999 Super 999T
Review of 999 Super 999TLittle catapult effect but not dead feeling. It is very tacky but not as tacky as other users report. Just after unpacking it can pick a ball from the table but only briefly, less than a second. Maybe it has a consistency issue. Tried to use this to play in a club full of dust even after cleaning. As dust starts to gather some parts of the rubber loose tack and others still have it making random returns with no control. It was a mess. Later playing in a decent place I still don't have great control, probably It is my fault because I'm not used to hard rubber and didn't dedicate enough time for it. Anyways I have much better control with Kokutaku 868.Jun 23, 2019

Butterfly Sriver L
Review of Butterfly Sriver LI bought this rubber because it was recommend for beginners in a forum. I was used to classical chinese (dead sponge with Tacky topsheet) and it was a total disaster. Complete loss of control, took months to learn how to use it. It was a horrible choice for me and I was stuck with it because I didn't have a job at the time. Despite my adjustment problems it is a good rubber and helped me learn how to deal with moderate catapult effect and a grippy topsheet. I could recommend it for beginners if it wasn't for the price. There are better alternatives for much less. With the money of 2 Sriver I can buy about 12 Chinese rubbers to test which one fits my style and now that I got a job that is exactly what I did; Bought 2 Friendship General, 2 Palio CJ8000, 1 Palio AK47, 2 999 super 999t, 2 kokutaku 868, 2 Corbor Reactor. Total 60$.So far I only tested the Palio (European Style) and the Friendship (Hybrid). Both suit me better then Sriver so I gave my old setup for a friend. You can check my other reviews if you are interested in Allround rubbers. Apr 01, 2018

Friendship/729 General (Cross sponge)
Review of Friendship/729 General (Cross sponge)Great Hybrid style rubber. Yes you read that right hybrid. I agree with site reviews and specs out of the pack but after a short ajustment fase it settles at a low tack high grip that is not good enough to play classical chinese strokes. Out of the pack it has enough tack to lift the ball of the table for a fraction of a second but now it can only lift a platic cover.Without tack and without catapult it is a dead car with no high gear, fit for a beginner to develop the strokes. It was getting tiresome so I decided to boost. The medium hard rubber responded very well to booster. Used 2 layers of liquid parafin, leaving it with no dome. Has more catapult than unboosted Sriver. It is closer to European than to Hurricane 2. 63g uncut, 48 cut. I rated the specs after adjustment fase and after booster since that is how it will be played most of the time. Great for backhand but does not suit my style on the forehand since it tends to slip on brushing strokes. Mar 30, 2018

Kokutaku 868 Training Rubber

Review of Kokutaku 868 Training RubberChinese style rubber. With good tack and low catapult, but not completely dead. With correct brushing technique ball has good speed and excellent control. Great rubber for beginners. Catapult is lower then Sriver L, and Palio CJ 8000 but has more spin. I was amazed at how agressive I could play with this rubber, excellent control. Good forehand rubber. Too slow to use on backhand. Only played one session, will update later about durability.Jun 16, 2019

Palio CJ8000 36-38°
Review of Palio CJ8000 36-38°This rubber is made in China but it was designed to copy Euro style and does so very well.It is an Allround rubber with about the same catapult effect as a Sriver, which is great for beginners or advanced control oriented players. Both (red and black) have very grippy topsheet with a little tack, which makes sense while copying European rubbers. It can create stronger spin then Sriver or Friendship RICT but less then Hurricanes. It has a small response to boosting, completly different from a typical chinese sponge. Currently it is my favorite forehand rubber. 2.2 mm 62-65g uncut, 47 g cut for 158x150 blade. Nov 22, 2018

Palio CJ8000 2-Side Loop
Review of Palio CJ8000 2-Side LoopEven though Palio is a Chinese company they made this rubber to play as European style. It has about the same speed as Sriver L and more spin, now it is my favorite forehand rubber. It is perfect for beginners or control oriented players. It can be used on backhand for learning but I prefer faster rubbers on the back like AK 47 blue.Nov 22, 2018

Palio AK 47 Blue
Review of Palio AK 47 BlueExcelent rubber, very fast, lightweight, good spin, good price. Currently it is my favorite backhand rubber. Not recommended for use on forehand. It is too soft, will bottom out on faster hits and loose control. On forehand ak 47 red is a better choice.Nov 22, 2018

Reactor Corbor
Review of Reactor Corbor"Tunning" topsheet with oil turns tacky topsheet into grippy. If you like Euro rubbers you can change some chinese rubbers by applying oil on topsheet and booster on the sponge to use it as a beginner Euro rubber, I don't own this rubber but Friendship General works this way. I think tackiness is essential for chinese style strokes, without it the ball just falls, it's no wonder Hurricane can pick a ball of the table. For me oil on the topsheet would just ruin the rubber. Anyways use it if it suits you.Mar 10, 2018
