DHS Gold Arc 5
Review of DHS Gold Arc 547.5 Black, Uncut weight: 71g. The GoldARC 5 (47.5) is same speed and same weight than GoldARC 8 (50), but slightly higher spin and more spin sensitivity. They were on my racket at the same time. The top sheet is much harder, contact and spin are not as well controlled. I don't understand how some people can compare it to the Yasaka Rakza 7. The topsheet of the R7 is soft, this one is hard with very poor feedback. With the GA8 or R7, the speed or spin can be dosed much more precisely. I don't think it works without oil, maybe with the softer sponge (42.5). The Palio HK1997 Gold has a similar spin and linearity, but is much more forgiving, the extra soft topsheet almost talks to us, there is so much feedback.Nov 17, 2022

DHS Gold Arc 9

Review of DHS Gold Arc 9This is a fast rubber. When I tested it (with 37 and 38-degree sponge hardness) on the other side of the same blade with the DHS Goldarc 8 (47.5), my flat hits were faster. However, many people consider it slow because the sponge doesn't have the same high catapult effect as modern tensor rubbers, but it provides a similarly long ball dwell time. The rubber's speed is primarily provided by the soft, thin, and elastic top sheet. The smashes are bullet-fast and very accurate. Compared to the GA8, it's easier to aggressively receive serves with a quick loop, thanks to the energy-absorbing sponge, despite this being one of the GA8's strengths. The sponge requires a few hours of playing-in.Aug 18, 2024

Donic Bluefire M2
Review of Donic Bluefire M2This is very good rubber, similar than 2ndgen Baracuda, but less spin sensitivity, better control and consistency. The tuning goes quickly, reducing the spin and arc, to be replaced. This is seen in the lower durability value. Speed glued performance is far better, but even faster tuner evaporation, but in this case you will not regret it. :D Dec 31, 2013

Review of Friendship/729 Focus 3 Snipewhitout tuner:awesome attack speed, average spin, really good control The thin top sheet is very good quality (best chinese topsheet?), with absolutely non-tacky surface, but reliable grip when high speed short contact time. The rubber is linearly adjustable speed and spin, with low spin reactivity, but average durability. This is one of the best rubber for speedglue! Mar 31, 2013

Friendship/729 Aurora
Review of Friendship/729 AuroraRed:42deg, uncut mass:66g(There are also 40degree) 729 Aurora (42deg) RED is a typical BH rubber, very consistent, medium throw and low spin sensitivity. Aurora is a tensor rubber, same spin and attack speed than Acuda S2, but slightly less grip and lower throw! Awesome, rock steady block, same or better than Acuda S2! The sponge eliminate the incoming spin and sends the ball, where you want. Easy and precise opening loops, with very good feedback. Aurora 42 RED hardness and dwell time is closer than Acuda S1. The sponge is less and better controlled catapult effect than Acuda, and need for run-time the revival. If durability is good, maybe I'm not mistaken, Aurora is a best buy rubber (16-18 dollar), one of the easiest to play. This is not factory tuned rubber, like other new tensor, but lively small bubbles sponge (like Acuda S1), the lower throw angle is expected. Presumably, others will also tune (booster or speed glue), to eliminate this drawback. I also tried and succeeded, the throw was improved high enough for forehand. AURORA/AURORA(tuned: speed glue)/ACUDA S2/ACUDA S1 Top speed: 9/10/9/10 Throw: 5/6/6/7 Spin (opening loop, serve) 8/9/9/9 Spin (powerloop) 8/8/7/9 Spin insensitivity: 9/10/8/8 Hardness: 6/6/5/6 Block: 9/10/9/8 Versatile: 9/10/9/8 Due to the less tacky and grip, therefore more similarity a mildly tuned Bryce, than new tensors. But a speed glued or oil tuned AURORA is a more versatile, reliable and consistent than glued Bryce! Perhaps owing to the greater weight. (test: fast carbon blade) Update: Black (42) is same weight (uncut: 66g), softer topsheet, better grip and higher throw, the harder red topsheet maybe requires the softer sponge (40deg) or to soften with oil. Aurora 42 is similar hardness as Focus III snipe 46, easier opening loop with higher spin, but top speed is lower without tuning Durability is excellent, after about two months of usage, no visible wear and damage (each time reglued), no shrinkage, same grip. Friendship/729 Bloom Power
Review of Friendship/729 Bloom PowerThis is a tacky chinese rubber with moderated catapult effect. Fast rubber, this is more linear than 729 Battle II or Palio The Way 40+. Easy serve return and short game, low sensitive to incoming spin, flat hit is possible, this is usable rubber for 40mm celluloid ball. I prefer the SPEED version, it is lighter and the topsheet is thinner. Interestingly, the SPEED version is not faster, but higher throw and more rotation for 40+ poly ball. Overall,SPEED version is same performance to Palio AK47 with slightly different advantages, but still the Palio HK1997 Gold is the standard for me. --Bloom POWER H47, red : 70g uncut weight --Bloom SPEED H47, red: 60g uncut weight Feb 23, 2019

Review of Friendship/729 Bloom SpeedThis is not a typical chinese rubber with very thin tacky topsheet and moderated catapult effect. This is medium heavy (uncut: 60g), very spiny and powerful rubber. Easy serve return and short game, reasonably low sensitive to incoming spin, flat hit is possible. Interestingly, this is not faster than POWER version, but higher throw and more rotation for 40+ poly ball. Overall, SPEED version is very usable rubber, same performance to Palio AK47 with slightly different advantages, but still the Palio HK1997 Gold is the standard for me. --Bloom POWER H47, red : 70g uncut weight --Bloom SPEED H47, red: 60g uncut weightFeb 23, 2019

Friendship/729 Battle 3
Review of Friendship/729 Battle 3I tried both the 38 and 40 degree versions (ALC blade) and played with them for a few hours to break in both rubbers (uncut weights are 66 and 67g). This rubber is fun to play with and produces a very decent spin, but its power is a little overrated. With these speed numbers, other rubbers offer significantly higher attack speeds. The 729 has indeed improved on its sponge and slightly increased the dwell time, but maybe only to fans of the brand it seems modern. I think it is two generations behind the DHS Hurricane 8, GoldArc 9 or the Yinhe Moon 12 sponge. The current modern Chinese sponges also offer a pretty wide window and trajectory control. With the Battle III sponge, we have limited options for varying loop length or arc height. The short game and push is good and the topsheet grips well, but could be softer for grabbing no-spin balls (black topsheet is better ball contact than red). Oiling presumably helps with this.Apr 08, 2025

Friendship/729 Dragon-F
Review of Friendship/729 Dragon-FMid-hard RED, uncut weight: 68g (165x165mm). In my opinion, this manufacturer offers their old rubbers, repackaged under a new name. Even though they put a slightly better sponge under it, the red topsheet is too stupid and hard for combinative play. Similar to Battle II, the black rubber is good, but the red one is bad quality. Based on the manufacturer's photos, I assumed it was a thin and soft topsheet. In the cross section photo, the topsheet is thin, but this is not true, in reality it is much thicker than the height of the pips. Last time I bought from this manufacturer.Mar 12, 2023

Review of Palio CJ8000 Biotech 40-42°Very high throw angle and spin, high arc. This resembles T05, with much tuner, (that's also stuffed full of something :). Regular sponge (40-42, 42-44, uncut mass 70-73g) is higher spin and speed, japanese sponge (42-44 uncut mass 72-75g) is less spin sensitivity, but lower spin potencial (preferably backhand). Both are very valuable, and incredible good bases for tuning. 3-4g PO to sponge and 2-3g to topsheet. Dec 25, 2012

Palio AK 47 Red

Review of Palio AK 47 RedThe sponge (RED and BLUE versions) looks very like the Galaxy/Yinhe "God crossbow" type (Big Dipper and Moon Speed). This is a high quality "made in china" medium porous sponge. It is really very fast, but predictable, i am big fan of balanced and moderate catapult effect.Palio produced a light, non-tacky, lively topsheet, this is thinner than Yinhe Moon Speed, and more thinner than Big Dipper. Very good grip and higher throw angle, but little more spin sensititvity and the feeling very very good. Compared to other light weight rubbers, this is incredibly steady. I feel like plays, the Xiom rubbers, not too long dwell time and very consistent... I prefer the Y Moon Speed (hitting efficiency), but AK-47 is much closer to modern tensors. Nice rubber, good for every kind of shoots, specially for looping. Palio HK1997 Gold
Review of Palio HK1997 GoldBrilliant rubber, with butter soft and elastic topsheet, this is the best 40+ rubber for me. This topsheet works exceptionally well in a cold vaporous room, because the topsheet is very soft and thinner than most rubbers. Unfortunately, the red topsheet is not as good as the black one. Powerfull porous sponge is hard but feels elastic too (after brake-in: 2 hours), especially tuned. Fast and consistent rubber, this is not too sensitive to incoming spin. Good or excellent at all aspects, drop shots and blocking are great, flat hits too, with bullet speed. Touch controlled spin, with linear feedback. Easy to generate spin on serves or push. Flipping seems to require bit of work to get right. Good control in attacking game. Slow looping produced strong spin, even to 40+ balls, this is very good for opening on all types of balls, extremely well in lifting backspin. Very fun to loop with, variable spin and speed, it is good for forehand and on backhand. This is similar to AK-47 RED version, but extra grip and more spin for 40+ balls. Palio The Way 40+
Review of Palio The Way 40+The red one (48-50) is almost not sticky, cant pick a ball up, but the rotation is awesome, and very effective.Uncut weight: 71g. Topsheet is average thickness, similar to Donic Bluefire, less than Big Dipper, but thicker than AK-47 and HK1997. Medium throw, this is similar to Hadou 40+, but longer dwell time, better consistency and less spin sensitivity. There is just enough catapult, looping is steady and reliable. This is good rubber, but Palio HK 1997 Gold is better for me, higher throw and more power (spin+speed). The topsheet is soft (CJ8000?), but the dead ball or short game feedback and the touch control is not so good as the thinner topsheets (AK-47, HK1997, Tenergy). Update: 1cm3 paraffin oil in the top sheet and the rubber woke up. Equal throw, similar spin and speed, higher arc, but more consistency (less spin sensitivity), than Palio HK1997 Gold. After breaking-in the throw is much higher, the arc and catapult is very similar to Tenergy 05 (Palio The way: 48-50), a bit lower speed, but better control. The Palio HK1997 Gold is etalon for me (I prefer linearity), but thereafter I didn't feel its superiority. Jan 03, 2019

Review of Palio Hadou 40+Uncut:62-64g The red one is little lower throw than black. The Hadou 40+ is similar thin top sheet to Palio HK 1997 Gold, similar good spin, higher arc and more consistency, better flat hitting. HK 1997 Gold is more power and more chinese characteristic, but placement is easier with this. Hadou is closer to modern tensors, with a very good interaction and rhythm with the 40+ balls. Both are valuable rubber.Feb 05, 2020

Reactor Tornado V5
Review of Reactor Tornado V5I tried black rubber: 67g uncut weight. Very similar rubber to the DHS Goldarc 5. Grippy topsheet, doesn't lift the ball. No catapult effect, this helps with short game, yet when spinning it has a kick that mimics tensor like behaviour. It also has the same problem as the Goldarc-5, the topsheet is too hard and spin is only good with celluloid balls, average with 40+ balls. The rubber is slower than the Palio HK1997. Many people confuse the catapult effect with maximum attack speed. The top speed is slower and only with tunning can give a similar top speed as the HK1997 in factory condition. I compared them on two sides of the same blade. (The Palio AK47 RED has a much higher top speed.)May 08, 2023

Review of Three Sword Red DragonHi!I agree with Amigo, this is a valuable rubber, with good quality. Perhaps, was originally made to be a tenergy clone. The red sponge is very similar than tenergy, and the operation is comparable (very high throw). Due to the blocking ability Red Dragon is awesome BH rubber. 62g uncut mass (RED), lower than tenergy, but tenergy contains a lot of booster oil. May 10, 2014

Review of Yinhe Moon SpeedSame sponge as Big-dipper, but this is a less tacky, and softer top-sheet. Good spin, but better speed, and similar good feelings with every shots.I am a big fan of this rubber (medium hardness, BLACK). Great blocking ability, with bullet speed, this is a awesome BH rubber. VOC glued Moon Speed is a very consistent and contolled rubber, with highest hitting speed, I've ever tryed. Medium throw angle rubber is probably not going to work on soft blades, suggested to hard blade (carbon?). Mar 11, 2015

Yinhe Jupiter 3 Asia
Review of Yinhe Jupiter 3 Asia(H37 black and red, and H38 black.)Fast rubber and this is a real top speed, not just a catapult effect, like most tensors. The rubber is somewhat tacky (soft topsheet), it can't pick up a ball off the table. Very good control, block and short game, very easy looping and smashing, if you like to hit, this is a very good choice. It isn’t spin sensitive, but the rotation is slightly lower than Jupiter 2 (same hardness). Without tuning, I had to work for spin, if I played it on forehand. For more spin, it might be worth trying the harder versions. On the backhand side was much more effective spin for me. When boosted, it's a super offensive forehand rubber with insane spin, that can do everything better than most. Sep 13, 2022
