciprocate my service. When I played the old Hexer Grip (which is much harder, ... but SLOWER !!!) on a Sanwei King Kong 2 (Carbonblade), almost all my services came back !!!!! - I can only recommend to anyone to try this rubber !!! Review of Andro Hexer Powergrip SFXUPDATE from 09/2020: Still "THE spin-monster" with outstanding control !!! - the current overall assessment of this rubber is completely underrated. The Hexer Powergrip SFX can be found at the same spin level, as the Grip SFX. ... and beyond that, both rubbers are also significantly faster than specified. I am constantly testing new (different) rubbers, but in the end I have to keep stating, that this rubber is simply excellent, definitely one of the best medium rubbers at all !!! After a long test phase with various rubbers (see addendum at the end!), on various woods (Carbon, ALC, SZLC), I can finally finish my odyssey. In recent years, I have played no rubber, that has produced so much rotation. (- maximum a Tenergy 05!) My black one, with 1,7 mm sponge, weighs ("extra light" selected) 94 g packed and 61 g uncut ! (- normally it is about 5 g heavier !) Since 18 month now, I play (in the end again and again) the Powergrip SFX !!!! ... with a weight of 43 g (156 x 150 mm), on a stiff and hard ZLC blade with koto outerplies. In my opinion, the speed of the Powergrip SFX is only less higher, as by the Grip SFX. But the spin of both is equally outstanding, as well as the control. I had also tested the following comparable rubbers: ( - sorted by speed, in parenthesis the weight on my blade.) 1. Andro Rasanter R 42, 2 mm (45 g), 2. Gewo Nexxus EL Pro 43, 1,9 (41 g) 3. Joola Rhyzm-Tech in 2 mm (45 g) and Andro Bluefire M2 in 2 mm (45 g), 4. the DHS Gold ARC 5 with 42,5° in 2 mm (43 g) or in max. (45 g) The 3 Andro rubbers delivers the most spin.The Gewo Nexxus, Joola Rhyzm-Tech and the Gold ARC 5 produces round about the same spin. ... but together with the Butterfly Rozena and the Bluefire M2 they produce all less. Conclusion: Ultimately, none of these rubbers generates so much rotation and has such an outstanding control. ( - like both Hexer SFX rubber !!!) Review of Andro Hexer PowerspongeI think this rubber is UNDERRATED !!!Facts: red rubber, thickness 1.7 mm. Packed weight 86 g, uncut 58 g and finally 41 g at 156 x 150 mm! The very soft yellow sponge is specified by the manufacturer as 35 degree. Due to the very tight topsheet, the overall hardness is 48.8 degree. It is always interesting to compare older rubbers (- after the introduction of the plastic ball!) with the currently most popular ones! Since most of the reviews are from the years 2010-2011 (!!!), in my opinion they no longer have the desired significance today. I have tested this rubber on various offensive synthetic fiber blades. ( - mostly stiff and hard, with little vibration!) On my favorite blade, the Stuor Nobilis ZLC, (- read my review under "no brand"!!!) I play with an Andro Hexer Powergrip SFX in 1.7 mm (42.5 degrees sponge) on my FH. The Hexer Powersponge has neither his spin potential nor its speed, but is so perfect for my BH. It is simple to return serves (with much rotation) over the table with him, because you can “wrap” the ball well! The spin is above average, the control always really good and there is also enough catapult and speed! Conclusion: In my opinion, the Hexer Powersponge has proven here, that it is still rightfully on the market. Review of Andro Rasanter R42UPDATED!!!In my opinion, this rubber is a real spin monster. You can see what is possible with it in many videos by Adam Bobrow on YouTube!!! ;-P (- as far as I know, he plays it on an Andro Kanter Carbon! ... but he has since switched to the R 45.) I personally use it on my Stuor Professional Long V (Cybershape) on the forehand side. ( - for me, with this combination I have found a racket with which I can act much more successfully against pimpled or anti-players!!! ;-P) Facts: my (green) 2.0 mm rubber weighed 94 g in the original packaging, 64 g uncut and most recently on my Cybershape blade 46 g. - relatively light for Cybershape dimensions!!! The sponge hardness is 42 degrees (int. level = 35 degrees chin. level), the total hardness is given (by Spin & Speed in Germany!) as 48.8 degrees. Conclusion: In my opinion, the R 42 is a Hexer Powergrip SFX with a softer top rubber, which gives the rubber more catapult and speed! ... it delivers a lot of spin and is very controlled. For these reasons it should also be of interest to many players. I recommend it for rather stiff and not too soft blades!!! Addendum: I now also use this rubber (with 2 mm) on my Huieson ZLC and this harder and faster wood enables an very controlled offensive game with a lot of rotation !!! ;-P Addendum: i´ve glued my rubbers with solvent-based glue! Review of Andro NUZN 50I bought this rubber based on a recommendation from "Let's play table tennis" (see the video on YouTube!). They tested it (on an inner-layer blade!) and described it as the perfect attacking rubber! Facts: black rubber, 2 mm thick, SHG: 50 degrees, 47.6 g at 157 x 150 mm. ... not sticky, can't hold the ball! After gluing this rubber (with solvent-based glue!) to my Lemuria Super ALC (a Viscaria SALC clone with Koto top veneer and outer carbon) and testing it, I was initially extremely disappointed. "Rather" little speed and catapult effect, and truly, only moderate spin. The rubber felt relatively lifeless, and for the first time, I considered boosting a rubber! (But that's definitely out of the question for me.) The Nuzn 50 simply didn't have enough grip. Conclusion: I'll soon be sticking this rubber band on my SANWEI 54 Inner Yellow ALC and then hopefully witness it "come to life"! ;-P ... To be continued!Mar 13, 2026 | |||||||||

Review of Boer Sriver-HEI ordered this rubber out of pure curiosity !!!After I got it, I informed the seller that this rubber is not worth the money. His comment on this: Dear customer, this is an economical rubber. The quality of the rubber is definitely different depending on the price. Facts: weight packed 85 g., uncutted with foil 59 g. and cutted (157 x 150 mm) 44 g. This soft rubber (maybe around 40 degree sponge hardness) , with medium speed and catapult generates almost no rotation !!! ... and no grip, no curve !!! ( - ... maybe this rubber is an anti topspin rubber ????? ) In addition, there is an ITTF mark on the rubber and the packaging., but unfortunately I could not find an entry in the approval table !!! ;-P Conclusion: this rubber is unsuitable even for beginners und definitely not recommended !!! Review of Butterfly RozenaVersion of Feb. 21 revised !!! Facts: black rubber with 1.9mm sponge, 92 g. (with packaging), uncutted 65 g. and 44 g. on my OFF+ALC blade. Butterfly states the hardness of the sponge as 35 (Japanese) degrees. - that corresponds to 45 degrees according to international level. The top rubber is quite soft and has a good grip. After finding out many years ago that the Tenergy 05 and 05 FX were too "demanding" for me, I thought I might try the (officially called) "stripped down version". ... the Rozena. (- which is supposed to be easier to control!!!) I ended up playing/testing this rubber for 2 years on different blades. How good or bad it is in the end depends primarily on the blade used. ... it particularly determines spin development and controllability. Sometimes the Rozena (like the Tenergys 05) is also susceptible to incoming spin!!! ...but still easier to control!!! I had the best result with a medium-fast solid wood blade. With such a blade the control was very good and the spin was very high. The worst result was in connection with a hard, fast ZLC blade! - Here the susceptibility to spin was particularly high!!! Due to these very different experiences, I refrain from entering the following values in the table. Spin characteristic: 8.8 to 9.4. Controllability: 8.8 to 9. CONCLUSION: on the right blade, this rubber is really very good! Review of Butterfly Dignics 80(01/23) Updated: I couldn't help, but really spend some money !!! Facts: black rubber with 1,9 mm and 52-54 (international!) degree sponge, orig. packed 92 g. (extra light, selected), uncut 66 g. and at the end 45 g. on my Off+ blade (with 156 x 150 mm). First I tried this rubber, at my FH, together with my Butterfly fake "Z.JK. SZLC" and had to find out, that this combination gives a very "hard" play feeling! - actually logical! ... a very hard blade together with this very hard rubber = very hard feeling !!! Next I used the Lemuria clone from Butterfly´s Revoldia CNF, named Lemuria CNF. (- see rating!) These two harmonizes really better together. ... but too not perfect! With this combination, I can place the opponent's serves (in my forehand side) very safely and shortly (behind the net) and my blocks were also safer. - both better than ever before. At last I used my Lemuria ZB (Butterfly´s Harimoto Tomokazu ALC, Innerlayer clone) and no I feel an almost perfect play feeling. ... clearly the best combination so far !!!!By the way: I actually always had never the feeling that this rubber absorbs the opponent's spin !!!!! ( - like theT 05) ... Wonderful ! Conclusion: excellent rubber (- as long as the blade is not too hard!) and not only for better players. - ... but unfortunately impossible price! Addendum: now, after one year, I can say with a clear conscience that the durability is extremely good. ( - around twice as long as most rubbers!) ... so I see the price as justified !!! Review of Butterfly Dignics 09CUpdate on Sept. 25: this rubber is still the most versatile and "easiest to play" high-performance rubber on the market. ... definitely spin resistant and superbly controlled. - even though it generates a lot of rotation itself! My first black one weighed 49 g., with a thickness of 1.9mm (at 150 x 157 mm) and is minimally sticky. The sponge hardness of this rubber is given as 54 to 56 degrees (internal level), but in my opinion it feels significantly softer. (approx. 50 degrees) This rubber feels most comfortable on (- not too hard!) fast blades! What I can't understand is, that it is described everywhere that this rubber requires an adjustment. - of course it has less catapult in the short game, but is otherwise easy to master. In the short game, this rubber is a real bank. Retourning your opponent's short serves (close to the net) is child's play, cause the rubber has little catapult! However, I always lack a little speed in my topspins. ( - which could mean, that my arm stroke is too slow or the the thickness to low! ;-P) Ball placement is essentially very easy as the control and grip are extremely high. After a short time, I unfortunately realized that I was making minor mistakes when playing over the table. - the balls got stuck in the net too often !!! Increasing the sponge thickness to 2.1 mm was the solution. MORE Facts: black rubber in 2,1 mm in orig. pack., 102 g., uncut incl. foil 78 g., cut 48 g. Red rubber in 1.9 mm 45 g cut. - all by 157 x 150 mm !!! Addendum: The differences in the speed ratings in the table between the Dignics 64, 80 and the 09c are definitely too large. Review of Butterfly Glayzer 09CReview revised !!! In my opinion, this rubber is faster than indicated in the table and also generates significantly more spin. ... furthermore, it can only hold the ball for "a brief moment". My first impressions of this rubber (over 2 years ago!) were rather negative! I got the rubber (from a good friend) to test and compared it for half an hour on my stiff, fast Stuor Nobilis ZLC Hinoki with my Dignics 09 C. (both with 1.9 mm.) - and to be honest, still think that this rubber is completely underrated!!! In comparison to the Dignics 09 c, the rotation, end speed and also the throwing angle are lower, but due to the lower hardness of the Glayzer I have the impression that it has more catapult! ...which was also confirmed in my short game. When I sometimes suffer from a bit of a lack of strength, I notice how I have to "work" with my Dig.09c. It's different with the Glayzer 09 c. It's less demanding to play. In the short game and block it is much "livelier" than the Dignics 09c. (- and EVEN I can "shoot" with it!!!! :-D ) ... although I am currently using it on the very fast (old version of the) XVT ZL Koto blade. ( - to find the right blade for this rubber, is absolutely important!!!) Conclusion: this rubber is unfortunately not the "high-flyer" and "low-budget Dignics" we were hoping for, but it is a "home-made development" very close to the Dig. 09c - and as we now know, it has already found a lot of friends! ( - therefore updated. ;)) Facts: black rubber, 2.2mm, slightly sticky, 87g. wrapped, uncut 63 g., on (... a very fast! blade:) Stuor Nobilis ZLC Hinoki (157 x 150 mm) 44 g. degree of hardness ??? - maybe 50 degrees (internat.). The rubber only says Dawei Saviga (not Qingji), the sponge is blue. I hope this rubber is not only sold by "ORIGINAL-PINGPONG Store" on AliExpress! – because: 1. Shops that don't take responsibility for their mistakes and prefer to blacklist the customer shouldn't sell. 2. THIS rubber is really recommended!!! - at the beginning "scrap". ...but then THE surprise!!! The first impression (“worst rubber ever”) turned out to be completely wrong. At first (glued with solvent glue), the shortest throwing angle I've ever experienced with an invertedrubber. The ball almost fell on impact. ( - almost zero catapult!) One could have spoken of a "disturbing effect" here. (- would certainly have been fun for defensive players!) The spin development is quite high, BUT then: a day later a completely different "feeling". ...all OK!!! CONCLUSION: Apart from the speed, this rubber has everything that is needed. Great control and lots of spin!!! The biggest highlight of this rubber, in my opinion, is the fact that a lot of rotation can be generated just by using the wrist. - I could very well imagine that this rubber with booster is really excellent. ... try it, absolutely!!! In addition, the price is unbeatable. Addendum: I also ordered this rubber in red. Unfortunately it ended up with a yellow sponge and although I wanted it to be lighter it ended up weighing more than the seller promised!!! (- and ultimately 2 grams more on the blade than the black one....) - I had to keep it anyway! Review of DHS Gold Arc 5A few days ago I happened to play this rubber again. -and it´s really NOT sticky !!! ... but available with 42.5 and 47.5 degree sponge !!! UPDATED ! Before I played with Dignics 09 c and Nittaku Fastarc G-1, I had, for half a year, on my Stuor Nobilis ZLC Hinoki blade the 47.5 degree version in max. She is a bit faster, but has the same excellent control !!! (- on the same wood, same thickness.) - both versions are not particularly bouncy and in this respect are reminiscent a bit of a Dignics 09 c !!! ( - especially in the short game.) To generate spin is very easy and incoming spin is not a problem. Flat hitting is the parade discipline of this rubber. My ratings for the 47.5 degree version: Speed: 9,0, Spin 9,4 and control 9.5 . - in my opinion, the ratings in the table refer to the 42.5 degree version !!! ( ... just like mine from 2019.) For comparison: the Nittaku FastArc G-1 (also 47.5 degrees in max.) has a little less speed, more spin, less control and less weight. - and a softer touch! Btfy. Usually I did not want to write a review about this gum because my disappointment with it was very big and does not at all agree with the opinions of other users. I will never understand why sticky DHS rubbers supposedly generate more spin than non-sticky ones! - even if the stickiness of the rubber logically creates a greater rotation with slow striking movements. I believe that these rubbers only develop their full potential with the help of tuners. Recently, however, I bought a Stuor blade called the "Nobilis ZLC Hinoki". (- Report on this under "no brand" !!!) As has recently been known, Hinoki is supposed to improve the rotation level of rubbers as an outer veneer. ... which is obviously true. ( - Thank God !) My experiences were not comparable to the current one. The low speed and the low catapult had surprised me, the poor spin development (regardless of whether Koto with ALC or SZLC blades or solid wood) was completely disappointing. - I even asked myself, "did I catch a FAKE?" I only liked the throwing angle, as it is pleasantly high. Despite everything, I think this rubber is completely overrated! Conclusion: If this rubber had more speed and catapult, it would also be recommended for the university of applied sciences, but at best it is recommended for the bra. However, I am sure that if you use booster, you will be happy with it at your FH too! Unfortunately, this rubber is sold under two different names! - DHS Hurricane 9 Blue and DHS H9 Blue.Facts: my (blue) H9 in 2.15 mm thickness weighs 96 grams in the original packaging, 70 grams uncut including protective film and finally, cut to 157 x 150 mm, (heavy) 51 grams. Unfortunately, I couldn't understand the stated sponge hardness of 39 degrees. With my Shore Meter I could only measure 36 degrees!!! This H9 is (glued with conventional solvent-based glue, unboosted!!!) an absolute disaster. (- I hope I didn't buy a fake!!!) No matter how fast the blade is, there is simply no speed to be gained from the rubber. Although it is slightly sticky, it does not even achieve mediocre spin values! Softer, more elastic woods "play along" with it, but do not change the completely poor performance. Only the catapult behavior feels higher and more pleasant. Review of DHS Gold Arc 9UPDATED! After being pleasantly surprised by the GoldArc 9 (38-degree sponge, 2.1 mm), I’ve now bought one with a 37-degree sponge and 2 mm thickness. Weight in original packaging: 108 g. Uncut: 65 g. - I’m really curious to see how it compares to the firmer version, and I’ll report back soon! ;-P After playing the Gold Arc 5 (with 47.5 degree sponge in max.) for a season a few years ago, I was very excited about the new GA 9. I'm testing this rubber (... once again, first) on my Huieson ZLC outer, on my FH. ( ... together with the Xiom Veha Hybrid, both glued with solvent-based glue.) Facts: black rubber in 38 degree version with 2.1 mm sponge. Weight in original packaging 112 g., sealed 79 g. and uncut 76 g. On my blade, the final result is a pleasant, medium weight of 48 g. (157 x 150 mm). For years "a" GA 5 has been made in Germany and plays almost like a mixture of Tensor and China rubber ;P and now there's the GA 9, made in China, which plays almost like a Tensor!!! - funny. :-D From the very first hits, it is immediately apparent that the GA 9 is much softer/more elastic and catapults better than the GA-5 (with 47.5 degrees at max.). The speed and rotation level of both seem to be roughly identical. What I definitely like about both rubbers is that they both react very little to incoming rotation and play in a very controlled manner. Unfortunately, I am currently unable to directly compare the 37-degree and 38-degree versions of the GA 9, consequently I have not made any entries in the table for them. However, the fact remains that these highly catapult-like rubbers deliver impressive speed, which results in a slight loss of control. Packed 90 g, uncut 55 g, cut on my Zhang JK SZLC replica (150 x 156 mm) only 38 g !!!! I bought this rubber, because I was looking for a lighter BH rubber. In the past I always played BH rubbers with 36-38 g weight and so my blade had a maximum weight of 170 g. (- ... which my wrist likes much better.)In my opinion, the Desto F4 is relatively hard for a 40 degree rubber, which is probably due to a very tight top sheet. (- my Bluefire BigSlam or my Andro Hexer Grip SFX with 40 degrees, feels much softer.) Conclusion: It is advisable not to choose the hardest and stiffest blade for this rubber! In combination with my very hard blade, the feel of the game is ultimately too hard and too direct for me, and I lose the actually quite good control that I'm used to . What surprised me in an absolutely positive way about this very inexpensive rubber,is, the very decent spin development. This rubber is an excellent alternative for beginners, advanced users and players who are looking for a controlled BH rubber. Weight packed 95 g., uncutted 65 g. and on my Cybershape blade 46 grams.After I ordered a Xiom Omega 7 Pro in 2mm (as a forehand rubber for my new Lemuria "Cybershape 6", inner layer carbon wood), I found out that this rubber is perfect for my backhand side. :-/ So I started looking for a rubber that was as light as possible and that produced a lot of spin. - ... and so I decided to try the Donic Baracuda Big Slam (in 2mm)!!! Since it was a bit too slow in 2mm, I ended up buying it in the maximum thickness. Interestingly, my feeling with the Big Slam was the opposite of what I felt on the regular Barracuda. What I mean to say is that the normal Barracuda (with 47.5 degree sponge) seems softer and the Big Slam (with its 38 degrees) on the other hand seems harder! I found the difference in speed between the two rubbers to be rather small, with the normal Barracuda delivering significantly more spin than the Big Slam. ( - admittedely the "normal" Barracuda is glued on a completely different blade! ... a very hard ZLC blade with Koto outerveneer!) Conclusion: Like its big brother, the Big Slam sometimes takes on a good portion of spin and then seems a bit uncontrolled in passive play. However, if you can deal with the opponent's rotation, the rubber appears safe and controlled. ... and it produces almost as much spin as its big brother !!! ( -chin. level approx. 35 degree) The top rubber is slightly sticky. (...with proper care, even after 3-4 months!!!) CONCLUSION: This is now my number one BH rubber. Review of Donic BlueStar A2AGAIN Updated! ... and adds. THIS rubber is definitely "not tacky" and can "not really lift the ball." Facts: Sponge Hardness 50 degree ( - but feels softer!) My black rubber with 2 mm weighs 48 g. my blue one in max. 50 g. (157 x 150 mm) For my first test, I stuck the rubber (with solvent-based glue) onto my Huieson ZLC (- outer). The DOTZ test turned out to be extremely interesting. With minimal use of the wrist, you can generate an incredible amount of rotation. My first Impressions after playing: the rotation at my serves, is absolutely outstanding and higher than every rubber I played in the past. - however this rubber is a bit sensitive to the incoming rotation. In contrast to the Dig 09c, where I can neutralize the opponent's spin much better! I see the biggest advantage of the A2, that you can return the ball very early above the table and generate enormous rotation with a short arm movement. Because I am curious, I change the blade, now I use the Lemuria Viscaria SALC (Btfly. Clone) This blade is clearly the better choice. Due to the fact that the A2 has much more catapult (and more speed!) than my Dig. 09c in max. thickness, I don't feel save with it in the short game. - although, all in all he is already very controlled. While with the 09c I can deliberately take the ball very late and still be able to get it to the target, with the A2 I have to go to the ball much earlier in order to be able to play balls with high quality! Conclusion: The A 2 is a very interesting rubber for mid and higher class player, who like playing near the table !!! ... and does not differ significantly from the A1. - I think playing Counter Spins with this, will be fun for many players! Review of Donic BlueStar A1UPdated: Dear readers, whenever I see the "tackiness" values" in the table, I wonder what exactly is being evaluated here! Because: "Tackiness" describes how well the rubber "grips" the ball and how easily spin can be generated. "Stickiness," on the other hand, describes whether a rubber can lift and hold the ball. ;-) The Blue Star A1 (like the A2) can only hold the ball for a very brief moment, but it is extremely spin-oriented! Facts: black rubber, 2 mm, 49 g. cut. (156 x 150 mm) First test on a Huieson ZLC (outer!) - glued with solvent-based glue. Apart from the noticeably higher hardness (52 degrees) compared to the A2, this rubber feels the same "softer"! Just like with the A2, you can generate incredible spin simply by using your wrist! - which helps me immensely to play serves with incredible spin. :-P ... however, this rubber is also "a bit" sensitive to incoming spin. Unlike the Dig 09c, with which I can neutralize the opponent's spin quite easily, the A1 presents different challenges. I found its greatest strength to be the ability to pull the opponent's shorter serves forward very early (over the table). (Definitely try it out!!!) In the short game, the rubber is more difficult to control than my Dig 09c (because of the higher catapult effect!), but the control is still very good. Secure blocking and pushing are no problem. However, when I played with the racket further away from the table, I was initially not at all satisfied. I didn't feel comfortable with either topspins or counters, which was a mystery to me... especially after reading completely different reviews here!!! My conclusion: I changed blades. Now I'm using the XVT ZL Koto (1st & 2nd generation), faster, but softer. Result: the control has suffered too much. :( ... CONCLUSION ??? ... Review of Donic BlueGrip J2After playing with the BlueStar A2 (52.5° sponge) for several months, and briefly testing the BlueGrip C2 (55° sponge) in between, I decided to try out the BlueGrip J2, which is billed as a "symbiosis of the BlueStar and BlueGrip C series" (52.5° sponge, with a claimed overall hardness of 55.2°). I tested all three rubbers (in max thickness) on my Lemuria SALC, a clone of the Butterfly Viscaria SALC. When I played with the C2, which actually has a harder sponge (55°) than the other two, I immediately felt him much softer than the J2 or the A2.- I think a very soft topsheet is responsible for this impression. Regarding the ball trajectory, I didn't notice any major differences between the three rubbers. However, in terms of spin generation, the J2 ranked last among the three; both the A2 and the C2 produced significantly more spin for me. Overall, I didn't find the playing feel of the J2 particularly pleasant, - it felt harder than most other 52.5° rubbers. ( ... and even harder than the C2!) Conclusion: the J2 is absolutely not an option for me. It simply lacks elasticity! By the way, my rubber in max thickness (cut to 157 x 150 mm) weighs 49.2 grams (compared to 50 g for my A2). The topsheet of the J2 isn't tacky enough to really grip the ball. I've tested a lot of bad rubbers in the past, but most of them were (definitely) fakes from China. (- ... Tenergy 05, Rakza 7 Soft and Hurricane 3 Nat.Blue Sponge) This (my) rubber may also be a fake. ... there was no anti-counterfeit code sticker on the protective rubber film !!!!! Please, don't order this rubber from GOO Store at AliExpress !!!! In any case, this double fish rubber has, in my opinion, "no right to exist"! With a weight of 104 grams in the original packaging and 72 grams uncut, this "weight lifting rubber" is at most an alternative for material players who want to "put" some weight on the racket due to the use of OX pimples. The spin development is quite acceptable, but the rubber has less elasticity, catapult respectively speed. On my (fast) Viscaria replica (150 x 157 mm) the rubber weighed "52 grams" after cutting (- glued with normal glue, without booster)! I suspect, the speed of the rubber will be enough even for defensive players. This rubber is currently the absolute best value for money on AliExpress – whether with 35° or 37° Chinese sponge hardness. For a fantastic €12 to €13 (US$14–15), these versions, which are only available in maximum thickness (and can barely lift the ball!), offer good control, sufficient speed and catapult effect, as well as above-average spin. The feel of these, as mentioned, non-stick rubbers is very reminiscent of a hybrid rubber. The ball flight is in the upper-middle range for the 37° version and in the middle range for the 35° version. Provided you don't receive defective goods, the 37° version weighs only 61–63 g uncut, including protective film! The 35° version weighs between 64 and 66 g, uncut with film. Conclusion: Besides the DHS Gold Arc 5 (€25), which is exceptionally good and highly recommended, I consider the two Phoenix 2 variants to be among the absolute best rubbers under €25. Review of Double Fish Volant PhoenixThe standard VOLANT Phoenix (also called VOLANT 1!) is offered with sponge hardnesses of 39, 40, and 41 degrees. I've only tested the 39-degree version so far! Compared to the Phoenix 2, with 35 or 37 degrees, this rubber feels relatively lifeless to me. Due to the high hardness and the resulting reduced catapult effect, this version requires a considerable amount of body force to generate speed and spin (similar to some Chinese sticky rubbers! ...and that's even though this version also doesn't really hold the ball well). Because of the higher hardness, more flexible blades that are themselves less hard are recommended (...to get these rubbers spinning!). Since the price is roughly the same as the Phoenix 2, I don't think this rubber is a good choice for players with a European playing style. The weight of my 39-degree rubber is also considerably higher at 70 grams (uncut with protective film). However, I don't know if this weight is standard. In the Dotz test, I can't determine that this rubber generates above-average spin or speed!!! First impressions after the first test match: This supposed "super rubber" is an absolute phenomenon!!! I've never had a "stranger," more interesting" rubber before. It sounds like an anti-swing and offers incredible control!!! (- I've never experienced anything like this with any other rubber.) Somehow, at first, you get the feeling that it barely generates any catapult, but then you realize that it actually generates decent speed and achieves high spin values. Second impression: at the next day, the solvent in the glue has now evaporated, and the rubber clearly shows a loss of speed and even a little spin. In the short game, when I return balls without pressure, I find that the balls fall into the net more often. The rubber now generates so little catapult and speed that I can barely exert any pressure on my opponent from half distance. :-( - Disaster! ... BUT, if it were about 0.2 mm thicker, hardly anyone would need to boost it!!! ;-PConclusion: My impression is that most of the "overly positive" reviews are probably due to the use of boosters. I consider this rubber to be at most Upper-middle-of-the-road!!! - a comparison with a Dignics 09c would be unfair!!! Many years ago I bought this rubber in the 42 degree version, with 2.1 mm sponge (in China) for my FH. For its very low price, I thought it was really, really good. ... but ended up putting it back “in the corner”. - Why? Too little spin !!! A few years later, I was looking for a light and cheap BH rubber and realized that 2.1 mm was too fast for me, so I ordered it (from "TTDD" for 16 Euro) in 42 degree version with 1,8 mm. At first I was disappointed that it was a lot heavier, but I was able to say, that I had made the right choice. This rubber has currently replaced my 61 Second Eagle (... specified with 36 degree sponge, in 2.2 mm thickness, ... on my Stuor Nobilis ZLC Hinoki). I simply have more speed (or better more catapult) with the F3 Snipe for the half-distance by the same good control and comparable arc. (2 mm) My original plan was to compare the Friendship Focus 3 Snipe (at 42 degrees) to the Focus 3 Pre Energie (at 42 degrees). - unfortunately I got this rubber in the version with 46 degree sponge !!! ... and so the actual purpose of my test is no longer given and of course neither is the comparison. But whatever !!!Facts: black rubber, 2 mm thick, the 46 degree sponge is under a lot of tension. ( - and seems a little softer to me! ) The rubber was sealed airtight in foil and had a total weight of 62 grams. Uncut with the protective foil covering it was 54 g, without the foil ultimately 52 g. (- like the Focus 3 Snipe, this rubber is also relatively light !!!) Experience has shown that a weight of 39 or 40 g should end up. (156 x 150mm). - I first cut the rubber to (slightly larger than) “Cybershape”, to test it on different blades! In my first test, I still used the Focus 3 Snipe for comparison on an XVT ZL koto blade! Of course, you can feel the harder sponge of the Focus 3 Pre immediately. It delivers more rotation as well speed and catapult. ( - this rubber seems most similar to the KTL pro XP Red Dragon! ) In my opinion, this rubber is perfect for the backhand. - only far away from the table, I would wish for a little more speed! On the forehand side, this rubber would not be an option for me because it is simply too slow for me and produces too little spin. - considering the low price, this rubber is absolutely worth the money!!! Review of Gewo Hype XT Pro 40.0Update from 08/2019: - In my opinion, this rubber is completely underrated!!! Facts: Black rubber with 1.7 mm. Uncut 59 g. and 44 g. cut on my Off+ blade (Stuor Prof. Long 5 with 160 x 152 mm). The sponge hardness is 40 degrees. ( - due to the very firm top rubber, I assume that the overall hardness must be over 50 degrees. ... similar to the Tibhar AURUS Sound! After testing this rubber with 1.9 mm sponge thickness on my Long 5 Replica, I bought it with 1.7 mm for my FH. Unfortunately, this wood does not harmonize with this rubber. The feel is very direct but somehow not dynamic enough. ... although the speed is sufficient! I have also tested this rubber on various other woods. In combination with softer woods, the rubber performed better. For a rubber with 40 degree sponge, this rubber is relatively hard and therefore really exceptional. Addendum: Since the beginning of 2024 I have been playing this rubber (instead of the Btfly. Ten. 64) on the BH side. The weight (in red, with 1.7 mm) was 86 g in original packaging, 61 g uncut and finally on my Btfly. Z.JK. Today I am aware that this rubber is definitely faster than I originally thought !!! - besides, I didn't remember it being so catapultic. 1. review 01/22 ! Facts: black rubber, 1.9 mm, packed 88 g, uncut 59 g and cut to 155 x 148 mm, 41 g., sponge hardness 43 degrees. - the main hardness is unfortunately unknown! The upper rubber makes a very tight & firm impression. When I was looking for an upgrade for my "spin monster", the Andro Hexer Powergrip SFX, I quickly realized that there is no such thing!!! The PG SFX combines a medium-hard sponge of 42.5 degrees with a very firm "harder" top rubber to give a total hardness of 53.5 degrees. (... Thanks, "Spin & Speed" for the data!) - this rubber really seems harder!!! What I like better about the EL 43, is the feeling when hitting and the lower weight. However, despite the higher catapult (which explains the better hitting feel!), it is ultimately a bit slower than the PG SFX and has less spin. The control values are comparably high. ... AND: the EL 43 "clicks" so beautifully loud !!! :-P Conclusion: for me, absolutely no replacement for "THE spin monster" Andro Hexer Powergrip SFX, but all in all a very good, recommendable rubber with a lower weight. - I tested the EL 43 on various synthetic fiber woods and used solvent-based glue. 2. AND: the reviews for speed are to low !!! ... and I also find the ball flight curve to be higher than it is generally rated. A good friend of mine, who needs very light material due to a physical limitation, so I let him test my rubber on his blade, on the FH side. He was also impressed, but we both agreed that the thickness should be 1.9 mm. ... so I bought 2 rubbers in black and red with 1,9 mm at the next shop ! :-D) Facts: black rubber, 1.9 mm, 85.2 g. in original packaging, uncut 61.2 g. and cut to 154 x 151 mm only 41 g. Red rubber, 87 g. in original packaging, uncut, 62 g. I play it, glued with solvent-based glue, on my XVT ZL Koto. - as I already wrote, this rubber is perfect for my backhand. On my forehand, I prefer rubbers with a hardness of over 50 degrees, as well as the maximum possible rotation!!! :-P Conclusion: in my opinion, this rubber is truly underrated and has received far too little attention. ... so give him a try! Review of Gewo Codexx EL Pro 52UPDATE! When I read the reviews back then (early 2025!), I had to shake my head!!! - because in my opinion, the truth lay somewhere in between. This rubber is definitely not (too) slow. ... boosting is absolutely unnecessary!!! This rubber is actually quite controlled by nature. However, if it's used passively (- or the racket angle is incorrectly "set"!), the balls fly in all directions!!! The maximum speed of this rubber (at 2 mm) is easier to reach than with my then-favorite rubber, the Dig. 09c (1,9 mm). - but ultimately, it's not higher, just comparable. (... with less effort!!!)As far as spin potential is concerned, the EL 52, in my opinion, delivers even more rotation than a Dig. 09c. - above all, you need significantly less arm movement!!! Facts: the sticky top rubber can hold the ball for a few seconds! My two black EL 52 weigh 50 and 51 g respectively (at 156 x 150 mm). The hardness level (as you might guess ;-P) is 52°. I tested it (in direct comparison with the Dig.09c) on a Huieson ZLC (outer carbon, Z. JK. copy) and on my Sanwei 75 inner ALC. (Both are OFF blades!) I achieved better performance on the Sanwei blade. CONCLUSION: If spin sensitivity isn't a concern and you're using a sufficiently fast blade, you can get by with a 2mm thick sponge. This rubber should be rated using the plastic ball!Facts: my (extra lightly selected) red rubber with 1.8 mm sponge weighed 78 g in the original packaging and 54 g uncut. The sponge hardness is 37.5 degrees, the total hardness is 47.9 degrees. (Such information and some more, you can ONLY find at the "most thorough" TT shop in Germany, "SPIN und SPEED." - ... which I would definitely recommend here !!!) In the search for a very light rubber, with good catapult and not too much speed (... for a very hard and fast blade!), I came across this old classic. - ... the last I played about 18 years ago, but it had too much catapult and too little control for me at the time. (... when using the celluloid ball !!!) Even nowadays, with plastic balls, this rubber is (in combination with very hard, fast blades and preferably max. 2 mm sponge) quite suitable for an aggressive backhand game. My blade, currently combined with the X-tra, is a replica of the Butterfly Lin Yun Ju Super ZLC from Lemuria. (- read my review under "no brand" !!!) ... my rubber has a weight of 37 g by 156 x 150 mm. Conclusion: this rubber is still absolutely recommendable even today, whether for beginners or advanced players. Weight, cut by 150 x 156 mm, 47 g. In retrospect, what surprises me is that this rubber was touted as very fast. - this in my opinion nonsens! But no rubber before gave my service so much rotation (probably due to the very soft upper rubber !!!)and it was never been easier for me to return the opponent service !!! I would describe this wonderful rubber as indulgent and very safe. - ... and the first spin machine, I have played to 2019. Thanks to JOOLA !!!! - ... my game has really become safer and I got more success. Review of JOOLA Tronix ACCUpdate (as of 11/2024)! FACTS: Rubber in original packaging, blue, 2 mm, 103 g, uncut 66 g. Cut to 157 x 150 mm, 45 g. Rubber in blue & Max., same dimensions, 48 g. The sponge hardness of the rubber is listed as 47.5 degrees. The total hardness is (according to SPIN & SPEED, Germany!) 56.3 degrees. This rubber is not sticky & and can not hold the ball! When I tested the rubber in 2 mm thickness on a Sanwei 75 ALC Inner blade, it seemed too fast and therefore quite uncontrolled. However, what was absolutely positive was the high spin potential! Unfortunately, I couldn't perceive better control values ??on other blades either (- than I'm used to from, for example, a Nittaku Hammond Z2 or Dig. 09c!). Conclusion: In my opinion, this rubber, along with the Dig. 09c, is currently one of the most spin-capable rubbers on the market. …and I've never had a rubber that was faster at 2 mm thickness!!! Addendum: Addendum: Several of my comrades (who also tested this rubber) felt that the control of this rubber wasn't particularly good. Therefore, I'm surprised by the high, positive rating in the table! 2. Addendum: after further testing, I found that this rubber is very particular about the blade it's used with. Review of JOOLA Dynaryz ZGXI bought two of these rubbers in max. thickness. Facts: Weight, red in max. 51 g., black in max., 50 g. (at 157 x 150 mm). The sponge hardness is 52.5 degrees, the overall hardness (according to "Spin & Speed") 57.9 degrees. I would not rate the rotation level or the speed of this rubber as highly as it is currently in the overall table. - and if you have heard it is a hybrid rubber, I don't think so at all !!! (... it is equipped with little catapult, but cannot lift the ball.) I first tried the rubber on my Huieson ZLC, glued with solvent-based glue. ... and as is often the case with rubbers with greater sponge hardness and reduced catapult, this rubber also does not feel particularly comfortable on very hard and stiff blades!!! (- the wood also reduces the catapult behavior.) 1. Conclusion: Shooting game at the table and close to the table is very good. (... further back it becomes very strenuous!) Topspin game with a lot of rotation from all "positions" is also very good. The surface is slightly tacky and can keep the ball moving quickly! Unfortunately, the surface of my black rubber doesn't look as good as that of a ROXTON 1 or Reaktor Tornado V5. (- it's probably also softer than the other two!) The sponge of the NEON Tokyo is also significantly softer and more elastic (therefore a bit more catapult effect!), but unfortunately, it generates less spin than... ;) However, it's better suited to the European playing style than the other two! It is one of the lightest rubbers I have ever bought and over and beyond a very interesting unsticky Allround rubber for European Players. ... the best of all LKT/KTL rubbers! ( - I wonder, why this rubber is not offered on the European market.) Facts: red versions, 1,8 and 2 mm uncut with film each 52 g, 2,2 mm 56 g . (on my blade with 150 x 157 mm: 35 and 39 g.). Black versions, 1,8 , 2,0 and 2,2 mm each 52 g. ( - ??? ... STRANGE !!! ) ... BUT, wonderful light. It generates enough spin, has enough speed and the control is very good. The top rubber is insensitive to incoming spin, making it easy to return your opponent's serve. The "Tenergy-like" reddish sponge at approximately 40 to 42 degrees (international level) and the medium-hard top rubber create a medium-high throwing angle. Whether close to the table or halfway, this rubber has enough speed. (...even if it has a little less catapult than Japanese or European rubbers!) He is also much more dynamic and plays very well on faster, softer blades. Finally, I can recommend this rubber as a good BH rubber !!! Review of KTL (LKT) Pro XPI rated this rubber three years ago! ... oddly enough, mine rating is no longer there! - Very interesting, cheap and light allround rubber with middle catapult !!! My (red) versions in 1.8 & 2 mm weighs uncut between 53 & 57g (between 37 & 40 g on my Off+ blade 150 x 156 mm). This wonderful rubber has enough speed (- ... for my BH), generates enough spin and is easy to control. Since the tight top sheet does not absorb too much of the opponents spin, it is quite easy to return the opposing serve offensivly about the table. The soft sponge (about 38 degrees) and the medium-hard upper rubber give a medium throw angle.Addendum: In contrast to (the best KTL Rubber of all ???) the XP Red Dragon, is this rubber softer, has less spin and is harder to control. Review of Loki RXTON IRevised! I bought this rubber on Aliexpress for 6 €. My black rubber weighed 87 g in the packaging. Uncut it weighed 64 grams (with protective film) and ultimately weighed 46 grams (155 x 150 mm) on my blade. As I found, the level of rotation depends heavily on the blade used. In itself, this rubber can be compared quite well with the Reaktor V5. However, the Roxton 1 is a little faster (- delivers more catapult !!!), is softer, lighter (approx. 2 g, cut!) and produces slightly less rotation. I have been testing this rubber on various woods for two weeks now. The stickiness of the Europe is roughly equivalent to that of a hybrid rubber. At first it seems very slow, but this is not confirmed in play. When the ball hits it, an unusual, rather dull sound is produced. (... especially in comparison to the China!) This gave me the impression that the Europe is softer than the China, but this was later not confirmed. Since I have had a shore meter for a long time, I checked the sponge hardness and lo and behold, with the "Europa" I could only measure 39 degrees (Chinese scale)! (... instead of the 40 degrees according to the manufacturer.) - so 50 degrees at international level. Conclusion: interesting, very inexpensive rubber! ... easy to control, with above-average spin. Its speed leaves something to be desired, so it is more suitable for very fast blades or on the backhand side. - certainly also excellent for tuning! (- which came from China as from Germany) In my opinion, the ratings above in the table are rather understated. - I consider this rubber to be more powerful. This rubbers with white sponges are available in 2 different colors and sponge hardness levels. Facts: pink rubber (official!) 39 degree, 85 g. in orig. pack., 66 g. unc. incl. foil and cut 48 g. Blue rubber: 40 degree, in orig. pack. 87 g., 67 g. unc. incl. foil and cut 49 g. (... both cut to 157 x 150 mm.) First realizations: the blue rubber has more catapult and a higher flight curve than the pink one, but delivers less spin. Based on this knowledge, I measured the blue rubber with my Shore Meter and could only determine 38 degrees. (- which makes sense given the higher catapult!) Conclusion: these rubbers "prefers" a "chinese" technique !!! The pink one even more so than the blue one. The most rotation is generated with the pink rubber, by pulling the topspin forward with strong physical effort. (9.2 my rating!) With the blue rubber, I generate less rotation. According to the manufacturer, it has a 40 degree hard sponge (- Chinese hardness!) with a thickness of 2.1 mm. The rather soft top rubber is slightly sticky and can hold the ball for a short moment. The weight of my rubber in its original packaging was 85 grams, uncut it was 62 grams. On my blade, which measures 157 x 150 mm, it weighs 46 grams.After I had only briefly tried this rubber (Nov. 24) on my Huison ZLC, I put it away again because it didn't exactly "seem to be a high-flyer!!!" Since the rubber felt considerably softer to me (- like 42.5 degrees int. level), I measured it with my Shore meter. With extreme effort, I could only measure a hardness of 33 (!!!) degrees. - that would be even less than it felt!!! I bought this rubber as a "CHOICE" offer (- these special offers come from the AliExpress central warehouse!!!) and unfortunately I have often experienced that items from there did not correspond to the information provided by the seller. ... unfortunately I can't rule that out here either. Here are the first facts: "1 Special" has a different pimple ergonomics!!! ... the pimples are further apart, the sponge hardness is (measured by myself!) the same as the conventional "1". Presumably the same sponge (specified as 39 degrees) is used here. - however, I could only measure 35° with my Shore Meter for both !!! (44 degree, europe scale, seems to be right!) Weight for "1 Spec." is 63 g. uncut, for norm. "1" it´s 61 g. The "Special" seems to have a bit more catapult, but the conventional "1" sticks more. THOR)( Updated the review at the end because I’ve discovered boosting! ;-P )It's a mystery to me how the product name (in the form above) came about!!! The rubber is called: Loki Arthur - C !!! - where does "THOR" come from??? ... and purplegreen, because it's available in purple and green. (...but now also in blue and pink!) In any case, this minimally sticky rubber with a white 2.1 mm sponge, which is officially supposed to have 40 degrees (but feels considerably softer! ... maybe 36°), is extremely light. My purple rubber weighed 85 grams in its original packaging and 61.6 grams uncut (including protective film / - 1,5 g). Cut to 157x150 mm, it ultimately weighed 43 grams. For the first test, I glued it to my XVT ZL Koto with solvent-based glue. (- very fast outer blade!) The rubber generates high control, a decent speed and rotation just above average during a medium-high flight curve ! Addendum: Unfortunately, the rubber shrank to 152 x 149 mm after being glued with solvent-based adhesive. ... and YES, it has catapult! ;-) NEW addendum (boosting!): After reading more and more about "rubber boosting" since the beginning of the year, I got myself the "HAIFU Seamon Booster Yellow" (from AliExpress)—and since the AU Golden (blue) was just missing a little extra spin, I simply had to try out what the result of boosting would be!!! So, I first applied just one layer, let it air-dry for 24 hours, and then applied a second layer. After another 24 hours, it was ready to be glued on. CONCLUSION: and it was absolutely worth it!!! Its spin characteristics have improved enormously, and I now view it as a serious backhand rubber (even for advanced players!). I had recently hailed the Double Fish Vollant 2 as an absolute bargain, the RXTON 7 deserves at least the same title and that, oh joy, because it is also *so* much better! Never before have I encountered a higher-performing rubber in this price range! (16 !!! EURO !!! ... at AliEx) I first tested the version with a 39 degree sponge hardness and was quite surprised. However, since the trajectory felt a bit too low for my liking, I subsequently ordered the 40 degree version. Fortunately, it plays softer than expected, and its trajectory also appears to be slightly higher! Incidentally, one gets the distinct impression that the two different versions might actually be of equal hardness! Since I am currently only able to share my initial impressions here, I will certainly revise and complete this review at a later date. Current verdict: players in higher competitive tiers should definitely give this rubber a chance! (I’d be curious to know just how outstanding it becomes once boosted. ;-P)Here are a few weight specifications: 40-degree version, uncut with protective film: 71 g (in original packaging: 93.5 g). 39-degree version, uncut with protective film: 68.8 g (in original packaging: 92.9 g). Review of Nittaku Fastarc G-1UPDATE: for me still the best rubber on the market !!! - not necessarily easy to master, but if you can handle it, it's a "real weapon." .Facts: black rubber, "Thick" (1,8 mm), 47,5 degree sponge hardness. Weight in orig. packing 114 g, uncut 64 g, on my blade (157 x 150 mm) 44 g. At first I played it on my Zhang Jike SZLC Fake (very hard and fast) at my forehand. On that blade, it was difficult for me to control it, because it took on a lot of opposing spin (in passive game, as by the opponents service) and I felt no security. As a second attempt, I used my Lemuria CNF, a Butterfly Revoldia clone. Now I had a lot more confidence in my strokes and also no longer the feeling, that the incoming spin is so uncomfortable. With the FastArc G-1 you can generate an incredible amount of rotation! For me, next to the Andro Hexer Powergrip SFX, which is much softer (42.5 degrees), it is one of the spiniest rubbers on the market. After the rubber was now "in my storage" for a while (6 month ;-P), I have now taken it out again and glued it (with solvent-based glue) to my new favorite blade, the Stuor Nobilis Hinoki ZLC. Compared with this Fast Arc G-1, it is wonderful to play close to the table, in mid-distance or far from the table !!! In addition, the Stuor blade increases the level of rotation of the rubber and provides better control with incoming rotation. Conclusion: How good this rubber is, ultimately depends heavily on the right combination with the blade! I mainly got the impression, that this rubber harmonizes better with medium-hard, almost stiff blades. (- I also tried an inner layer ALC blade!) BUT: incomprehensibly, however, the best result was the combination with the Stuor Nobilis ZLC (- review under "no brand"). Best choice !!! Review of Nittaku Fastarc C-1UPDATE from 12/2021:Although I have actually excellent experiences with the Fastarc G1 (... on my Stuor Nobilis Hinoki ZLC blade, FH side), I had to try a slightly softer rubber again !!! Facts: C-1 in black, “Super Thick” (2 mm), sponge hardness 45 degree. Weight in orig. packing 95 g, uncut 65 g, on my blade (157 x 150 mm) 45 g. This “softer version of the G-1” (- same top sheet!) has more catapult as the G-1. The spin development is not far away from the G-1 and too on a very high level. Although I have actually excellent experiences with the Fastarc G1 (- ... in connection with my Stuor Nobilis Hinoki ZLC blade, at my FH), I definitely had to try a slightly softer rubber again! This “softer version of the G-1” (- same top sheet!) creates in the short game more speed (catapult) as the G-1. The spin development is not far away from the G-1 and too on a very high level. With the G-1 the topspin jumps out much flatter !!! ... on the other hand, the "angle play" with the C-1 is more difficult. In the end, I had the impression in many game situations that the C-1 was more "forgiving" and gives my game more security !!! CONCLUSION: this C-1 is the best rubber with a 45 degree sponge that I have played so far. (- however, there weren't that many either. ;-P ) - definitely try it !!! Review of Nittaku Hammond Z2Again Revised: It took me many hours of testing (with different blades) to fully determine the qualities of this rubber. At the beginning of my tests, I used some blades that were too stiff and hard, which led to rather unsatisfactory results. Back then, the Z2 (with only 1.8 mm and solvent-based glue!) landed on my Stuor Professional Long 5 (Inner) on my BH. - Wonderful! ... absolute security on all shots, whether at the table or far behind it. Above-average speed and spin values characterize this rubber (along with good control). Opponent serves can be easily "wrapped around" and returned safely. The height and length of the trajectory allow me to get significantly more balls to the target! Facts: Black rubber with 1.8 mm, original packaging 102 g, uncut 68 g. and cut 46 g. (160 x 150 mm) Black rubber with 2 mm, original packaging 105 g, uncut 70 g. Sponge hardness according to Nittaku 45 degrees. (... also measured by me! ;-P) - however the Z2 feels harder!!! ... about 47.5 to 50 degrees. I recently played with it on my SANWEI 75 Inner ALC (1.8 mm, FH this time!) and was absolutely thrilled again. - however I felt it was lacking a bit of speed. ... so I bought it with 2 mm. The increase in speed and spin was enormous, like with no other rubber before!!! - but unfortunately too much for me. :-((Conclusion: If you own the right blade for this rubber (or buy one new!), you've got a truly high-performance rubber, which at 1.8 mm should be manageable for many players. At 2 mm or more, however, it becomes a speed monster. ... and "considerably more demanding" !!! On the second blade, an inexpensive Cybershape with carbon fiber, a friend liked the rubber so much that he bought it from me on the spot. ... so my test was over for now!!! - I will probably order this rubber again and try it on my backhand side due to its lower speed (in red). What has happened with this (a little sticky) rubber ??? I bought some years ago some of these rubbers, but no one had such a hard upper rubber and sponge. ... additionally medium catapult (less elasticity) and this weight !!! I specifically asked for a lower weight! The seller send me 3 rubbers , red & black with 2 mm sponge (which is given once as medium and another time as maximum !!!). Weight packed 83 to 87 g. and uncut with film, 61 to 65 g. That ultimately means, cut on my 157 x 150 mm blade, a weight of 45 to 49 grams. For a few years, this rubbers weighed cutted (at the same size) between 40 and 43 g. and their sponge where around 42 degree !!!Obviously these rubbers are now sold with sponges of different hardness. Two rubbers (bl & red) plays like 45 degree rubbers, one (red) rubber like 50 degree (- which reminds me of a DIGNICS 80 with less catapult, speed and spin!!!) But honestly I can not say, that this rubber is complete bad. I had a lot of fun with it, on my Lemuria Nobilis Hinoki blade on my backhand side. Due to its little catapult and speed, this rubber provides very good control, which is why I had few problems with my opponent's fast balls near the table. I was able to counter many balls or pull against them without any problems. At my forehand I could not get any useful speed into the ball at all. No matter how hard I hit the ball, it just was not picking up speed. Horrible! My review was: "not worth the money", but that´ was exaggerated. This rubber is like a "brake pad with black sponge"!!! - presumably this rubber will only be happy with a tuner. (- Zhuangcorp described it very well !) While it delivers decent rotation (- more than, for example, the Tornado or Tornado V5), it lacks flexibility and speed. Facts: black rubber with maximum thickness(2 mm),weight packed 87 g., uncutted 68 g. (incl. protective film!) and cutted on 157 x 150 mm, 51 grams. ... very hard sponge, probably above 50 degrees hardness at international level. Conclusion: without the use of tuners, this rubber should only be of interest to defenders. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners, because it is to hard and doesn't have enough elasticity. The upper rubber is very tight and very clean processed. The pips (inside) are short. My 2.1 mm rubber weighed 81 g incl. packaging, uncut (with protective film) 62 g and finally 47 g on my blade (150 x 157 mm). The rubber provides good rotation and is very controlled. The ball acceptance and placement after the opposing serve is possible without any problems. (- ... with a medium-high trajectory!) The problem of this rubber for me is unfortunately its speed! Conclusion: I would recommend this rubber to defenders or "beginners together with a faster blade". While detailed descriptions are often available, the blade used is often not mentioned. However, the combination with the "right" blade is fundamental! ( - thank you for your review dear ROTA!!!) The rubber tested here is, in my opinion, the best example of this. Initially, it was the second biggest disappointment for me this year! :-( Facts: Black rubber, 2.1 mm, 95 g in original packaging, 62 g uncut and 47 g (157 x 150 mm) cut. Sponge hardness 39 degrees. (Chinese) ... Catapult and speed are acceptable, the spin (- on my various synthetic blades!) is unfortunately only mediocre! ... that's why I chose a solid wood blade, the Palio B-21. - a hard and fast, very inexpensive offensive blade. The rubber performs really well on this blade. The spin values are now significantly higher and the control is significantly better. Only the speed has suffered minimally. (- a Dig. 09c performs significantly worse on this blade than this Sanwei rubber!!! ;-P) Conclusion: I could very well imagine a combination of the Palio B-21, the Gear Hyper Hard (FH) and the softer version (BH). (- which would also be very interesting in terms of price!) This setup is available on AliExpress for around 60 €! Whether you're a beginner or advanced player, the B-21 and Hyper Hard are worth a try! Note: I haven't included all values in the table, because I find this rubber very difficult in general. On the Palio blade I play with, I give it (compared to my other ratings!) 9.2 for speed, 9.4 for spin, and 9.6 for control. Only on very fast blades, you can consider this rubber, as a backhand covering! A dealer in Germany also sells this rubber in 3 versions. The 37 degree version is called Gear Hyper "Soft", the 38 degree version ... "Regular" and the 39 degree version ... "Hard". The 38 and 39 degree versions are offered several times on AliExpress for around 20 dollars. I have not yet found out which dealer on Aliexpress sells the 37° version !!! - The 37° version (only in blue!) is possibly available from the dealer "XVT Table Tennis" for 14 dollars. ... but ??????? The topsheet is very slightly sticky, and the sponge, measured with my Shore meter, has a hardness of 35 degrees - it's listed as 38 degrees. After just a few minutes of testing, the surface no longer looks good! Compared to the other GEAR Hyper rubbers, this rubber is more of a "disaster" or simply too expensive for the quality! No matter what blade you use, you simply can't generate decent rotation with this rubber. ... many cheaper rubbers deliver much more!!! Review of Sanwei AU Golden Blue/PinkUpdated the review at the end because I’ve discovered boosting! ;-PThis rubber is definitely one of the best low-budget rubbers with a 35-degree sponge (similar to the Double Fish Volant 2—see AliExpress stores) in the entry-level price range... for players who prefer the European style of play! The blue and pink versions use a white sponge. I tested the blue rubber on various blades: those with inner and outer carbon layers as well as an all-wood "Cyber ??Shape" model ("BOLI")... glued using solvent-based glue! This rubber is softer and offers a lively catapult effect, with good speed! AND: None of the cheaper rubbers I’ve played so far are more elastic or generate more spin!!! :-D (– sorry, I had forgotten about the Volant 2. ;-P) Facts: A50# porous sponge (– whatever that means???) with a (self-measured!!!) Chinese hardness of 35 degrees; available only in max thickness (2.1 mm). Blue rubber weighs 81 g in original packaging. Uncut weight including protective film is 57 g; cut to 157 x 150 mm, it weighs 45 g. - Comparison with LOKI RXTON 3 Pro: the R3 has the edge in the short game, but the AU is better in open play... Elasticity and control are on par. The arc is higher than the R3's, so no adjustment is needed!!! NEW addendum regarding boosting!!! After reading more and more about "rubber boosting" since the beginning of the year, I got myself the "HAIFU Seamon Booster Yellow" (from AliExpress)—and since the AU Golden (blue) was just missing a little extra spin, I simply had to try out what the result of boosting would be!!! So, I first applied just one layer, let it air-dry for 24 hours, and then applied a second layer. After another 24 hours, it was ready to be glued on. CONCLUSION: and it was absolutely worth it!!! Its spin characteristics have improved enormously, and I now view it as a serious backhand rubber (even for advanced players!). Just like with the XIOM Jekyll & Hyde C 55.0, I found it very difficult to control the rotation in my opponent's serves! Returning them was even more difficult with this Stiga. :( In open play, I had the least problems, but when it came to the table and control, I was consistently second! ;-P In my opinion, the Stiga is a bit faster than the Xiom. However, the J & H C 55.0, in my opinion, offers more spin and is more controlled! ... It's also 3 grams lighter. Conclusion: The DNA Dragon Power 55.0 requires a high level of play. - last, but not least the facts: black rubber with 2.15 mm, weight 110 g. in original packaging. 73.6 g. uncut and on my blade with 157 x 150 mm it weighs 51 g. The sponge is very fine-pored, the topsheet is NOT sticky - it can't hold the ball !!! ... however, it is extremely grippy (tacky) and generates a lot of rotation. Review of Sunflex X35Unfortunately, this rubber wasn't nearly as light as the retailer promised, and beyond that, I have no idea why it's associated with the Sunflex name !!! (- this rubber does not exist on the official Sunflex homepage.)The shrink-wrapped rubber (price between € 10 and € 12 at Alibaba), which is only available with a 2.0 mm sponge, weighed 91.5 g in the original packaging. - and I even asked to choose an light one !!! After unpacking it weighed 63 g uncut and at the end on my blade (150 x 158 mm) 46 g. - definitely not light !!! The thin topsheet with short pimple necks is slightly sticky and medium hard. The sponge is rather fine-pored and soft to medium-hard. It should be roughly between 38 and 40 degrees of hardness (international level). The tight top sheet reminds me a lot of the top sheets of the Butterfly Tenergy and Yasaka Rakza 7 fakes from China !!! (- therefore the level of rotation is also very limited.) Speed and catapult are in the middle upper range, the control is good. Due to the thick, soft sponge, the rubber provides a soft feel even on very hard blades! Conclusion: If the weight weren't so high, the rubber would be unreservedly recommended for beginners or players with a weaker backhand. This time the result is that the old version produces more spin than the newer! (Perhaps something was changed on the top sheet of the newer version over the years ?????? ... because the durability has also become considerably worse !!!!) 1st review 10/2018: The cover shown here represents the old version !!!! This rubber has been available in two new, "improved" (???) versions (red cover with the silhouette of a dragon), but I'll come back to that later. Due to my experience with the newer versions, this time I opted for the old version (with red sponge & red rubber). However, this version is slower and produces less spin. The control is good and the rubber with a sponge at 40 ° weighs 42 grams on my SZLC blade with 156 x 150 mm. Uncut with film it was 58 g! The throw angle is just below medium and the only positive aspect is that this (older) rubber is less sensitive to the opponent's spin than the new versions. - ... therefore it is also recommended for beginners !!! The NEWER version is available with two different sponges. One version with a 36 degree black sponge, the other with a 37 degree red sponge. (- both values seem realistic!) By the way, I think the black sponge with the red rubber is the best choice !!!!! The rotation is much higher than the old version and the control is very good !!! The speed is around 9, the spin around 8.5. Control even 9. The catapult behavior is neat and the durability is very good. On the blade I mentioned above, the respective versions weigh between 36 and 39 g. Years ago (2021) I was searching for a rubber with a 45 degree sponge hardness and so I found a test/review about the Tibhar Aurus Select in a German TT-Blog. By chance I had a few days later a Butterfly Zhang Jike TAMCA 5000, with two 1.7 mm AURUS Select, in my hand. ... Crazy !!! ;-P - what a wonderful direct and save game feeling. ( ... a few weeks later I bought this rubber! )Facts: red rubber with 1,7 mm sponge and a 45 degree sponge hardness. According to "Spin & Speed Germany ;-P, the total hardness of the rubber is 50 degrees !!! (... together with the medium-hard upper rubber.) Weight incl. package 85 g. , uncut 60 g. and at last 43 g. (157 x 150 mm) Glued on my STUOR Nobilis ZLC Hinoki blade, I had to recognize, that this rubber is too soft for me here. The wonderfully direct and save feeling, which I had on the "Z.JK. TAMCA 5000", was away. (... which is why I "had" to buy this blade a few weeks later! ;-P ) - despite all this, I was soon able to get used to the rubber (with 1.7 mm) as a really good BH rubber !!! Conclusion: The Aurus Select is very controlled and forgiving rubber with above-average spin properties and a higher trajectory. ... best for players of (almost) all classes, as FH or BH rubber. Only the so-called "angular play" is easier with some other rubbers! Review of Tibhar GeniusI just can't let it go!!! ... - I just have to test a "classic" or a Chinese rubber from time to time !!!Facts: black rubber with (47.5 degree) 2 mm sponge. Weight packed, 93 g., uncut 68 g. and 47 grams on my blade (157 x 150 mm). One thing that particularly struck me when playing with the Genius was the low catapult. It plays very directly, but you always have the feeling that the ball doesn't want to leave the rubber surface. - which of course makes the rubber very controlled! However, the rotation values are very high. In my opinion, it's a real spin monster that also works on a wide variety of blades. - but it also reminds a bit of faster Chinese rubbers, which, as is well known, are often missing a little catapult! Conclusion: for this rubber I would recommend a blade that is not too hard and stiff. However, this should be fast enough to compensate for the lack of catapult of the rubber. Today I can see the differences. The sponge of the MK FX is more porous and fragile. After I had first glued the rubber (2 mm) to my SANWEI 75 INNER ALC (!) with solvent adhesive (on the other side of which is a BlueGrip S2 in 1.7 mm), I immediately noticed that this rubber is extremely soft. ... softer than the S2 with the 42.5 degree sponge and marginally faster. I'm not sure whether I should even use the FX on this blade at the table. Review of Tibhar Aurus SoundOnce upon a time, a long, long time ago! ... in 2011 this rubber was rated here for the first time by Marcello. - back then people still played with celluloid balls! TODAY, 13 years later, this rubber is still on the market and, without a doubt, one of the best BH rubbers on the market!!! It will certainly be too soft for many players (for their FH side), but due to the very tight top rubber it is a medium-fast, very spiny rubber with good catapult. The sponge hardness is specified as 40 degrees, the total hardness is (according to Spin and Speed in Germany) 50.2 degrees. - which corresponds to the total hardness of the Aurus Select (with 45 degree sponge) !!! Here are a few more facts about the rubbers I bought: Red 1.7 mm, original packaging 90 g, uncut 59 g. and cut to 157 x 159 mm only 40 g. Black 1.7 and 1.9 mm each: original packaging 86 g., uncut 57 g., cut on Cybershape dimensions only 42 g. Conclusion: - I have already largely submitted it. ...but not only is this rubber really excellent, it is also very light and helps to minimize the weight of the blade. The upper rubber can hold the ball for a moment. ( ... as like a D 09c!) I've been testing this rubber for half a year. (... every now and then sporadically.) - or rather, I test it on various different blades. Unfortunately, I always come to the same conclusion: the controllability and the control are very good, only the spin potential could be higher.Unfortunately, as I noticed, the durability of this rubber is not particularly good. - However, I cannot judge to what extent the care of the rubber is related to this! Conclusion: Unfortunately, I have not yet found the right blade for this rubber for ME. ( - it doesn't matter whether I use it on my FH or BackHand!) Review of Tibhar Hybrid K3Now completed ! For a long time, I was wondering why Tibhar had slightly changed their packaging. (I even thought I'd bought a fake after my second rubber!) The information about the rubber color and thickness is now on a sticker in the top right corner of the cover! The reason for this is that the original K3 packaging was also used for the Pro and FX models, and therefore incorrect parameters for the rubber (Pro & FX) were listed! Actually I play (for my first tests) the K3 on a Lemuria SALC (Viscaria Super ALC clone) at my BH and too on a Sanwei 54 Inner Yellow ALC at my FH. ... both with 2 mm! Strangely enough, on the SALC I prefer the K3 on the bh side, whereas on the Sanwei I prefer it on the fh side. - which once again demonstrates how strong the influence of wood can be. Facts: black rubber, orig. P. 108 g., unc. with foil 70,6 g. (net. 67,6 g.) At my blade 47,5 g. (157x150 mm) Conclusion: For years, you can read everywhere about how poor the durability of this rubber supposedly is. (Which really only refers to the topsheet.) I think that's complete nonsense! Anyone who knows how to properly clean and care for a topsheet can play with this rubber almost as long as many others on the market. However, anyone who thinks that VOC-free cleaners (which contain glycerin, which softens the topsheet!) are the right care product and also rejects base protection films is on the wrong track from the start. Addendum: I recommend using a sticky protective film immediately after cleaning with a VOC-containing cleaner (e.g., 70% isopropanol mixed with a small amount of dish soap). - removes sweat produced by the body, secreted body oils, and dirt!!! ... a VOC-free cleaner essentially only benefits the sellers. ;)Mar 15, 2026 | |||||||||||||||||||||

Weights packed: 83 - 85 g. Uncut 54 and 55 g. On my 156 x 150 mm blade, the rubber ultimately weighs only 35 grams !!!! - that's absolutely outstanding... "light." After reading the reviews of the TSP Agrit, here at revspin.net, I had to buy it immediately. "Super controlled and incredibly light !!!" is exactly what I'm looking for (actually all the time) for my backhand. However, before I bought it, I assumed that this rubber had a sponge hardness of 42 degrees and the total hardness was 51.5 degrees! - Unfortunately that's incorrect. This rubber is definitely softer and is specified by TSP itself as 36 +/- 3 degrees. - ... and that's how it feels !!! I consider the ratings in the table to be essentially justified. However, this rubber does not have such high spin values, is absolutely not sticky and is by no means "medium"!!! Now that I've tested the rubber on a (hard) ZLC Hinoki and a "normal" (very hard) carbon blade, I've also experienced two completely different results. Review of TSP Ventus SpeedI have been using this rubber, in 1,8 mm thickness, for 2 years now and have tried it on various OFF blades. Facts: My packed (as “light” as possible!!!) rubbers weighed between 96 and 98 g. Strangely enough, each still weighed 66g. uncut. - ??? - :-OFor a 160 x 152 mm blade, the rubber weighs 47 g. and at 157 x 150mm it weighs 45g. !!! Its sponge hardness is 45 and the overall hardness is 49.3 (...according to “Spin and Speed”!!!) Conclusion: This rubber is one of the best “BH rubbers” on the market. Whether directly at the table or slightly behind it, you always feel extremely good control. My balls (even if I continue to play them "passively" behind the table) get a nice length and still reach their target. Fortunately, this rubber is still produced by VICTAS and is now sold under the name Victas Ventus pen!!! THANK YOU, Victas. Review of Tuttle POSITIVE ENERGY - Asian Edition -Tuttle has now released an "Asian Edition" of its "Positive Energy" rubber. A version featuring a blue sponge, in "Medium" hardness and "Max. Thickness", is available on AliExpress.On the German market (via SCHÜTT-Tabletennis), there is a version with a pink sponge (available in 1.5, 1.8, and 2 mm thicknesses for 8€!) while the packaging also labels it as "Medium hard," Schütt specifies its hardness as 38–40 degrees on the ESN scale!!! I recently bought this rubber (from Schütt). Its topsheet is tacky enough to hold the ball firmly for a few seconds! My red rubber with a pink sponge (1.8 mm) weighs 95.4 g in the original packaging and 68.4 g uncut, including the plastic film. (... my black rubber from AliExpress, with a BLUE sponge in max thickness, weighed 96 g in the original packaging and 69 g uncut, including the plastic film!!!) CONCLUSION: Cut to 157 x 150 mm, my 1.8 mm rubber ultimately weighs 48 grams; for that sponge thickness, it is significantly heavier than any other 1.8 mm rubber I have played with so far. Control is very solid, and the stated sponge hardness seems realistic. —I could see this rubber working well for the backhand. Review of Tuttle Positive Energy (non-tacky)Revised version !!! Available in 6 colors since 2023. ... 4 of them with a white 2.0 mm sponge, non-sticky topsheet and a stated hardness of 39 degrees. (... in pink, purple, blue, and green.) - personally, I would rate the hardness lower !!! Facts (uncut weights incl. foil !): Pink 71 g, Blue 69 g, and Green 64 g. Cut rubbers: Pink 52 g (157 x 150 mm), Blue 47 g, and Green 43 g (160 x 150 mm). Conclusion: the ratings in the table are for the 4 colured versions! If these versions weren't a bit too slow (- in my opinion!) and the weight differences weren't so significant, I would definitely recommend them. Their medium-hard sponge and the resulting low elasticity (lack of catapult effect!) aren't necessarily suitable for beginners, but in combination with a softer blade, they are at least worth considering. Any advanced player using a faster blade should be satisfied with this rubber. The red and black versions (in identical packaging), with a ( - i think softer!) blue, medium-hard sponge, are more catapult-like and significantly lighter. ... but, despite the slightly sticky topsheet, they generate slightly less spin! Its upper rubber is extremely soft, which gives him (an alleged) total hardness of 47 degrees.I have tested the rubber on a Btfy. Zhang Jike SZLC clone (hard, stiff and fast!) in 1.8 mm thickness. The rubber weighed 93 g in its original packaging and 55 g in uncut form. This is the lightest, I've ever weighed by a rubber with 42.5 degree sponge !!!!! When countering, the top sheet certainly conveys security, but plays rather soft (... to spongy). I didn't feel comfortable with him at the topspin game. Here I found him very indirect and uncomfortable. There was simply no security. (although the top spin is my "flagship"). The level of rotation is not bad, but it can't come close to that of an Andro Hexer Powersponge SFX. (- ... so the Andro remains my absolute number 1 and “THE spin monster" !!!!!) The prime discipline of the VICTAS V> 03 is clearly smashing !!!!! The high ball bounce results in a wonderful big hit window. (- with no other surface before, except for the DHS Gold Arc 5 with 42.5 degree, I could smash so safe !) Conclusion: For me, this rubber is neither fish nor meat. Review of Victas V > 11 ExtraUpdated: I became aware of this rubber through a very good friend who has been playing it on a Butterfly Timo Boll ALC for six months. For him it is “THE feel-good rubber" itself. FACTS: this rubber is not sticky and cannot hold the ball !!! The sponge hardness is 47.5 degrees, the total hardness 50.2 degrees. - I don't currently know of any other rubber with a 47.5 degree sponge that has such a soft top sheet and ultimately seems so soft!!! The weight uncut is 61 g. by 2.0 mm thickness. My blue rubber in max. thickness had a weight of 47 g by 156 x 151 mm. I also initially combined my Btfy. T.Boll ALC with the Victas, even though I have had this blade for years, I have not played any more. I have played various other, better rubbers on it in the past. Even on my favorite SZLC blades (Btfly. Zhang Jike "Fake or Stuor Nobilis SZLC Hinoki") I was not satisfied.CONCLUSION: Compared to my current favorite rubber, the Nittaku Fastarc G-1, which also has a 47.5 degree sponge, I have to say that the V-11 produces significantly less spin but also accepts significantly less spin. In addition, the maximum thickness of the V-11 is hardly faster than my G-1 with 1.8 mm. (... and in my opinion one of the slowest rubbers with a 47.5 degree sponge!) Only if it would provide more rotation, I could (possibly) imagine switching from the Nittaku FastArc G-1 to this rubber. However, the G-1 not only makes more spin, but also the higher arc. Therefore thanks to GP 418 :-D n Facts: black rubber, 2.0 mm, 105 g. in orig. pack. and uncut 69 g. Cutted to 157 x 150 mm, 48 g. For now the rubber glues (with VOC glue) on my Stuor professional Long 5 ( Inner layer) blade. Result: The game feeling is too soft and indirect. The specified degree of hardness of 50 degrees is very questionable for me. - it feels much softer! Control and spin were very, very good but I didn't oddly enough really get pressure into the ball. ( - this rubber reminded me of the V>11. :-/ ) Next I glued the rubber on to my Stuor Nobilis ZLC Hinoki. ... an acquaintance of mine, who plays a few classes up (1800 TTR, Germany) was absolutely smitten with the rubber. - for me, however, the combination was too fast. Conclusion: this rubber has huge potential and is absolutely recomended. ...but the right combination of rubber and blade is essential. - unfortunately I haven't found it for myself yet! Review of Victas Ventus StiffI have been using this rubber in 1,8 mm thickness (under its old name: TSP Ventus Speed), for 2 years now and have tried it on various OFF blades. Facts: My packed (as “light” as possible!!!) rubbers weighed between 96 and 98 g. Strangely enough, each still weighed 66g. uncut. - ??? - :-OOn a 160 x 152 mm blade, the rubber weighs 47 g. and on 157 x 150 mm 45g. !!! The sponge hardness is 45 and the overall hardness is 49.3 (...according to “Spin and Speed”!!!) Conclusion: This rubber is one of the best “BH rubbers” on the market. Whether directly at the table or slightly behind it, you always feel extremely good control. My balls (even if I continue to play them "passively" behind the table) get a nice length and still reach their target. Review of Victas V > 20 Double ExtraCorrected and completed !!! - at the beginning I was once again annoyed about a VICTAS rubber that was stated to be harder than it felt when playing! After I had the impression with the V11, 15 and 22 that the sponges were softer than stated, I now felt the same again with the V20. "Sensibly" I recently bought me a Shore Meter (sponge hardness measuring device) to be able to measure in such situations!!! Result: despite all my efforts, I was only able to measure 45 degrees. - sorry Victas, but 52.5 degrees sponge hardness??? Here are some real FACTS: rubber with 2 mm, black. 104 g in original packaging, uncut 68 g and on my blade 48 g. (at 157 x 150 mm) - glued with solvent-based glue !!! I quickly realized that it wouldn't be easy to find the right blade for this rubber. During the first test on my Sanwei 75 ALC Inner, I could feel absolutely no pressure point when hitting! After further tests on various synthetic fiber blades, the rubber finally ends up on my very stiff and hard Huieson ZLC (... on my backhand side), which now gives me "feel" and a lot of spin! - including the long-missing "pressure point." Conclusion: Undoubtedly “picky” rubber when it comes to the right blade, which in my opinion will not find "a lot of" friends, due to its softness and the difficult blade choice!!! Review of Xiom Vega XAt a dealer I trust, this rubber is specified with a sponge hardness of 47 degrees. The total hardness should be 56.9 degrees. (- ... which is relatively high !!!). I do not believe that, because I have the feeling he is much softer!!! Other rubbers with a 47.5 degree sponge, such as a DHS Gold Arc 5, a Nittaku Fast Arc G-1 or a Tibhar Genius with a total hardness of 53.3 degrees, appear clearly harder !!!Facts: my black rubber, with 1,8 mm sponge thickness, weighs packed 97 g. The uncut weight is 67 g. and at lasz cutted on my blade 47 g. (157 x 150 mm)! What strikes me immediately about this rubber (... in contrast to my other rubbers with 47.5 degree sponge) is the fact that this rubber delivers considerably more catapult and speed. As far as the level of rotation is concerned, he is certainly on a similar level to a Fastarc G-1, Genius or Donic Barracuda. ( - in my opinion, just like the much softer Andro "Grip or Powergrip SFX" !!!) Conclusion: in addition to the Gold Arc 5 (... with 47.5 degree sponge, which is not really comparable and only has a reasonable price on AliExpress), the Vega X Ten is also a great value for money. - and is an absolute top rubber !!! Review of Xiom Vega Europe HybridRating adjusted! This rubber can "lift" the ball only for a short moment! Facts: Red rubber, 2 mm, cutted 43 g.(157 x 150 mm) Sponge hardness 45 degree, total hardness (according to the shop "Spin and Speed) is 54.5 degree. The very hard upper rubber is unfortunately very brittle and crumbles quickly. - this rubber feels much harder than other 45ers !!! 1. test on Huieson ZLC (outer), glued with solvent-based glue: This rubber is quite slow, but plays pleasantly directly and with outstanding control. Incoming rotation is barely noticeable, the rotation level of the rubber is well above average. The catapult behavior in the short game is reminiscent of the Dignics 09c, ... just with less speed! 1. Conclusion: for the moment I find it difficult to give a final assessment. ... I will test the rubber again on my Sanwei 75 ALC Inner! 2. Conclusion: now the rubber feels even harder, but is also a bit slower. :-/ ADDENDUM: Big "surprise !!!" ( :-/ ) I bought the covering again (in the same thickness, but in black) and had it glued with "solvent-free glue" !!! Result: he now plays even more directly and has lost even more catapult and speed !!! :-( If I drop the ball onto the surface from a low height, it only bounces a few times, even it´s "not really sticky." - you would think now, they were two different rubbers !!! (- glued on identical woods.) Conclusion: Even though this surface is a bit slow, it has enough speed to play offensively and gives you immense security and control. However, I would only recommend this rubber in combination with really fast blades and for the backhand side !!! - Considering these two faces of rubber, I have not made any entries in the table !!! ... but here are my ratings: Rubber with solvent glue, Speed 8.6 and Gears "above average. My black sheet weighs 106 g in its original packaging and 72 g uncut. ... cut to 157 x 150 mm, it subsequently weighed 48 g. (... a second black sheet weighed 47 g at 155 x 147 mm). — First tested on an XVT ZL Koto blade. (... a very fast outer ply blade; the rubber was attached using solvent-based glue!) FIRST IMPRESSION: This rubber actually plays with a great deal of control and isn't nearly as hard as one might expect given its hardness rating!!! What struck me most was that my initial topspins flew extremely deep—something that required a bit of getting used to at first. The trajectory was high, and the spin was absolutely outstanding. — I believe we have found *the* new spin monster here. ... Incredible!!! Unfortunately, returning incoming spin isn't quite as simple. It really demands excellent technique and a high level of play!!! However, the short game at the table was easier than expected! Review of Yasaka Rising DragonATTENTION !!! Hello "friends of this rubber!" ... unfortunately, this rubber has been removed from the ITTF approval list!!! The Rising Dragon 2, however, is still approved. ... in the PAST: I was initially intrigued by this rubber's high spin rating. However, when I read the trajectory ratings, my interest waned. Fortunately, I was able to get a used rubber a week ago (for very little money! ;-P) that I had only briefly tested. It's a mystery to me why they claim this rubber has a flat trajectory. I was testing the Tibhar Hybrid K3 on the other side of the racket in parallel with it, and its arc "wasn't significantly" higher! I initially tested the Yasaka on my forehand side (on the very fast XVT ZL Koto, outer blade), but subsequently found it better for my backhand side. And believe me, this rubber creates a nice arc! ;-P More facts: my black rubber with 2.15 mm sponge weighs 45 grams, cut to 155 x 149 mm. It's sticky enough to hold the ball for a few seconds! Addendum, here some table tennis basics ;-P: stickiness describes whether a rubber can lift and hold the ball. Please everyone think about it! ;-)Facts: my (extra light) selected black rubber with blue sponge weighs 87 g in original packing. Uncut with film 67 g and at last at my OFF blade (150 x 156 mm) 47 g. The thickness is 2,2 mm, the price 15 €. In my opinion the sponge hardness must be around 42,5 degree. (- compared with some other rubbers of this hardness.) Never before I have been so wrong when assessing a rubber! After using the rubber the first time (freshly glued, with solvent-based glue), I got rather poor results. After my racket has been lying there for some time with this rubber, I was absolutely surprised! Now this rubber has much more catapult than initially and I can rightly agree with the (most) other reviews. (- however, it is an absolute joke for me to compare this rubber with the Xiom Vega Pro, with his 47,5 degree sponge. (- the Joola Rhyzm-Tech is more likely to apply!) If the weight of this rubber were a little bit lower and if the rubber were also available in other sponge thicknesses, this rubber could be a highlight at its price !!! It is a pity. At the end, I have combined this rubber with my Lemuria Black Gold blade, on its ZLC side at my BH, and got the best result. P.S.: Unfortunately I don´t know, if the red version with the "orange-red" sponge is comparable to the black rubber with blue sponge !!! In addition, I have not yet found this rubber at any Chinese dealer, only in Spain, Italy and the Ukraine. He recommended this rubber to me. Facts: Yinhe 9000E in SOFT !!!! ... however, on the back of the rubber it says 9005 and an S. ( - current AliExpress price: $7!!!) My red rubber (... with an extremely fine-pored sponge!) weighs 80 g in its original packaging, uncut with protective film 60.5 g. (- film weight: 1.5 g.) and cut to 157 x 150 mm, only 41,5 grams. - quite light!!! Unfortunately, the sponge thickness and hardness are not specified, but I was able to determine a hardness of 33 degrees (Chinese level) with my Shore Meter. ... the thickness is probably 2 mm. I first tested this rubber (- glued with solvent-based adhesive!) on my SANWEI 54 ALC inner, and this rubber felt a little bit "dead" after sticking it on. (- as I have experienced with other rubbers from time to time!!!) Less catapult, less rotation!!! - fortunately this situation changes after a few hours and now catapult as well as proper rotation can be detected. ... also the rubber is a bit sticky! I normally play (on the blade used for testing) the Donic bluegrip S2 with 1.8 mm on my backhand side. I will therefore compare the YINHE rubber with this rubber (with 42.5 degrees hardness, int. level!) - I am very excited. Conclusion: the yinhe rubber is harder, faster, but generates less spin and less arc as my Bluegrip S2. All in all, I can really recommend this rubber.
